Obama Hates on the Police

He really really dislikes the police - but we knew that from his time here in Illinois:
  • President Barack Obama said Wednesday that police acted "stupidly" in the arrest of prominent black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. and that despite racial progress blacks and Hispanics are still singled out unfairly for arrest.

"This still haunts us," Obama said.

Obama called Gates a friend, and said he doesn't know all the facts of the case. Nonetheless, Obama said, anyone would have been angry if treated the way Gates claims police in Cambridge, Mass., treated him. Gates, a Harvard University professor, claims he was arrested in his home after showing ID to police who responded to a report of a possible burglary.
So Obama admits he doesn't know the facts of the case, yet still calls the police stupid. Police were responding to a call of a break in. Gates forgot his keys, so he jimmied his own door. Police responded and according the story, verified that Gates was in fact the homeowner.

Then it gets into "he said, he said."
  • The police sergeant accused of racism after he arrested Gates insisted Wednesday that he won't apologize.

Police say Gates at first refused to display ID and then accused the officer of racism.

Sgt. James Crowley said he followed proper procedures in arresting Gates.
Frankly, knowing what we know about professors, we believe the Sergeant.

Knowing what we know about Harvard University professors, we believe the Sergeant should be considered for promotion to Lieutenant.

Finally, knowing what we know about the propensity for overly liberal gasbags who "work" as Harvard University professors to scream "racism!" whenever someone says, "Please pass the bottle of White-out," we think the Sergeant should be a candidate for Chief.

We'll just note that the Obama-sponsored Traffic Stop Statistical Study (TSSS) here in Illinois that was supposed to prove institutional racism on the part of police departments across the state, proved only that police officers stopped lawbreakers regardless of race and that not a single instance of racial profiling was ever noted in the study. So Obama's entire experience of police work was a preconceived notion that was roundly disproved at the cost of millions of dollars. And he thinks he can comment on an arrest in Cambridge he admits knowing nothing about?

We guess he may have just lost the law enforcement vote. Aside from him blowing off the Police Memorial for a sports team that is.

Hopefully all the "white guilt"-ridden assholes that voted this fool into the highest office in the free world will someday have an epiphany and see how they've contributed to the continuing demise of a once-great country.

Every campus cop I know will tell you most of the ivory towered think stop signs and speed limits are meant for the uncivilized masses without Ph.D's.

How bad is it? One ex-campus cop told he he gets more respect in the hood than he did on campus.

Remember, education and common sense are not always the same.

By us are you referring to you and your white mother?

When was the last time a PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES publicly commented about the arrest of a citizen in the United States? Guess there aren't to many more important issues on his plate at this time.

Guess the officer would have made a better decision if
1. he were a Puerto Rican woman not a white man

2. if he were in the boat

3. if he needed a bailout

4. if he were an illegal alien

5. if he needed free government health insurance

6. if he backed the bid

Lets see
The professor was gone for a few days and returns home late at night with a "friend". After realizing he lost his keys, he pries the door open. Neighbors see two men in the dark of the night prying a door open and call the police.

The police show up to find THE DOOR BROKEN. They enter and the professor inside the house. They then treat him as a suspect and conduct an on-scene investigation learning that the residence is his and leave the house. Professor Uppidity "I'm friends with B-Rock O-Bam-Ah" then follows the officers outside the house and continues to protest the police presence and the onscene investigation as a racial matter. Professor is arrested for disorderly conduct outside his house.

Now I dont know how he was treated in the house or what was said, but if I respond to a burglary in progress, find the door broken, detain a man inside until I can verify the ownership is his and leave. I would not think I was being racially motivated in my actions. I would think that the owner of the home would be, or should be glad that I responded to the call. At least a man of such a high education should be understanding about why and how he was detained and not allowed to roam freely through the house for my safety. I'm sure there is a level of embarassment for the professor but it is his studity that caused the arrest not the officers.

But the real reason the whole matter is a big deal is that Obama needs to further divide peolple as an us against them to continue pushing things through the legislature like health care, and cap and trade (tax). Keep the Black v White / Rich v Poor up and the free ride for the able but unwilling will continue. That is why the question was asked during his Health Care address. "Look at this not that."

I've read a bit about this story over the past few days and my OPINION is that both the Sergeant and the Prof could have acted better.

Once the Sergeant determined that Gates was in fact the homeowner he should have bid him adieu as Billy Shakespeare might have said.

If you read the police report, which I would link to if I was sober, Gates got a bit verbally abusive. Maybe a bit understandable since he was in his own house.

The Sergeant could have just walked away. Discretion is the key word in policing. Along with lunchtime.

As for President Obama I would have preferred if he hadn't said anything regarding the specifics of this case. Apparently he and Gates are friends. He's too close to the man to judge fairly.

Now can we get back to badmouthing Daley and talking about him sodomizing small dogs?

