Olympic Fix is In?

They're already beginning contract work on demolishing Michael Reese hospital:
  • The Mayor Daley-chaired Public Building Commission today took a giant step toward building the $1.1 billion Olympic Village on the Michael Reese Hospital site--alternately viewed as the riskiest element of Chicago's bid and its most significant legacy.

The PBC awarded $11 million worth of contracts to a pair of companies responsible for building abatement and demolition.

Brandenburg Industrial Service Co. ($7.98 million) and Heneghan Wrecking Co. ($3.19 million) will get control of the 37-acre hospital campus on Friday and begin the painstaking survey work. The companies must file a detailed work plan by July 30.

So what if the Olympics end up in Rio?

Of course the fix is in. We and the rest of the citizens can complain all we want to. Da mayor wants Da Lympics for his friends and family and da mayor gets what he wants.

He doesn't care what it costs. If he loses the next election, he's had twenty years to steal an set himself, and his family, up until the end of his days.

We're going to get screwed on this one way or another.

OFF TOPIC: HEY SCC, PLZ POST THIS:

IF U CAN MAKE THIS FRONT AND CENTER ON YOUR POST

THIS WAS ON CHICAGO BREAKING NEWS WEBSITE, ONLY IN COOK COUNTY

"Man acquitted in shooting of police officer"

"A Cook County jury acquitted a man Thursday on charges that he tried to kill a Chicago police officer two years ago as the officer attempted to stop him in a South Side public-housing development.
The jury forewoman said a lack of evidence and conflicting witness testimony led to the acquittal of Devaris Perry, 21, on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and disarming a police officer."

HOW COULD THEY COME TO THIS CONCLUSION, AFTER ONE OF OUR VERY OWN DIED OFFICER VALADEZ IN THE LINE OF DUTY,LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO. GOD HELP US AND LOOK OVER OUR CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT

THIS FELON WILL BE OUT ON THE STREETS BRAGGING,HOW HE BEAT THE CASE!

Wait and see - the entire McCormick Place contractor group will be awarded Olympics - Brandeburg, Walsh, US Equities (their people already staff Olympic Committee - Cassandra Francis, etc). White-collar feedlng at the connected trough, with no investigation EVER from county, state, and/or federal prosecutors.

The city will pay for the demolition of the Reese campus. The Olympics will wind up in Rio, and the city will sell the newly cleared land for development by some deserving(connected) real estate firm and make millions.

The taxpayers just get to foot the bill.

Rio is going to get the Olympics, if only for symbolic reasons.

The games have never been held in South America, to begin with. Coupled with the fact that Brazil, for all its faults, is considered a rising power in the hemisphere.

I think the decision has already been made, and the IOC is just going through the motions of making every other city believe they've got a chance.

That probably has more to do with the opportunity for them to plan more junkets to each city prior to October, to be wined and dined on the host city Olympic committee's dime.

3 MAYORS, 5 RABBIS ARRESTED IN CORRUPTION PROBE

NEWARK, New Jersey (CNN) -- The New Jersey officials and their associates charged in a federal probe of public corruption exchanged hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes in parking lots, restaurants, boiler rooms and bathrooms, an acting U.S. attorney said Thursday.

The investigation netted 44 defendants -- 29 on corruption charges and 15 for alleged money laundering, acting U.S. Attorney Ralph Marra Jr. said at a news conference.

And this was just an "Acting" U S Attorney.

I hope Pat Fitzgerald reads this and finds out that he really can investigate and arrest Mayors in this country.

OT: What heavy hitting politician struck a five year old child with his car, broke the boys arm and insisted the police cite the child for being at fault which resulted in the child having to defend himself in court?

Only in Illinois.

That's just to tear down the buildings the city ALREADY SPENT 85 MILLION DOLLARS BUYING.

In the meantime...yeah, dose "NO OLYMPICS" signs over by dere are a real good idea. Everyone I talk to on the job and at church and in the store and all of my neighbors say the Olympics is a bad idea, and when someone else goes to the trouble of getting these signs made we all want one for our lawn.

Until then, we'll all be hanging around the Redbox.
