An interesting story trickling in following the Burger Queen at Midway tales.
It seems a certain Police Commander is a big fan of Elton John and Billy Joel and was determined to meet them come hell or high water. So when the stars showed up at Midway Airport, a contingent of fans, including the aforementioned Commander and numerous associates, including armed Police Officers (who aren't assigned to Midway), managed to get onto the airfield itself in violation of TSA regulations and Federal Law.
And to top it off, she provided the celebrities with an armed escort to waiting cars and allegations are being made that she was paid for this service via a private security firm. IPRA, IAD and News Affairs are aware of the situation and are attempting to bury this abuse of exempt rank by any means possible. We can only imagine what the initiation report must have looked like.
So is J-Fed aware of this disaster? Or is he part and parcel of the cover up?

If no money changed hands, as a PO I would have no problem with this situation no matter who went to the airport armed as a member as law enforcement, however, once a payment was made for services of city vehicles it is now BS and any blue shirt would be pending, and this commander also needs to be pending.

Once again only one sgt on the whole watch today and an emergency comes out that ended up requiring a sgt. BUT, the only sgt on the street was tied up with something else and wasn't able to help out. How embarrasing them calling over and over again on the radio and no sgt to respond.
Believe me, i don't blame the sgts, they are more shorthanded than us.
So please, make some more damn sgts already if that's the case. According to our orders some jobs just have to have sgts on them and when there are none.... well, what the hell does that leave us to do?
I apologize this is OT, SCC, but a big injustice and insult has to be set right. In Sunday’s Scum-Times there is a story of a “firefighter” (TB) who “saved” an abandoned baby at 44th and Rockwell. The story goes on to say how TB “peered into the plastic trash can lying on its side and saw only a dirty, wet bundle.” The story quotes TB as saying how he “picked up the blanket slowly, unwrapped it and saw the head and face”, implying that he pulled that baby from the trash can. Too bad for TB that is not what happened, but why should the Scum-Times and TB be bothered with the truth?
The real story is that the call came out and one of the 009 Dist. midnight tact teams was right there, literally! Officer EM and her partner opened that trash can and rescued that baby, not that wanna-be hero TB! It was Officer EM who reached into that can and pulled that baby out and it was Officer EM whom that baby first laid eyes upon! After rescuing the baby, Officer EM was cradling that baby in her arms when the fire truck pulled up and she handed the baby to a “firefighter”, whether it was TB or not I don’t know. So if anybody should be lauded in the papers it should be EM and her partner.
TB, how do you look at yourself in the mirror? I guess it isn’t hard seeing how you actually had the audacity to pose for a picture at the scene. How do you look at you wife and kids and tell them this story knowing it’s a lie? Was it your idea to spin this tale or one of your buddies? TB, if you were any kind of man and had the least bit of integrity and courage you would step up and set things straight, but I’m not holding my breath. Just remember TB, every time you look at that article, tell the story and accept the BS award that you will probably get you will be looking at a farce, the same thing that stares back at you when you look in the mirror! TB, if you want to see and experience what real heroes do everyday then put on a vest, strap on a duty belt and ride around with Officer EM and her partner on midnights in the thirty sector, then you will see who America’s real heroes are!
EM, for what it is worth, you and your partner have the kind of integrity and courage that TB and whoever else is in on his sham can only dream about. Good job, Office!
If this is true, why would anyone want to be associated with that type of conduct? Unfortunately, I think that it very likely that it is true.
And people wonder why individuals are suspicious, not of only the police, but the motives that some apply to their everyday job.
Someone please rectify this disparity.

Once again, this is prima facie evidence, of the two tier CPD disciplinary system. The one for the "CLOUTED" and the one for the working stiff without clout.
If you are related to an Alderman, Da Mayor or someone with big dollars and influence you are untouchable no matter what you do.
Hopefully the Superintendent takes some meaningful action in relation to this blatant and unjust standard we are subjected to.

i just have to say that there was 56 homicides in July. I think it's being reported that there was only 42? 56 is 4 less than last year.
As for 041A's there was 224 last year and 224 this year.

Since we are on the topic of airports I thought of flying things. It seems the city finally found use for PH2! A special effect. The city got it there on time (without it having to refuel) and it did its job correctly.
Sunday night at the opening of the Janes Addiction set PH2 rose up from behind the stage and flew many circles all the while using its spotlight on the crowd and stage. This was actually planned as I found out by talking to Perry after the show.
So this is just great, chases and searches its nowhere to be found but for theatrics to open a set its right on time....
Furthermore, every event downtown that we have monitored it on, it always seems to be "going in for fuel" during the critical times of the event. I think this 03JUL was the 1st time it planned its refuelling properly.
I guess for all the money Perry brings to this city over the 3 days its the least the mighty midget can give back.
If he gets a CR and does not have an arrest for the year he will be in the red on his performance eval! ...oh wait nevermind that is only for Blue Shirts. He can do whatever he wants. 19P