Taken from Fox News....

"Police say Gates yelled at the officer, accused him of racial bias and refused to calm down after the officer demanded Gates show him identification to prove he lived there. Gates denies that he yelled at the officer, other than to repeatedly ask his name and badge number, and he says he readily turned over his driver's license and Harvard ID to prove his residence and identity.

Gates said he was "outraged" by the arrest, wants an apology from Crowley and would use the experience to help make a documentary about racial profiling in the United States.

"This isn't about me, this is about the vulnerability of black men in America," he said.

He said the incident made him realize how vulnerable poor people and minorities are "to capricious forces like a rogue policeman, and this man clearly was a rogue policeman." "

As the Country rapidly swirls down around the toilet bowl. Everyday is a new day of complete and utter disgust for me lately. I love how in all the articles they continually cite "Gates, who is black" and "Crowley, who is white"... More often than not, these types of articles keep popping up in the media. Please take the race card and shove it as far up your ass as it will go mainstream media. Might as well get the death of America over with quickly, instead of a slow, prolonged nightmare. FUCK.... I feel sick.

I was reading a bit more on the Gates thing. Here's the problem right here. And look at the 'advice' his lawyer supposedly gave him. Gates says he got into the house and was on the phone calling to get his lock fixed when: The article reads “All of a sudden, there was a policeman on my porch. And I thought, ‘This is strange.’ So I went over to the front porch still holding the phone, and I said ‘Officer, can I help you?’ And he said, ‘Would you step outside onto the porch.’ And the way he said it, I knew he wasn’t canvassing for the police benevolent association. All the hairs stood up on the back of my neck, and I realized that I was in danger. And I said to him no, out of instinct. I said, ‘No, I will not.’ “

“My lawyers later told me that that was a good move and had I walked out onto the porch he could have arrested me for breaking and entering.”

Guess what Mr. Gates. If you had really been burglarizing that house the cop could chase you around inside for hours - yes he can come in to get you.
You are lying. No lawyer would tell you otherwise.

The article continues:
“He said ‘I’m here to investigate a 911 call for breaking and entering into this house.’ And I said ‘That’s ridiculous because this happens to be my house. And I’m a Harvard professor.’ He says ‘Can you prove that you’re a Harvard professor?’ I said yes, I turned and closed the front door to the kitchen where I’d left my wallet, and I got out my Harvard ID and my Massachusetts driver’s license which includes my address and I handed them to him. And he’s sitting there looking at them.”

So far all is well. Cop doing his job. Mr. Gates apparently understanding the situation and "sort-of" cooperating.
The article continues with a bit of... er ....um ....opinion ...on Mr. Gates part:

“Now it’s clear that he had a narrative in his head: A black man was inside someone’s house, probably a white person’s house, and this black man had broken and entered, and this black man was me. “

Anyway this next sentence is weird.

“So he’s looking at my ID, he asked me another question, which I refused to answer”

7/23/2009 03:00:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Gates never explains what that question is, nor why he refused to answer it. I am sure if the cop had called him something derogatory we'd be told.

The article continues:
“ And I said I want your name and your badge number because I want to file a complaint because of the way he had treated me at the front door. He didn’t say, ‘Excuse me, sir, is there a disturbance here, is this your house?’—he demanded that I step out on the porch, and I don’t think he would have done that if I was a white person.”

So what set Mr. Gates off? What exactly was that question he is so elusive about? The cop would not have told a white guy to exit the house? Why not?

“But at that point, I realized that I was in danger. And so I said to him that I want your name, and I want your badge number and I said it repeatedly. “

Explain yourself Mr. Gates. Were you simply in danger of being arrested? Or do you think the cop was going to beat you? Really? Explain yourself. You are calling a cop and out and out racist and accusing him of a false arrest. Pipe up Mr. Gates. Don't be shy. What was the question the cop asked you? The rest goes into the actual arrest. It just says Mr. Gates repeatedly asked the cop for his badge # and name and the cop refused. OK fine we'll go with that. And actually the cop does have an obligation to provide this info, usually by dept. rule. But I suspect Mr. Gates got well up in the cop's face. I suspect as soon as Mr. Gates accused the cop of treating him the way he did only because Mr. Gates was black ... the whole thing went to crap. Technically if you are yelling and screaming on the street like an A-hole you can be arrested for disorderly conduct. No one will ask this clown these questions.
There are a bunch more quips in the article of phone calls Gates received from high and mighty friends who expressed support and 'outrage.' Meaningless really. If they had any balls, or were true friends of your Mr. Gates, they'd ask you what really happened. The unvarnished truth. And they'd tell you to shut up about all the racist crap.

