Two Years Probation

Abbate sentenced. And if we recall correctly, receives the exact same sentence that Cozzi got prior to his being jackpotted by J-Fed:
  • A Chicago police officer was sentenced to two years probation today for pummeling a woman who was tending bar.

Anthony Abbate -- who declined to say anything to the judge before he was sentenced -- could have gotten up to five years for beating Karolina Obrycka in February of 2007. The attack was captured by the bar's security camera and the video was shown around the world.

Judge John Fleming said he decided against jail time, explaining he did not believe the crime was serious enough and that throwing Abbate in prison would not be a deterrent to others.

And the police haters are out in force at the various media links. Click on them at your own risk.

And any civilians or media types looking to start shit, just about every single reader here deplored Abbate's actions and called for his firing. We also uncovered numerous instances where Abbate should have been fired before or never even hired. It was the political structure that permitted this aberration to occur, not the men and women who serve and protect honorably day in and day out.

Well said. I appreciate you not defending Abbatte- the Mayor & the system are the problem.

And as for the Judge, this is exactly the problem with the system.

I advise all coppers to watch this Judge for continuing corruption.

To the public: Instead of torturing us any further with your police brutality rhetoric and disrupting a bunch of 60+ yr old retired PO's having a reunion, why don't you gather at City Hall and ask the mayor a few questions about missing money, nepotism, taxes, selling off city properties without taxpayers consent..... I forgot, you can't. He's still hiding out.

Off Topic but will be read here-

Spoke to a Dept of Revenue agent today(van driver). He related to me that there is talk about DOR agents driving thru Station lots looking for Vehicle Violations.

The agent told me that the rank and file agents are resisting this that they feel if the shit hits the fan the CPD will rescue them.

This agent was familiar with the CPD since a family member recently retired from 003 after 30 yrs. He also added that the inspectors are going to be going back to the districts since we are short.

Seems plausible-

Back on topic- Screw T/A he was a stroke in 011

Its a bit ironic how people are calling for the judge in the Abbate case to be taken off the stand. However, these same people will express no outrage when a gangbanger with a gun is only given probation by a judge.
Also, they want to talk about penalties not being stiff enough, lets take a look at the NFL scumbag Dante Stallworth. He only got 30 days for a killing a person while DUI.

Amen. Any one bad cop makes 100 good cops look bad. Attacking the clout/political system that lets guys like this get on the job and then act like they are above the law is more complicated than most media can handle, but it would also involve a change in Chicago neighborhood culture. There are a lot of . . . enablers out there.

I wish Fleming had given him jail time, even just a day, to make a point and shut up the folks who will now pile on.

Think of all of the domestics that we/me have been to where some guy beat his girl so bad and the ASA's would not approve felony charges. You police haters can hate all you want but you could never do what we do and deal with all of the crap that we deal with on an everyday basis. Deputy "I got your back" Dugan was out trying to motivate the troops again. I really think the days of the bosses throwing us under the bus to advance their our agendas is over. Just in time for the crime spike that is coming. The old leather driving gloves are being dusted off, second set of cuffs added to my belt, combat boots shined and my ankle is feeling the wait of my auxilary weapon. I am ready to get back out there, fight crime and be the police.

Would a civilian drunk have gotten a jail sentence?

Abbate is a turd. Flush him outta the department and let's deal with the other issues we have. Also it would be nice to enforce the rules on hiring so a drunk with a recent DUI isn't hired again like turd-boy was.

I can recommend a new career for Anthony though.

Thanks, Judge Fleming, for making me even more cynical that I was.

I knew there were some bad cops, but I also knew that most of the brave men and women who serve in the CPD were there to do a job--a difficult and demanding job--one that paid less than it was worth.

I assumed that the justice system could, when asked, weed out those who thought of their badge as a license to run amok.

You, Judge Fleming, have now made every police officer that does their job, that honorably serves and protects the citizens of this great city, suspect.

We have no recourse but to get rid of jurists like you, and let the good men and women of the CPD flourish.

AGG BAT charges are mostly for victims shot or almost dead. the facts.... this woman recieved little to any injuries. black eye? bloody nose? cuts? she refused medical attentions. did she continue to work after being attacked? do the other 100+ offenders in bar battery every weekend get the AGG BATT charge? 2 years probations... also. about 10 years ago a offender bit off a piece of my thumb during an arrest. the charge? you guessed it!

