WBBM 780 keeps referring to the Chicago Police Officer as a "security guard:"
- One of the three men who escaped from the Indiana State Prison has been caught in a southwestern Michigan town by a security guard for Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.
The Daleys were sleeping inside their home during the incident, said Jacquelyn Heard, the Mayor's spokeswoman. - ...one of Mayor Daley's security detail officers spotted escaped inmate Smith approximately a quarter of a mile away from Mayor Daley's summer home and apprehended the unarmed suspect at gunpoint in a home's driveway near the mayor's house in Grand Beach, which is about eight miles from the prison.
First up, good job to the Officer. Your actions are a credit to the Department, even though the mayor's people aren't referring to you as a "Chicago Police Officer."
Second, we must confess we feel much better knowing that everything in Chicago is all good...so good that the Shortshanks family can take a vacation in the midst of 10% unemployment; 13, 17, even 30 unpaid days off for various workers; aggravated batteries climbing; police and fire personnel passing two years without a contract; businesses shuttering at a record pace, almost as fast as the housing stock.
The economy must be turning around so we'll expect a contract Friday at the latest.

Listen name me one function that is police related that these guys perform on a daily basis? None. None of these officers and I use that term loosely have ever been the police and never will be. They are the hand picked flunkies of Richie. So being called a security officer is not that far from the truth.

I'm a former Berrien County special deputy. CPD Officer Michael Smith stepped up to the plate here. Not only did he make the collar but stayed behind to help while the mayor went back to the city.
We probably haven't had a manhunt like this in this area since the 1970's when two state troopers were shot about five miles up the road.
Meanwhile, some folks at the prison in Michigan City damn well better have their gonads toasted. Word is that they let the three escapees "repair" the tunnels that they apparently escaped through.
As for the Daleys, for whatever crap the son is in, the family have been pretty good neighbors over the years. I remember some of the guys on the "security detail" laughed their asses off when a very young local marshal had the audacity to accost hizzoner about a parking violation. On the other hand, the old man and "sis" frequently went out of their way to say hello or offer refreshment.
Your guys have always been great to us here. My first education about gangs, drugs, etc., came from the CPD guys who were only too willing to share their war stories and advice. I also recall in the 70's some of us went to the city to donate blood for a wounded CPD officer. Each a nice thank you letter from hizzoner and the superintendent.
And as for the would-be journalists: security guard my ass.

Imagine one of his department heads spending a long weekend at the family compound at the families' lakefront retreat.
Then imagine that department head looking in the Tribune the next day to find out he has been fired by Mayor Stuttering Prick.
It is no wonder that Shortshanks comings and goings are not reported. But then, the more he is in the City the more he will fuck things up. It isn't like he has any pressing issues to deal with here or anything. Labor contracts in year three of no contract, mass layoffs imminent this week, gaping budget holes (his version) rampant crime, shootings and murders all over. Nope, nothing important in Chicago for a chief executive to deal with.
What we need here is one of the Stuttering Pricks security detail to become a regular poster on SCC. Now that would increase readership a ton. I'll bet SCC could sell ads like crazy for car dealers, sandwich shops and Sham-wow.

Try D-3 pay and 4 hours overtime a day at least.
King Richie always goes to his "vacation Home" every Sunday and Monday. He works on Saturdays at all the BS marches and such. He always gets his two days off, unlike many he expects to work 7 days a week. The place on Indiana Ave. is somewhere he flops for the night.

I remember many yrs ago working downtown as a Doorman and meeting then Gov. Voynavich of Ohio and his wife, now he is a U.S. Senator. This guy drove up from Ohio with his wife. That's it. You have to be connected to get a spot on the bodyguard detail, but not connected to the major. A handful of POs who worked for me ended up on the detail because of their connection to the head of the detail. All of these officers that I knew were good, hardworking tactical officers for years before getting this plum. Please do not lump all of them in the same bucket. You would take this assignment if offered, and you know it. You would be a fool not to. The fact that it is not right to have such a large detail and pay them considerably more does not justify attacking the members of the detail.
The mayor works 1/2 day on Saturday, attending community events. The detail drives him to his Michigan house for the weedend. He returns either on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning depending on the schedule.
CBS, like the other state-run media outlets, put their own spin to the news. These idiots think that J-Fed is a real police officer!

Don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors from the "big city police" by listening to their war stories. They're all clout heavy and have never done a day of police work. The mayor and his family are all crooks and could care less about average people and even less about police officers.
Phoenix is what, the 4th or 5th largest city. A few years ago, I was at a local nursery buying some plants when the mayor walked in pulling a wagon with his triplets in it. No security, nothing. Just the mayor and his 3 kids.
All of his people have a "security specialist" job title code! They are not 9161 like us poor schmucks. That is probably why they are calling him a "security guard". Worked with Mike in 009 years ago. He is a good cop!

Umm not 3, but more always! like eddie burke when he goes to wisconsin a driver and passenger "valet" more city business? More free fuel? More D-3 overtime pay?
He should have invited escapee in for a cup of tea with shortshanks, maybe the escapee could have negotiated us a contract

My understanding was that no one was confirming that the "security officer" was actually CPD in the first reports after he captured one of the escapees -
There are several different agencies working this escape so conflicting information is bound to occur and the press shouldn't print something they can't confirm.
It was confirmed after some delay though so WBBM should be pulling their head out of their ass by now.
However if you read the various stories in the media -you can see how the trib plays up the officer and the chicago connections while the NW indiana papers focus on the escape, the search and the security of the prison that would allow this to happen.

A good point can be made here about gun laws and home safety. It must be nice for the mayor to say that average law abiding citizens can't have guns, but he has HEAVILY armed security. The aldercreatures have the ability to carry or have their own security. Yet these are the people saying that good people can't have weapons. The ten percent unemployment rate is measured by the number of people collecting unemployment insurance. Once the unemployment runs out, the government takes them off the unemployment roles!
This is a true fact. If you want to get an accurate number of unemployed people, the government can't or WON'T provide the actual number.
However, there is a better way to determine unemployement. Google "tent city" and read the results. The economy is much darker than reported.
You can't call the PO the police while out of state. He must be called a security guard otherwise shortshank would appear as though he is using City of Shitcago resources out of state. But did you see all of the marked Shitcago squads in Michigan. He had more manpower from the shity than some districts.

To be fair, I believe the mayor should have a security detail. Only the mayor. It's ridiculous that the rest of these goofs are surrounded by security and weaponry when half of them are felons anyway.

Chicago Police Involved In Shooting In Elgin

Chicago police were involved in a shooting on U.S. Interstate 90 near the Elgin Toll Plaza tonight, authorities said.
Two Chicago Police officers were taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for medical evaluation, but they appeared to not have suffered any serious injuries, Michaels said.
A source said that after police stopped the person's car, the driver tried to run down an officer. That was when police fired at the car, striking a person inside, the source said. It was unclear how many people were in the vehicle.

He makes them sleep in his garage like dogs, with cots, but they are paid overtime everytime they go to "the house"! Average salary base pay is $95,000 each, plus all the overtime,12 days a month work, and all the special at D-3 rate they want nice huh!

No myself nor a lot of other cops I know would take this assignment. Because we are grown men that are the police. Not a chaffeur or valet or gopher. Call me dum but I have some pride. If I wanted to do that kind of stuff I would be a limo driver.