The article goes on:
“But really it’s not about me—it’s that anybody black can be treated this way, just arbitrarily arrested out of spite. And the man who arrested me did it out of spite, because he knew I was going to file a report because of his behavior. “
“He didn’t follow proper police procedure! You can’t just presume I’m guilty and arrest me. He’s supposed to ask me if I need help. He just presumed that I was guilty, and he presumed that I was guilty because I was black. There was no doubt about that.”

I think they arrested you because you flipped out and went nuts on the street for some question the cop asked you that you apparently won't talk about.
Gates talks about the lady who called the police. He understands and has no problem with her calling. But then he sort of twists the truth as to why he was arrested again. He says the he hopes the cops don't arrest the first black man they see.

More of the article:
“I don’t know this person, and I’m sure that she thought she was doing the right thing. If I was on Martha’s Vineyard like I am now and someone was trying to break into my house, I would hope that someone called the police and that they would respond. But I would hope that the police wouldn’t arrest the first black man that they saw—especially after that person gives them an ID—and not rely on some trumped-up charge, which is what this man was doing.”

You were not arrested for burglary Mr. Gates. You were arrested for what you did afterward. Gates then talks about his legal options after the charges are dropped. He goes into how many blacks are in prison and the implication it that they are wrongly imprisoned. This guy is too much.

7/23/2009 03:00:00 AM

From everything reported, it sounds like it was his own behavior that dictated how things went down.

Why didn't he just provide his ID when requested?
Oh I forgot, he's a "prominent black scholar" who's above having to cooperate with Police Investigations of possible burglaries in Progress.

The Officer was supposed to instinctively know that the person he found in the house matching the given racial/gender description, having gained entry into the home by force, and initially refused to provide ID...

Was a "prominent black scholar" who lived there.

Never, Ever, under any Circumstances, apologise to anyone for doing your job.

I have heard this comment quite often:

"the simple fact is that the cop should stopped as soon as he had the ID, and should have provided the information immediately on request and left. Problem solved."

-------

Ya, but ...

Really? ANd you know this how? Was not the cop conducting a Terry Stop, one which is completely authorized, and in fact, his duty? Is the cop obligated to cease this Terry Stop on some certain defined point? Was the I.D. presented by Mr. Gates dispositive? Did it list that address - he was renting that house, and I suspect it did not. Perhaps you have this information. Do you? Do you know why Mr. Gates refused the cops order to exist the house prior to seeing the I.D.? Do you think it was racial? ANd perhaps you are 'forgetting' that the cop turned and walked away. Did you get that? THe cop turned and walked away and exited the house. Gates was not under arrest. The cop was leaving. The cop did not order Gates out of the house at this point. THe situation was over. No arrest made. No poor black man wrongly arrested. Maybe I should type it once again. The cop saw the I.D. - asked Gates another 'mysterious' question that Gates refused to answer. Yet the cop did not push it and he turned to walk away and exit the house.

So there's your "that's it." There's your "after seeing the I.D." it should have been over.

Are you contending that after seeing the I.D. it was NOT over?

If so, please explain yourself.

You have to read this stuff a bit more critically and not bend to the every whim of the race-baiters.

And to presume to know when a Terry Stop - and an investigation of a possible burglary is 'over' is mindblowing .... absolutely mindblowing. You sure that Gates I.D. listed that address? How do you know? I bet it did not.

It's fair to say, SCC, that until you've lived in the shoes of a man of color, STFU, because as the President stated so clearly, it happens "all the time." Yes, we all know most cops have their hearts and heads in the right place, but truth be told, there are still plenty that give their respective PDs a very bad name.
Every black officer on CPD has no doubt witnessed some obvious abuse on other blacks by white cops; it's more prevalent in some districts than in others, but we've all seen it. And we know YOU see it too. Painting Obama as a "hater of Police" on the blog won't whitewash the truth (pun intended). Cameras are turning up more and more of this stuff every day. Our president is a cop hating racist. He admitted he knew little or nothing about the matter but, nevertheless, announced to the entire country that the police, i.e. white sergeant, acted stupidly. If that is not an example of racism and cop hating, I don't know what is. But, it shouldn't come as a surprise since BO has claimed in his bio to be a civil rights lawyer in Chicago, albeit for the blink of an eye. He also sponsored legislation and the infamous TSSS study reported by SCC which displayed his anti police attitude. If you think the federal judges are anti police now (and most of them are), just wait til BO starts appointing some judges. 55 and out looks better all the time. Policing in Chicago is the only profession I am aware of where a trained professional merely doing his/her job risks being sued, being made an example of in public, possible criminal prosecution, and financial ruin. So, is it any wonder why shootings and gang activity are on the rise and the bangers are increasing their hold on certain areas of the city?
Stay safe.

Wonder if Gates would have been upset if officer allowed an articulate black burglar to remain in his house after the police-call, simply because the man said "I live here"? It's as if Gates himself is "prejeudiced" against all burglars, assuming all of them to be scruffy, uneducated, and stupid.

