Once again, District Law enforcement is the place to be. 3 out of 9 ain't bad...Or is it?

But I suppose if you figure that out of all the units out there, only 25 are districts, districts are probably over represented. My bad.

Too bad when 6 out of the 9 made, have less than 75 total awards and less than 6 citations- One needs to ask themselves "is the phone call really gone?" This list is a joke!! There were better guys with triple the awards and "higher-end" awards-guess they didn't have the phone call because they're not on the list. Dist #6, dist #8, and unit #153 are the only ones deserving of the merit (congrats to you)-when will the clout in Chicago ever stop-even the superintendent can't stop the politics that are eroding the moral of this department. Why are we risking are lives for a dept that could careless- this list is a slap in the face to the men and women who were more deserving than the 6 less than deserving examples of what "MERIT" really stands for. I'm ashamed of a department that can be so arrogant to think that nobody has ever worked with these people and know what they have in their background. Then to think you passed them off as if they are more deserving than the other nominations. This time the dept has gone too far- it's that obvious!!

Whenever SCC (or anyone else) uses "the Chicago Way" version of the word "merit" without using quotations marks, it's a slap in the face to those that actually deserved a promotion.

Unless and until the City of Chicago gives a categorical and unequivocal written definition of their version of the word "merit" which is consistent with the dictionary and identifies specific standardized criteria for said promotions, please show respect.

While most of us despise inept clout babies and oppose this rigged bullshit, there could be no objection if one clarifies such secret, opaque corruption as CLOUT and/or "arbitrary management discretion" with neither accountability nor transparency.

And don't tell us about the "Academic Selection Board". They're as crooked as a corkscrew.
Only those with cash, connections and/or purveyors of "sexual favors" need apply.

It's most unfortunate that some of the so-called "merit" promotees are worthy.

PLEASE! Encase "merit" in quotation marks or preface it with the modifier "so-called". Otherwise, naive outsiders might actually believe the job is on the legit--"the Best and the Brightest" and all that bullshit.

If one were to identify just one single factor that has drained the CPD of leadership, excellence and morale, it's CLOUT aka "merit".

I am sure he studied his ass off while down at HQ all that time, and I am sure he was in one of those "special" study groups.

Is it any wonder why this department is SO fucked up? You got a kid here, been on maybe 7-8 years, been medical or light duty for damn near three of those years, then detailed to HQ, and all of a sudden he has leadership ability and skills.

Is Danny O'Connor on medical or something?

I am sure he studied his ass off while down at HQ all that time, and I am sure he was in one of those "special" study groups.

Is it any wonder why this department is SO fucked up? You got a kid here, been on maybe 7-8 years, been medical or light duty for damn near three of those years, then detailed to HQ, and all of a sudden he has leadership ability and skills.

Of course it was legit, because it was off the list and off the test....yea, my ass it was.

Your thinking of the wrong guy, pay attention and look at the district he's from. I worked with Dan in 022 and as of last week he was still working there. Get your facts straight before you make yourself look like an even bigger jagoff. Also having worked with Dan for many years I can tell you that if he was IOD it wasnt for any extended period. Now go study for the next test and shut your pie hole. Dont be a hater because you have no social skills and can't ask someone to enter into there study group or your to cheap to spend the money on a study group, Dan studied hard, scored well and will make a good sergeant. Konet? From TRU...is this a typo ?
I guess she studied while on the desk her whole 7 years on the job while she completed 1 a & a sheet a day. I can see that.... she is truly a worthless, gossiping nitwit. I'm sure she'll never see the street..she'll be the same worthless, gossiping desk SGT in TRU...She's a joke.

Not that this means anything very significant, but J-Fed announced, actually promised, in writing in the PAX 501 from February 2009 that he was going to make 80 Sgts, 40 Lts, 85 Detectives, and a small number of D-2 positions. It should be interesting to see if he keeps his PROMISE.... Looks like another detective class is due, seeing that they have not made any this year yet, or for that matter, none in 2008 as well...

I'm sorry, is this BLOG for highschoolers? Some of you are actually discusted by EVERYTHING around you, even the air you Breath;
The Host on the site sure knows how to pick his words and comments to get things 'going'. For instance, the merit promotion for the superint. Driver ( who happened to be a fine police officer with over 15yrs on the job, Experienced, dedicated, and was in patrol 90% of his career in Area Two . For some of you, just mentioning the Superint. Gets you going. Please don't mix the two together and be fair to one of our own, just like if it could have been you, whether it was meritorius or not;
Take a deep breath, Relax, and be positive. Bad news travels faster than the good ones. Lots of us are doing 101 great things on this job and if the one bad thing gets mentioned and the 100 other good things are always ignored. Sooner or later it will be your turn; If it's meant to be, God bless ....

Jfed is such a fucking idiot. ALL Superintendents at least had the decency to send their driver or office personnel to a District or Unit BEFORE the list came out! You fucking idiot. Thanks for boosting morale. Didn't he drive for Dana Starks before he drove for you? So in the last 4 or 5 years, he has done WHAT exactly?

I forget. The one boss we know NEVER made it on a test Asst. Supt. Cuello is head of the merit board. That's right. On that note, how is it the James Jackson is in charge of operations but Cuello makes the decision on whom is assigned and gets promoted to work in operations? THATS KINDA STUPID DONT YOU THINK?

It pays to do a search warrant on Aunt B house!!!! Clint you are a pussy

5/22/2009 11:04:00 PM

I guess we all know who may the telephone call to her now huh, and who conveniently did not put the daughter's name on any of the reports though she according to Aunt Bea lived there, not him and was present! hmmmmm

Why all the Clint bashing?
dept commendations 15
Hon mentions 260
other awards 3
life saving award 2
Supt award of valor 1

he is obviously the police, and that is what is missing in a lot of supervisors, some call him arrogant, its called confidence, get some and stop hating.
I bet if you look back they beat up larry gade on this blog, but he is one of the best in 008.
those who don't know him, if he comes to your district you will be working with him not so much for him, can you say that about a lot of bosses?
but go ahead and bash all you want, better to vent on this blog then in a bottle..

She treats everyone as an equal and with respect. She is very trustworthy and would surely help out any officer that might step out of line and need guidance and support. Congrats sarge. You will be a great leader!

5/22/2009 04:57:00 PM

I thought "Merit" is what gets 3 times the awards. You know, typing out your own award and submitting it with other paper jumpers.

That driver happened to be in that spot for about three years. He served on 005 and is highly decorated officer who cares about his job and fellow police officers. I personally worked with him and will be a fine Boss. He truly deserved the pick. It's amazing how some comments are being left off the blog ... Politically motivated assholes

5/22/2009 06:07:00 PM

This is true. I knew him him when he worked in 005 on the watch a few years back, was a stand up guy then.

ok he's a stand up guy and a hard worker from 005.....tell me how does he deserve merit sergeant? i'll tell ya..it's because he's j-fed's driver. there are alot of stand up guys and hard workers out there. why arent any of them being made meritorous sgt???

003 Nakia Fenner to be a SGT?!!?!?

what a FUCKING JOKE! she has spent more time on the medical and IOD than on the streets. she doesn't even know how to write a report or handle a simple domestic. talk about merit. what a joke. if someone is going to be promoted meritoriously, for chist sakes at least have it be an officer that has done some fucking work.

as someone else has already said, i'd follow bear the k-9 dog before i follow fenner.