J.K. and P.M. (beat 2514) are good, honest and ethical officers. They would not stick up for a shit bag like Anthony Abbate. Because of her lies, they are facing 60 days suspension.

FORTY (40) MONTHS IN THE JOINT!

Probation for a shit-faced 300+ pound woman beater who disgraced the CPD around the planet.

But you just had to initiate the persecution of poor Bill Cozzi for giving an able-bodied mutt (fuck your wheelchair; it was handy for both cuffs and mobility) a few well-deserved whacks for disrupting an entire ER. Most veterans have seen far, far worse hundreds of times during their respective careers--and it invariably worked!

How would you have handled it, punk?

You couldn't send him to the lock-up as an arrestee with his superficial laceration. OC pepper spray and a taser were out. No duct tape or gag handy. The ER staff wasn't about to provide bandages or inject him with heblon, etc.

You want activity? Cozzi constantly gave the numbers.

You are one cold-blooded, low-life muthafucker. You just had to use Cozzi as a scapegoat for your personal political agenda.

You mean the hospitalization that took place 4 days after the fight? That one?

And the bartender that couldn't pick out even a single cop that was there despite reviewing the video tape for hours in case preparation?

And the fact that the videotape, viewed from end to end and not just the "provocative" footage of the officers clearing the pool table of possible weapons, showed only a minor shoving match between belligerent drunks?

And the acquittal when it was shown that none of the State's evidence showed anything like a brawl, fight, or disturbance amounting to diddly?

Two completely different cases. Two completely different outcomes. Don't go fishing in waters you have no knowledge of Curious Citizen. Look beyond what the liberal media with an agenda feeds you.

Hey, Curious Citizen. The Jefferson Tap guys were not guilty. When "good citizens" start a fight and lose, it doesn't mean that the winners should go to jail because they're cops. Grow up. If you start shit in a bar, expect what's coming - be it from a cop or any other Chicagoan with a set of balls left. Does that make sense to you? Bar fights are bar fights. You don't get to start one and then cry foul and try to cash in because you lost the fight.

My children wanted "An Olympic Committee Free T-Shirt" for running a pretend, not an Olympic race .....just public school children who are out of school for the summer...

But all of these events were beamed to the real Olympic Committee to show how much Chicago/Chicagoans want the Olympic game here...WTF I would have burned a Personal Day, a BFD, A Furlough Day, Time Due whatever it took to be t one of these events and show how I don't want the freaken Olympics here..... Screw Kathy Joiner Kearsey, Screw that "I tied" so I get a medal goof HAM.. They don't live here...She is from East Chicago! Have the freaken Olympics there...HAM is from .....Who gives a fuck where that ass pusher is from, but they can have the freaken Olympics there too

Not defending Abbate for being DRUNK and STUPID! BUT......

Realistically this actually LOOKED worse than it WAS!

BIG FAT MAN puching AT (MOSTLY MISSING)and trying to dsiengeage a grip with his foot ( BUMBLING and STUMBLING) after being pushed by her behind the bar where he was NOT supposed to be!

Well charge him with Trespass and Batery simple because there was nothing there!

The world and nation can be shocked with this video all they want but it really wasn't that terrible of a beating (NOT THAT IT JUSTIFIES HIM) BUT the female was back up and working and smiling and laughing in a later video when the BRIBE came in later for her not to contact police or whatever!

She is out for cash and she should be I guess, like anyone in her position BUT all those FELONIES charged to Abbate for get it!

I can tell NUMEROUS DUDE stories of what he got away with on video tape too......ASA's would never approve half of the shit and Judges are not going to clutter the jails and prisons with BATTERY offenders liberal public no matter how bad it looks!

Just keep airing the video to remind everyone that is all you can do here MEDIA! Nothing more is going to happen except Abbate's mistake ....he will have to live with it!

Glad it s over .... For now!

The media kept beating it into the public's head that Cozzi struck a man in a wheelchair with no further explanation.

What should an officer do if this happens again? Can't the hospital give him a shot when he is going berzerk biting and spitting at people? Good points by John Northern. JFed is responsible for torturing a decent cop who made a common mistake that did not even cause any injuries.

Abbate should have been psyched out when he came on.