However, if Gates presented his driver's license (as reported) to establish his residency at his house, then why was officer still pressing his investigation?

It takes two to tango. I bet both men lost control of their tempers at about the same time.

You know it was going to happen sooner or later. Now that Obama shot his little wad about racism from the highest office in the land, maybe he can go back to running the country. For him to comment when he did not know all the facts is disappointing.

The Obama traffic stop study (one of the very few things he did in the Illinois legislature) was written from the word go with conclusion the the police are guilty of profiling. When the intital period of 'study' passed with no indication of widespread racism, the police haters extended it and demanded more info on each stop. Gather up the poles, we're going fishing! But the 'study' has yet to provide any proof of a problem, despite the hopes of the racists who crafted it.

Mr. Get-beyond-race assumed my racism because I am the police. Now he adds stupidity.

Our President says he doesn't have the facts, says this out loud, and then automatically bashes the cops, and says he's going to have the feds work with locals to have fairer law enforcement. (J-Fed has shown us the feds know nothing about local law enforcement, but that doesn't matter)

Yes, Obama hates the police. Period. No disclaimers about just hating bad cops. He hates us. All. Period. And what we stand for. Period.

First the temp johns on the police memorial grounds when he was running for office, then blowing off the usual POTUS police memorial speech in DC for a baseball team, now this.

Thanks, Mr. Hope and Change. We have gotten your message loud and clear.

Thanks for the crap we will be getting from the average street dog who will feel empowered to throw this in our faces even more than they did before.

Someone better call ACORN and have them rev up the bogus voter registration machine. Barry O just lost the votes of almost a million cops.

Obama went on to say that police acted in good faith initially. Further relating that if he had "jiggered" the door at his Chicago home he would have been shot.

What he doesnt understand as all of us do when we let our minds roam into the possible flow of how this incident went down is that the second the seargent pulled up and asked what the professor was going on the professor took an attitude thinking that he was being unjustly fucked with.

He thinks that because he has a doctorate and teaches as "Haavaad" everyone should know like he as a tatoo on his fucking forehead advertising it. I'll bet the fucker even mentioned that he is a close personal friend of the presidents and started on that "i'll get you posted in alaska" line of bs. No wonder he still got arrested after showing I.D., the seargent was smart enough and had enough balls to stick to his guns. If he hadent the story would have still gotten out about the "unjust" treatment of the oppressed afluent black man and he would have been painted as a racist and a pussy instead of just a racist.

For my money you can claim I am alot of things, but not a pussy. That one is never acceptable and shouldnt ever be for anyone on the job.

Being called a racist, or having a homeowner not cooperate adequately is not a good reason to fabricate a DC charge, one that was promptly dropped on review.

That's right, you can go to a job and have it turn completely to shit through no fault of your own. This is the nature of police work. It's because we deal with the most dangerous animal on the planet, people! It would be interesting to do one of those psych exercises at the academy based on this case. Did the civilian keyless home owner push the Sgt.'s buttons, or did he really go over the top? I'd like to know if alcohol was involved as a few things stand out, of what little I know; a) lost his keys!, b) poor decision making about gaining entry, c) confrontational bordering on aggressive attitude. Normally, a citizen would sheepishly explain why they broke into their own home, be apologetic and thankful for the police response. This guy took the opposite tack. Finally, don't you just want to see the in-car of the transport vehicle and the in-station video? I'm betting this is why the professor's side is anxious to drop things officially, and yet still allow him to woof in public (oh yes demand that apology.) Poor Cambridge is in damage control mode, but they haven't yet thrown the Sgt. under the bus, to their credit. Axelrod should've steered BO away from these shallow waters. But I guess BO couldn't pass up showing he's still down with "the struggle." Don't take it too hard troops, he was speaking to stay credible with himself. Basically, it don't mean shit! Oh, and professor, remember that "today's victim is tomorrow's offender"...have a nice summer.

The politicians and the media have blown this whole thing out of proportion to the extent we may never know the truth.

In a way, I can understand how a guy in Gates' position could feel but I also understand the predicament the cop was in, too.

When I was a rookie I remember a check on the welfare call because a guy hadn't shown up for work, wife wasn't at work, kids not in school and no signs of life at the house. Did the credit card trick, popped the lock and found nobody at home. Left a note asking him to call.

This guy, who came here from the old Yugoslavia, came in loaded for bear. He was furious because "in the old country the police break into your homes." It took about 15 minutes of explaining for us to get him to understand that we don't just break into people's homes and the only reason we were there was because his employer and his kids' school were both worried that something may have happened to him. Apparently in the old communist countries you couldn't be fired from a job and so he just decided to take a couple of days off and go up to Door County with his family.

Unlike Gates, this guy eventually did come around and stopped back a couple of days later to apologize and drop off some home made pastries.

