Officer's Star Retired

  • A solemn ceremony was held Wednesday for a Chicago police officer killed in the line of duty.

Officer Nathaniel Taylor was shot and killed as he and several other officers served a search warrant at a South Side home last September.

[...] police officials honored Officer Taylor. Hundreds of officers were present for the event, along with family members, as they retired Taylor's star.

Taylor's star was officially added as the 463rd star to the superintendent's honor case. Taylor was killed in September of 2008, as he was executing a search warrant. Police say the subject of that search warrant shot him.

God Bless Officer.

It's a shame that this story is getting lost in all the bru-ha-ha over the Olympics and contract stuff.

God Bless you, Nate... you are sincerely missed.

SCC, I don't know if anyone else caught this, but during the ceremony J-Fed saluted as well he should have. What I want to know is who taught him how to salute because last time I checked, you don't salute with your hand in front of your face and the palm of your hand facing your cheek. Did anyone else catch this or was I seeing things??

When I saw King Assholes car outside, I just wanted to vomit.

I've already told my family and put it in my will that if I'm killed in the line of duty, the funeral will NOT be in the city of chicago as long he is the mayor of this city to prevent him from being anywhere near my remains or my family.

We don't need your crocodile tears pretending to care about us while you stick it to us after you leave.

Nate, you were one of the best cops I ever had the pleasure to work with when I was assigned to 189. Always ready to work, always, cautious, always careful.
The Lord took you away from us much too soon. I guess God had a shortage of Angels....You'll be missed forever, buddy, but I pray I'll see you when the time is right. Rest easy.

I did not know P.O. Taylor personally but I know people that knew him very well. By ALL accounts he was a stand-up guy. R.I.P. and God Bless you.

The salute was done the way military honor guards do it, presidential guard in DC does it, (tomb guard etc.). It prevents the uniform from riding up, keeps shirt tucked in etc. Ideally when you drop the salute the uniform doesn't need adjustment. Regular military does not salute this way. As far as I'm concerned the salute was properly done. Um, no offense but very few officers march properly let alone salute properly. He might do everything else wrong but this was done right.
Keep the bitching and whining for something that matters.