It's not warranted curious citizen. For the record you're not a curious citizen, you're a misinformed citizen that's too lazy to find the facts for himself. Therefore it's easier to believe whatever you hear in a bar or on an elevator at work. If you cared to know the truth you would have gone to court which is a public forum, open to anyone.

I am not a poice officer, though I work with you every day. I stumbled upon this comment on the suntimes or tribune comment page, which I quote here:

"Typical. Cops, being known to be less socialized and less capable of operating as civilized members of society, are held to a lower standard just as we do children and people of other mental deficiencies. Now my question is, how can we rationalize allowing these people of obvious lesser mental capabilities to carry guns and deprive other people of their liberties? In most cases, people who demonstrate a clear inability to operate in a civilized society are institutionalized; but in this case, they're given guns.

Police work will NEVER BE A PROFESSION. It's just another job, like serving burgers or cleaning toilets (except the latter two jobs actually require their practitioners to demonstrate some kind of competence and regard for the law).

Most police are not good people, as anyone who would even rationalize this is no better than this thug. The sad part is, they're allowed to perpetuate their violence, intimidation and crime due to the lower standard to which they are held.

Chicago police, and most of their employees, are a disgrace to the concept of law enforcement and justice. Anyone with any kind of principle or honor should resign today."

---

That is the single most absurd thing I have ever read - but the worst part is that people actually believe it.

The men and women of the CPD are among the most professional law enforcement officers in the world - yes that includes the FBI and DEA. And the CPD members do their job every day in a horribly dangerous environment - and do so for lackluster pay and respect.

The people of this fine City, and its elected officials do not deserve the Police they have.

And in the face of all the disrespect the men and women of the CPD have to deal with: loudmouthed assholes, spitting arrestees, garbage complaints, long hours, injuries, public scorn, and yes the gangbanger's bullet that ends their life - there still exist men like Abatte whose crime is bad enough on its own, but worse even still because it causes an otherwise totally misinformed public to futher distrust the police.

I for one am glad he was convicted, and hope he is quickly removed from the department. I also hope against hope that someone (the FOP and CPD seem to not care at all about this) will tell the public what you do, for people you don't know (and who most of the time despise you) - everyday.

And to all of you let me suggest this: the buffoon who wrote that comment has neither the intellect to understand what he is talking about nor the intelligence to refrain from speaking - but in spite of that you would risk your life to come to his/her aid.

And that is why you are better than him.

Thank you.

Sorry for the long post.

Although I reserved opinion on the T.A. thing and I am expecting a community backlash from the sentence that was given - police who go to court saw this sentence coming a mile away AS LONG AS the rules that apply to the criminal at large were applied in the same manner in T.A.'s case.

On a positive note, maybe a positive result might come out of this entire fiasco - the public will wake up to the fact that this is the norm when it comes to sentencing - and your police officers see it every day!

You, Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public, should be upset by this sentence, but not because of the case it is applied to. You should be upset because this is the norm. Your guardians are tired of watching criminals - and I am talking about criminals with guns, knives, and bats who were not afraid to use them, people who pummel a senior citizen to steal her purse b/c she dared resist, people who steal your cars, burglarize your houses...they get the same sentence! Or less! Now you have seen what we see and you are probably sick to your stomach. Welcome to the club. WE founded it.

This decision might have been the most important one of this Judge's career - It might be the decision that makes the public realize that they must demand the same accountability from their judicial system that they demand from everyone else, least of all themselves.

In all fairness, he should have gotten somewhere between 60-180 days in the clink. All of our negative media attention is directly due to this incident. Cline would not have been forced to fall on a sword. The Jefferson Tap incident would never have made the news. The Cozzi incident would have never been given to Weis by the media. Cozzi getting 3.5 yrs is directly related to this piece of shit. I never heard of the Cozzi incident before J-Fed and the media witch hunt. Lawsuits are on the rise due to this incident. This is not the last you have seen of this tape. It will haunt this department for 50yrs. People won't remember Pac-Man Jones, Finnegan, Meizandowski. They will always remember this, always. It will be played everytime something happens even remotely similar, everytime. And honestly I don't give a fuck that he didn't land all his punches, he's twice her size and he continued to hit her while on the ground, that is what is aggravated about this battery. Think about it guys, she would have been justified to use deadly force against him under the law based on this attack. Does the system suck, absolutely, those two savages who killed Valadez are a prime example of that. But don't defend this guy, anyone who does sounds like an asshole and doesn't appreciate how badly he has screwed us all.