In this job sometimes things don't always go down the way they do in a textbook situation. While I was legally correct in entering the home, I understood how the Yugoslavian guy felt.

I am a black man who forgot that I am also BLUE. The following is my letter that I e-mailed to President Barack Obama this morning. If you'd like to write him go here:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/CONTACT/

Dear Mr. President,

I am a retired Chicago Police Officer and I voted for you. I did so because you APPEARED to be a thoughtful, intelligent young man. Last night I heard you say something that makes me question my assessment of your character.

AFTER saying you didn't "know all the facts"; AFTER saying "Skip Gates is a friend"; And AFTER saying you "may be a little biased here", you STILL SAID ON NATIONAL TELEVISION that the Police in Cambridge "acted STUPIDLY" in arresting him! How can you say that IF YOU DON'T KNOW ALL THE FACTS ! ! ! Might I suggest that a more appropriate response would have been, "I prefer not to comment on that since I don't have all the facts".

You, somehow, seem to no longer be in touch with reality. Young men are being shot and killed here in Chicago at an alarming pace. Attacks on Police Officers are also increasing at a whirlwind pace. You no longer have the luxury of being biased and sitting on the fence. You are representing the American people. As the Commander In Chief, you also MUST support LAW & ORDER.

Perhaps I am expecting too much from a President who would disrespect the families of America's Law Enforcement Officers who sacrificed their lives in the LINE OF DUTY. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is probably a day you remember. YOU spent it cajoling with a baseball team while REAL Americans wept for our lost brothers. No previous President has ever snubbed that Memorial Day. What would it have taken Mr. President, 10 minutes to place a wreath and honor the heroes? A few kind words to the heart broken?

To say that you have disappointed me as my President would be an understatement. In fact, at this point, I would probably have to say that I ACTED STUPIDLY when I entrusted you with my vote. Sorry, Mr. President, but I am not likely to act stupidly like that in the future.

I knew this would come out. Say something against the police and we all jump on it without thinking. When was the last arrest you made that you learned before you put the handcuffs on that the person was the homeowner? Disorderly? How do you become disorderly in your own house?

Yes, Gates may have been biligerent, but that's what we deal with as police officers. Is that a reason to make an arrest or is that abuse of authority? I don't like how you are responding to my demands so I'm going to lock you up!
The arrest report clearly showed that the sergeant was given the ID before the arrest was made. Of course, not as fast or as friendly as he would have liked, but no one should be arrested on an initial burglary call because officer and homeowner don't like each other.

People choose to acknowledge (or not) what is right in front of them.

7/23/2009 03:21:00 AM

Really? Do you mean like the Black Cops that refuse to acknowlege White Cops or Black bosses that refuse to sign arrests when victim and offender are black because a White Officer arrested the offender. Or individuals like Crump Hale that are promoted after incidents involving rcist acts that Whites would be immdietaley fired. The police have to respond to the possible break in. This means police have to show up to the man's home.

Now it becomes how do you act. Knowing what you did to enter your house might have looked suspicious enough for someone to call the cops (you would think a Harvard prof might have figured this out) you should present ID like everyone else.

Not knowing the facts and accusing people of acting "stupidly" in a position high as the president is unprofession and an act of stupidity.

Lets break this down Barney style.....for the slow minded politicians.

In high crime/call volume areas, they receive more police service, fact. So say it is Saturday night in Englewood and there is somewhere in the area of 50 to 100 police cars roaming around at any given time. We won't even get into the variety of traffic related offenses that occur in that shit hole, but a license and insurance is a miracle. Now compare that to say bt. 2211, which may or may not have 1 car available, not counting people trying to eat lunch. So if the police were stopping cars in Englewood, with ample good reason, it makes complete sense that there would be more blacks pulled over. Here in lies the problem, it makes sense!!! The folks that cry the loudest about how they need and want police, aren't happy with what they got. This is comparable just about anywhere in the country for that matter.
We don't need 50 cars in Mt. Greenwood, thankfully, but it would be nice to have the 1 we are assigned.

So he wanted a name and badge number, he insulted the Sergeant. He gets charged with Disorderly and the charges are pretty quickly dropped?? Doesn't sound right to me. Richard Weinblatt, director of the Institute for Public Safety at Central Ohio Technical College, said the police sergeant was responsible for defusing the situation once he realized Gates was the lawful occupant. It is not against the law to yell at police, especially in a home, as long as that behavior does not affect an investigation, he said.

"That is part of being a police officer in a democratic society," Weinblatt said. "The point is that the police sergeant needs to be the bigger person, take the higher road, be more professional."

We are fucked as a society, aren't we? Just sliding into a big pile of crap. God help us!

(if this is a double post, please delete the previous thing. My browser jumped somehow before I finished writing.)

>I've read a bit about this story over the past few days and my OPINION is that both the Sergeant and the Prof could have acted better.

I'm with you. These situations are fraught. The officer is thinking "crap, I've got another angry black guy jumping on me for doing my job." And the professor is thinking "I've got another angry copy hassling me when I haven't done anything wrong."

They're both right, sort of. Or at least, they're both acting logically based on their experiences.

I doubt this happens if it's a white guy - most white guys first impression is "fuck, it probably did look like I was breaking in." They'd laugh and show ID and sheepishly explain what happened.

Likewise, I don't think it happens if it's black cop. I think many black cops would quickly recognize what had happened, make a joke about it, and move on.

But because of the history of police/black relations, with many problematic situations in the background, both sides come in with a chip on their shoulder, or with a nervous, quick-tempered attitude. Things go to hell much more quickly.

I think the responsible thing to do on both sides is to laugh it off. It IS ludicrous that a professor got cuffed for shouting on his own porch when he hadn't done anything wrong other than being angry about being asked whether he had done something wrong. If you guys would step back a minute, you'd see that.

On the other hand, it IS ludicrous that a policeman would get attitude for trying to make sure someone's house was safe. After all, the professor's house was being protected, and it IS possible that someone might try to break into a black professor's house in Cambridg. He should have been happy they checked out the story.

It does no good to all go running back to your corners, pointing fingers and thumping your buddies on the back "look how awful those guys are." That's far more stupid than anything a Cambridge policeman did in the haste and concern of a situation where he felt antagonized. Everybody needs to calm down.

Check out the officer's side of the story. Sounds like a very decent person and shows that Obama may have, once again, put his foot in his mouth by speaking without thinking or knowing the facts.

Don't expect an apology any time soon, though. Liberal retards never seem to acknowledge when they are wrong. Their good intentions always count more.

Umm, like this post. Quit thumping your chest and calm down. You sound like an angry twelve year old. Obama doesn't hate cops any more than I hate black people. I don't, and he doesn't. He's seen people get hassled. I've seen people get hassled. I've seen cops get antagonized. Posts like yours are exactly equivalent to "fuck the poh-leese" comments on the street. Also, apparently the neighbors who called 911 about the possible break in at Gates' home did not even recognize their own neighbor. apparently this guy does not associate with his own neighbors.

is there any other sign that maybe, just maybe, now is the time to show up after the fact and give them a burglary report when their homes are broken into? Now we have the president calling us stupid for trying to protect this person's house.

Some day they will ask us to start policing again. Until then give them what they want.

Here is a scenario. Police respond to burglary in progress call. Police spot a strange person in the house. Police ask him to step out. The person says no.

The police should just then leave the scene? Just because this unknown person says they will not come out? Well that person may live there, or that person may be a burglar. Should we protect their property or worry about upsetting the homeowner who does not like the police?

What do people want us to do when we spot a burglar in their home? just leave them alone because they will not come out?

Some people just don't want police service. Others have a martyr syndrome that they want the whole world to know about.

Good job to the sergeant. too bad you didn't get a thanks for responding so quickly and looking out for this nitwit's home.

Almost always, so-called "racial profiling" is highly speculative, if not a symptom of paranoia and/or just trying to cause a shitstorm by "playing the race card". (YAWN).

Do you recall the preposterous "racial profiling" claims of both U.S. Congressman Danny Davis and James Meeks when they were stopped for traffic violation(s) at 15th & Kedzie and 11500 S. Indiana, respectively.

Both neighborhood populations are entirely black. Based on the facts, virtually any motorist stopped for a traffic violation could claim to be a victim of "racial profiling". Barring substantive evidence to the contrary, the media should ignore such bullshit.

I was not in the People's Republic of Cambridge when Henry Louis Gates made allegations in a "he said; he said" incident. Neither was Obama.

Let's cut a deal, Mr. President. Both of us just shut the fuck up.

He is a racial profiling expert who taught the subject at Lowell Police Academy, he tried to revive Boston Celtic star Reggie Lewis when he collapsed and died during a practice and is well liked by all his colleagues. His statement was far more professional than what the president said, which was the equivalent of taking sides with a friend despite the facts. Chicago nepotism at its finest! Don't apoligize Sgt Crowley, we got your back! This is little more than a bunch of influential black leaders trying to make a media event out of a bunch of bullshit. Alot of policemen would have had guns drawn and put Gates in cuffs before asking him anything, and they would have been right to do so based on the call and safety reasons! This Sgt tried the slower and more respectful approach and got slammed for it! And Obama comments on a small local problem in front of a national audience and has the "audacity" to call it out as a national problem! Every minority criminal applauds you Mr. President! You've given your stamp of approval to disrespect the police based on the race card. But they won't just use words, they'll use bullets, knives and fists. And in neighborhoods like Englewood all over the country, you've just made life harder for the decent people who have to lie on their bedroom floor or in their cast iron tub for fear of a stray or intentional bullet coming into their house. Oh, and by the way, the White House is not your house. It belongs to the 300,000,000 citizens of the USA. You are a guest, act like an appreciative one.