B. Ohhh yes.

The comment sections are aglow with radioactive hatred & disdain for the police.

The unusual amount of media coverage was ordered by shortshanks to deflect attention from the syndicated graft occurring on an unprecedented scale. Also to poison public sentiment against the Police during contract negotiation while he loots the city treasury to prop up his olympic pipe dream.

They're all jaw-jacking about how outraged they are regarding this verdict but on the same hand they're too oblivious to notice what is really going on... kind of like a lot of people during the Pacific Tsunami who didn't notice the animals running toward high ground before the waves hit. The ones who paid attention were able to save themselves. When the perfect storm surge of The Daley Crime Syndicate's grotesque thievery & malfeasance comes roaring up the beach and carries these same "curious citizens" out to sea, they'll have screams of "help Police, save me" on their lips. They won't remember the lynch mob mentality or the sneers of "fire 'em all" or "they're all corrupt" and the like. The same as when the savage heathens are exploiting the non-support and monday morning quarterbacking Police Officers are enduring now. The "curious citizens" who throw rocks at the Police then hide their hands will yell loudly for the Police when their tender parts are being gnawed from their bones.

This city IS IN FLAMES.

The politicians and the policy makers who are beholden to them are scared to death because they realize that flogging the blue shirts will NOT produce the results they dearly desire. They are also fearful because the POLICE being well aware of their unethical/illegal conduct, have been sounding the alert and now a very precious few citizens are starting to say "wtf is REALLY going on here." The powers that be are afraid that all their spin meisters & millions of dollars spent in P/R & message control will be for naught because the PEOPLE are being alerted by their REAL guardians and protectors.

The mayor and the exempts are beyond scared shitless because they've forgotten one very important thing during this dark era... Policemen are damn good at survival.

The mayor, the exempts and some "curious citizens" hate the Policeman for going into self preservation mode and actually making a conscious decision to selfishly safeguard themselves, their jobs, homes, assets and families from ruin. "We want you to be aggressive, we've got your back," the bosses thunder from above. The Policeman hears "...but we will throw you to the wolves for political cover & expediency."

All you "curious citizens" who make a lot of noise about the Police. We invite you to sign up and show us how you'd do it. Come on, some say it's easy. Put on 35lbs of gear. Work at night when your body craves sleep, choke down your food because you've been denied lunch for the 5th time in 6 working days. Go eyeball to eyeball with dude, get hurt. Get blown up in a car wreck then take suspension time even though it was not your fault. Now you got a few years & some surgically repaired body parts, walk with a limp, cold weather hurts your joints you've torn up but "curious citizens" say "look at that old, out of shape crippled cop."

Want to take a walk in our shoes? Don't be so damn quick to judge us.

My apologies for the lengthy rant SCC. Just wanted to let the "curious citizens" out there know they've gotten the Police department they've been screaming for. My heart breaks for the people who really need & appreciate the Police but I fear the day is come when they really need the Police to respond but there are no Police to be send has come.

It seems we're basically playing for pride now. My God I used to love THIS JOB!

----------------------------------
Every cop voluntarily took the job, knowing full well it was not anything like Adam12 depicted it. Bottom line is if you hate the job enough, move on. For the most part cops are pretty bright and could find other work. If you want to be a cop in Chicago, there are things that go with it that are unpleasant.

Police interaction with generally law abiding citizens is mostly limited to revenue generating traffic stops. You really think that people who mostly just want to be left alone to do their own thing and generally are not harming anyone else don't blame the cop for the ticket rather than the politicians that came up with that sick way of generating revenue?

And part of the deal when you work for a criminal enterprise like the Daley crime machine is that people assume you are not completely on the up and up. Its not an unreasonable assumption.

Why there is not a revolt at the ballot box is beyond me. maybe as a society we just have decided to accept the decay.

My guess is the summer strategy to deal with the almost certain rise in violence is to try and contain it to areas the Daley crime family considers expendable.

How about focusing on all of the volunteer activites that Chicago coppers engage in on their own time (NOT CAPS, not as part of their inside job) to help their community? Let's have a few hundred posts on that -- with names -- to show the none-police readers and reporters that most of us are caring human beings and part of our communities, not violent drunks. Should be a regular feature.