This is Obama's pattern of behavior... to continually inject himself into situations with claims of holding all the answers… even though he simply has no clue what he’s talking about.

His arrogance is mind-boggling.

He put a gun to everybody's head while insisting on the near trillion dollar "stimulus" that hasn't done shit (except payoff Democrat supporters and bankrupt generations to come). He's pressuring this health-care fiasco down our collective throats... while admitting that he hasn't even read the thing. He claims he can cure the sagging economy... yet, he's never run so much as a cub scout troup.

Now... in probably his only comment last night not rolled in front of him on one of his beloved teleprompters, he publicly comments about a case in which he admits he doesn't have the facts (but, he sure was quick to judge the white cops, wasn’t he?).

The good news is, by all accounts, police officers (not only in Boston, but throughout the country) are furious at this president and now have gotta figure that they do not have Obama's support.

Hell... if I was a black thug and I heard Obama say that shit, I'd think he just gave me the green light to do whatever I wanted to whoever I wanted.

The top American black scholar Henry Louis Gates has been arrested after accusing police officers of “racism” when they demanded that he prove his identity in his own home near Harvard. Sounds shocking, doesn’t it?

The Boston Globe has an account of this complicated incident, which seems to have begun when the professor locked himself out of his house. It portrays Gates as the injured party, handcuffed and taken into custody for (Gates implies) the crime of being a black man.

Hmm. The self-important Gates, who runs Harvard’s African-American research centre, has never been slow to allege racism. And the fact that he now faces a charge of disorderly conduct is presented by his supporters as proof of police discrimination.

I won’t comment, except to say: read the police report, which the Globe supplies here in pdf format. [Not any longer, it seems.] It’s absolutely fascinating. It doesn’t just depict Gates playing the race card; it describes him flinging a whole pack of 52 race cards at the officers. And it doesn’t surprise me one bit.

Where the safe!" duct-tape-and-rape home-invasion crew of the sort that targets affluent people like flashy NBA and NFL players, etc...

The more you do for some people, the more they hate you for it.

Tell the truth how many of you have seen a White person act totally ignorant, in his house, front porch, in the streets, at a bar, and not be arrested. I bet if a Black guy in his home acts stupid in the "hood" he at least get handcuffs put on him. White's I bet that situation does not happen to often.
I doubt if the Officer was racist, but how many on this department know that some White Irish family "Daley's" have been ignorant for years and been covered even when they have spit at, and struck the police. Know tell me which one was arrested? So fuck off,if he was White I bet he would not have been arrested.

I'm sure there aren't all that many Police Officers that are upset by his DUMB ASSED comment. We didn't like him from the get-go.

He may not like us but we are watching his Shitcago home so he can't not like us all that much.

Rest assured, after this term is over, he can go back to hob-nobbing with his University of Chicago homey's who will no doubt find a very well paying (no show) job for his wife. I know he's a "one hit wonder" . He can get back with his Chicago Machine buddies and make mucho $$$$$$$$$ under the table, consultant fees, and because he is one of "Da Boys" (no racial slur intended). I hear that it's great to be a Democrook & a friends of that little greasy headed, short leg leprechaun who uses Shity hall to advance his personal gain (bank account). Keep it real shortshanks ! Take Rev Flatulence to more baseball games, it'll really improve your political image in Englewood.

Even though the election is far off, Rev Flatulence has his minions painting re-election signs in support of daley & the Olympics. "Lil Shorty be's our frend !! Bring Olimpics here, we need new prey.

Doesn't a Harvard professor strike you more as the type who'd get on their $1000 cell phone and call a locksmith...or someone from "campus services" if the house was indeed owned by the school...or even campus or city police to quietly "request assistance?" The coppers are probably used to calls from Nobel Prize winners who can't remember how to tie their shoes...

On the other hand, someone with a snootful (especially on top of an underlying animus)-- no matter who they are -- might do just about anything.

Hmm.

Sorry, 0321, but Obama acted stupidly in judging the incident without the facts. You either are not the police, or not the real police, because all real cops know the pendulum of racism on this job has swung far away from "evil-whitey." If I see race-based abuse by fellow officers I do something about it. Were you the real police you would know that when responding to a burglary in progress by an M/1 in which you show up and see the door busted in and an M/1 inside, you control the situation for safety first. Same goes for a 2,3,4,5 or 6 retard. Even after establishing the man is the homeowner, if he follows me at a close distance while I try to leave his house and refuses to distance himself from me, I will arrest him for Obstruction. (One of MA's disorderlies) You do not have the right to scream at and stand directly behind a police officer who is legally in your home. You will keep a safe distance or be arrested. Otherwise you are requiring the police to be in a dangerous position. Real police know these things, whether black, white or pink. Go back to your job race-baiting at Rainbow-Push.