Maybe later we can also post about the cops who have interesting outside activities. I remember one time that short-lived CPD magazine (can't remember the name) had a piece on cops who were artists. It was amazing to see what people who push a beat car can do with canvas and paint. Lots of talented people on this job who have a life when they aren't on the job.

Great points, Northside.

Maybe the WEISEL can get the politicians to legislate that all trauma center emergency rooms be fully equipped with a hand truck and one of those Hannibal Lecter masks.

It's so revealing that no WEISEL suckholes will come up with real life answers to Cozzi's problem at the hospital.

My partner once asked ER staff to inject a raging shithead from hell with some antipsychotic sedative. They refused. So we did a handcuffed backroom tune-up that made Cozzi look like he was playing kindergarten pattycakes. Problem solved. I'm KMA and the statute of limitations has long since expired.

Maybe all of the street cops should carry duct tape for these maniacs. Otherwise, tell hospital security that it's their problem with a 19-Paul. Then wait for the CR# to come down.

Cozzi is JPud's sacrificial lamb. This media/revrund driven rat destroys a good cop's life by using him as an example and show he means business.
You could get more compassion out of a sack of hammers than this clueless doofus that the stuttering prick shoved down our throats.

Although I reserved opinion on the T.A. thing and I am expecting a community backlash from the sentence that was given - police who go to court saw this sentence coming a mile away AS LONG AS the rules that apply to the criminal at large were applied in the same manner in T.A.'s case.

You are full of shit because the average criminal wouldve never been charged with a felony. Maybe the judge was trying to right the wrong of this bogus case the best he could. This was a misdemeanor at best. But since it was a cop this part of the statute that is never applied to anyone was applied to the P.O. I challenge anyone that goes to court regularly to name me another case where someone who is not the police was charged with a felony for hitting someone and not causing serious injuries. And just being charged with a felony because it happened in a public place of amusement.

Double Standard amongst the Rank& File perhaps?
6/23/2009 07:40:00 PM

Actually one had to question the validity of the alledged victims claims in the J tap incident.
The video did not really show anyone getting the crap beat out of them. It showed some pushing and shoving.
Also, the alledged victims where shown in court to be the aggressors in that case = meaning they started the arguement.
In the question came up about their injuries. Officers that finally did respond, asked if they wanted to seek medical treatment for injuries they claimed yet were not visable to the responding officers. All of the alledged victims declined medical treatment that night.
Two of the alledged victims, the brothers, did not seek medical treatment until four (4) days later.
So their credibility was shot in court.
Their credibility will be shot in the civil trial as well.
If their injuries were so severe as they claim, then why wait four days for treatment?

That is why, in the J. Tap case, the officers were aquitted.

Why are people upset with the Judge in the case? At least the Judges in Cook County are consitent with their ruling on cases opposed to the ASA office.
What citizens of Chicago and Cook County should do is pick any Cook County Court House and sit there for a week and listen to the types of cases and how Jutice(cough, cough) is being served.
Every cooper that works in Cook County knew this offense did not rise to the level of a felony. Had this been a regular citizen instead of a Chicago Police Officer for a offender, this would of been Battery Simple. I could imagine calling out the Detectives and Felony Review, the laughs one would get, Felony Charges Denied by ASA X at 0000hrs. See the Judge got it right in this case it was an over zealous Cook County States Attorney that over charged this case worrying about an election problem in the future.Yes, Abatte was guilty of a Simple Battery, but no way of a Felony in the consitent ruling of Cook County Courts. Go to Br. 50 and 23 and see for youself the joke this Justice system we have here in Cook County. The Cases are dimissed before the defendant if reaches the bench! God Bless the CPD and Justice for Cozzi!!!!!!!

William Cozzi is certainly not the first person that Jody P. WEIS tried to throw under the bus.

In December 2003, John ROBERTS, the third ranking FBI disciplinary officer, forwarded a message to FBI Dir. Robert MUELLER concerning retaliation attempts against an FBI whistleblower: Special Agent Robert WRIGHT, then assigned to the Chicago office.

According to ROBERTS, WEIS and Robert JORDAN conspired against Agent WRIGHT to "take him out."

Based on ROBERTS' communication to MUELLER, WEIS does qualify as one vicious and treacherous weasel with neither integrity nor scruples.