Obama is a coward for not commenting how "Historically" minorites perpetrate crime at a higher percentage than whites. Instead he says they are arrested at a higher percentage. So long as cowards on the left refuse to address the real issues of crime in minority communitties and take the easy way out to blame the "racist" police, blacks and hispanics will suffer with the crime.

You go anywhere in Chicago as a white police officer and try to tell a Black person they are wrong,
or have violated the law in some way , you will 95 % of the time be yelled at in an ignorant way telling you how you are racist and
only stopped them because they are black. What you do at that point can be the difference of doing your job or being the story on the news. Sorry kids many blacks use race as an excuse , it's called denile, that they did wrong.
The best you can do is your job
by the book in the most professional way possible. a black
cop hater can't stand a policeman who is professional, curtieous, doesn't raise his voice at the offender, as the suject calls him
every thing in the book. they are looking for the city lottery and want you to respond badly don't fall for it. It drives people crazy
and makes them more angry when you
remain calm , i can't say i have always remained calm but i do try
most of the time.
cop whose been there many times!

Something is missing from this whole scenario. I believe the sgt., and furthermore, said sgt. teaches the racial profiling class at their academy. Placed in that position by me least favorite of former cpd boss', ronnie watson. Since I know for a fact ronnie is an out and out racist, this sgt. much be legit.

You guys missed the comment about Chicago. Check out the 4th para of his answer. This is from the transcript of Obama's press conference and what outraged me:

Q Thank you, Mr. President. Recently, Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. was arrested at his home in Cambridge. What does that incident say to you? And what does it say about race relations in America?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, I -- I should say at the outset that Skip Gates is a friend, so I may be a little biased here.

I don't know all the facts. What's been reported, though, is that the guy forgot his keys, jimmied his way to get into the house; there was a report called into the police station that there might be a burglary taking place.

So far, so good, right? I mean, if I was trying to jigger into -- well, I guess this is my house now, so -- (laughter) -- it probably wouldn't happen.

(Chuckling.) But let's say my old house in Chicago -- (laughter) -- here I'd get shot. (Laughter.) But so far, so good. They're -- they're -- they're reporting. The police are doing what they should. There's a call. They go investigate. What happens?

WHAT A JERK!!!

You should have seen the two idiots on Chicago Tonight talking about this. One actually seemed to imply that the neighbor who called it in was wrong because she said that two "black men" were breaking in.

So now if there's a crime being committed, you can no longer describe the race if the criminal happens to be black. I guess any other race is still ok, but if it's a black criminal, just leave that part out.

What a pack of goofs.

In any case too much is being made of this.

I dont know if this was covered yet but on hannity the point was made that the door was broken due to a previous break in and this asshat gates refused to supply his ID. I hope that any good burglar out there finds out where gates lives and takes advantage of the fact that these asshat liberals love them, and then they steal everything from right under their noses. Shame on the president for his idiotic comments, which only dilutes race relations. Good job on the coppers part for refusing to apologize.

I have to repeat my favorite stupid "race card" story.

I was outside Yosemite when a surprise fall snowstorm closed off a road. While waiting for it to be opened I was talking with a California Highway Patrolman who was ragging about some mope who claimed the only reason he was stopped was because he's black.

"I'm sorry, sir," the officer said, "But apparrently you haven't been following the news."

"The state is broke. We don't have money to buy color radar like The Weather Channel.

"We just have the old fashioned kind and all it told me is that you were driving 90 miles per hour. You can see it if you want but that's all it told me -- 90 miles per hour."

Every black officer on CPD has no doubt witnessed some obvious abuse on other blacks by white cops; it's more prevalent in some districts than in others, but we've all seen it.

That's funny. I've been on the job for 9 years and I've seen my share of hatred towards blacks by white cops but its minimal to the hatred I've seen black cops unleash on their own. At times I've been stunned by the beating black cops dish or the total disrespect they give to black people. So quit making it a white and black thing because the hatred towards these animals is felt by all races of cops.

7/23/2009 01:09:00 PM

you know what's even funnier? I have about the same time on as you and have worked in busy districts and EVERY SINGLE instance I witnessed where a white police officer "hated" on a black person as you say, "acted a fool" and deserved it. EVERY SINGLE TIME the guy jeopordized the officer;s safety. Also, I NEVER EVER witnessed a white officer have nothing better to do but to "hate" on a black guy. For no reason. NEVER.
In fact, EVERY single instance I witnessed where a black officer did his job on a black thug, was appropriate. The bottom line is, drop the race bullshite, if you act like a jagoff you'll be treated like a jagoff. It doens't matter to officers what race you are as long as we handle the situation and go home. KMA.