We will see now if the Lefty States Attorneys Office will now continue to approve Agg. Battery charges on offenders who cause non-hospitalization minor injuries to other victims. If Abbatte was a minority or female and did the same thing, he would have been given a 1 month Suspension, and at most have been charged with misdemeanor Battery, and if guilty would have gotten 6 months probation. This whole thing is discrimination in case review, charging, trial, and finding and sentencing. Abbatte is an A-Hole max in my opinion, but he definately wasn't given a fair and impartial investigation, and trial. No wonder nobody wants to do much anymore. The Criminal Justice system in Crook County is seriously prejudiced and hopefully someone on a Federal level will right this case to the misdemeanor b.s. it really was, without the Satanic Local News Media spinning it into the fiasco they purposely created for two reasons. #1-Hatred and jealousy of Cops, and #2: sensationalism created for viewer ratings purposes.

While you are firing off a response, maybe take a deep breath and reread the post you are responding to - you'd realize we are saying the same thing. I agree that the Judge saw through the actual ramp up in charging and applied the law as it is applied in a case like this one in Cook County - and sentenced that way. If you looked at the case and cases like this one on a regular basis which I have - you could, as the Judge did, see the resulting probation sentence, or a trivial sentence, coming. And I agree it was upgraded because he is a cop. There are no elements of an agg battery here save the rare application of the portion of the statute you pointed out. Maybe we should cite this case in the future when asking for an upgrade, right? And of course, please realize who your friends are before attacking their post. You attacked an ally here...

Did she break the law? Even though we are a sanctuary city, What about the IRS, they want their money, have to support all this bull shit stimulants. The bar cannot hire illegals that's against the law, check the state and federal hiring codes. Does this "victim" owe back taxes? does the bar owe employment taxes? The National Organization of Women (NOW) wants to get rid of Judge Flemming. You think anyone will ask about this other "stuff". Any license check go on here. She wants to sue Abbatte, the City and the police department. I could care less about Abbatte, but this other stuff is tax money MY MONEY, YOUR MONEY. I feel sorry for Judge Flemming. He didn't trump up these bullshit Agg. Batt. charges. The states attorney did. They used a bullshit sub section of the law that states any battery that takes place on the public way or in a place of amusement qualifies for the upgrade to a felony charge. Not the typical great bodily harm or disfigurement guide lines in which even those usually arent enough for an upgrade by the states attorney. If this charge was ever used, all battery charges would be upgraded except domestic. Hundreds of batteries occur in the bars throught this city on a weekly basis and never ever even considered for an upgrade. I don't think most coppers are even aware this sub section exists let alone the typical citizen. Its like adultry, its in the Ilcs book but never ever used. If someone tried to use it they'd be laughed off the planet. Its not the judges fault he was presented with the charge and after the partial video being broadcast around the world, put him on the hot seat to do something at minimum. What Abbate did was dead wrong, dont misinterpet me, but let the charge and punishment fit the crime. He lost his job, his family has been dragged through the mud and now he's been convicted of a felony. Its still not enough for some people. The tape was made illegally because it had sound recorded with it which is a blatant violation of Ilcs eavesdropping laws and should have been dismissed as evidence. Another set of laws most coppers/people dont use or know much about. He was originally charged with a misdemeanor and 10 days later upgraded to a felony, as soon as the tape hit the airways. Typical knee jerk reaction by our legal system and shows they will do whatever they want to us and you will lose an uphill battle trying to fight it. Cozzi, another sad but prime example. Watch your asses out there.

Abbate had no clout/political pull contrary to a few meat heads that posted coments that he got off easy because of his connections. He was wrong but rail roaded beyond understanding. Nobody writes movers and parkers in 011, but did he do his job otherwise? He sure as hell didn't the years he was assigned (notice I didn't say worked) to 020.

He never showed up on in progress jobs, 10-1s or even drove slowly by traffic stops to see if the coppers were ok. He never volunteered to take a close by job, was always going on a personal or lunch after getting banged several times. He was red lined three times that I can think of off the top of my head. I could give a shit if he got a bus check, movers or parkers, but the least he could do is his help his fellow officers.

He used to proudly call himself ADS Abbate, ADA stood for "Ain't Doing Shit"

He is a disgrace to us all and did more to destroy the image of my Department and everyone in it than any single event or person ever. That means Finnigan and his bunch, the stuff at the end of the late 60s and the corruption of the 20s with Al Capone.