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I do understand the CPD has it's own stress and I give credit to ALL police working the streets but I will not tolerate LIARS. I was there when TB found that baby in the garbage can. Was CPD on scene?....YES. Did CPD find the baby?......NO. Was 2 CPD officers chatting on their cell phones while they "should" have been searching for a baby?.....YES. Were the other CPD members on scene gathered in a group huddle exchanging stories and laughing?.....YES.
I understand the CPD is always in the media spotlight and when ever a CPD officer is on my fire scene and they do something heroic or outstanding......I give them credit. But on THIS particular scene, the overweight black neighbor who was missing some teeth were more of a help!
If your looking to jump on a hero's shoulder, atleast make it "look" like you were trying to help out...and try to stay off the phone.

That was not PH2. I was there and that helicopter had NO police markings, it was a private helicopter.
However I would wonder how, or if, they got it approved to fly the way they did. That chopper flew low and pretty crazy to be a part of the laser light show.

Also, it seems, without indictment or any type of scrutiny by law enforcement.
I read months ago that the US Attorney is "looking into" this. What's going on there Mt. Fiszgerald?
Why has our own Illinois Attorney General, little miss Lisa Madigan, not looked into this one?
This crap is sickening. The Daley clan just continues to pillage our pension funds without interference.
Indeed, "high-ranking members of the Daley administration who voted to approve the reworked deal" put the imprimatur over the continued outrages of the Daley Criminal Enterprise.
Lateral move, Burger Queen to the Academy and Baby Ruth to 003. I think that would be justice. Since there are no recruits left after Sept she can't hurt anyone and Ruth will be closer to home and can do lunch with Ginger.

From my experience (not as a Cop), Clouted people support incompetent misfits for a number of reasons:
Job preservation -- You don't want to hire a person that is a better go-getter then you, as you could lose your job to that person.
By stacking the workbase with incompetents you lower the performance expectation of the over all workforce which serves two purposes. One, it requires you to hire twice the necessary number of dog-asses to do things that would otherwise take half the numbers in competent manpower to do the work.
Two, maintaining an inefficient workplace the incompetent management is protected in so far as incompetent dog-asses working for them stay in line and don't call for better management because they might have to do an honest days work at there next job. The producers that bring home the beans who slipped in to the system keep there head down and just do there job because they got families to provide for and if the make noise and pop there head out of the rabbit hole the clout machine will squish them.
Where municipal employment is concerned, hiring dolts assures a steady crop of non-independent thinking people which is very beneficial in adding to the votes of the dead, the unspoken quid pro quo of the Reverends and voting gang bangers, and the mentally challenged people bussed in to vote in Cook County elections.
Lastly, those in power get a warm fuzzy feeling and an ego boost employing people that they think wouldn't have a pot to piss in if it were not for them.

If this is true, there are some real problems.
1. It is a federal offense to bring non-authorized persons airside.
2. Payment for bringing non-authorized persons onto the airfield is a FEDERAL offense.
3. There is a city Dept of Aviation piolicy that forbids this.
4. If the Midway FSD ( Federal Security Director ) ignores this, they should and could loose their job.
5. The security firm at the airport that allowed this is also in violation of the contract and federal guidelines.
6. The aviation police supervisor is also now in trouble, along with the airport managment who covered this up.

CPD continuously embarrass ourselves by acting in highly unprofessional ways. Heard a similar story when Michael Phelps landed at Midway... Bunch of tact guys, a Lt, and a couple Sgts hounded the guy taking pictures and asking for autographs on various items... This department is in no way, shape, or form the professional organization it claims to be... It is a bad joke, with terrible supervision, ridiculous policies, awful equipment, and more often than not is closer in resemblence to a barnum and bailey fucking circus than a professional law enforcement organization!!! In other words... I AM NOT SURPRISED!!!
On their first visit to Midway , they were given an escort by CPD and Wedster was there. I assumed that they were detailed there.
They probably got paid the same amount as we all get paid when we play armed security for celebs and various VIP's at the whim of our bosses... Zero.
J-Fed is part of the "different rules for different folks" crowd now and he will only keep up the tradition. But he does have the lowley P.O.'s back, just ask Bill Cozzi as he sits in a federal cell right now. J-fed has turned a blind eye to several incidents involving the "special" people. Nothing will change it's just the way it is in the corrupt city of chicago. The lowley P.O. has to protect themselves by whatever means.

NO PROBLEM... That's all in the case report, right? I mean, Aunt EM did do a case report, right? They didn't just play the old tact car game of blowing off the job on someone else since there is no CB # involved? Take the case report, give a copy to your Sgt, make copies of the media reports, and ask the Sgt to put Aunt EM and Co. in for the appropriate award.
And btw, great learning experience.
Sometimes the TRUE story is not really the story that gets told.
Once when I had a little over a year on the job, we were on our way to a domestic when a home invasion in progress came out. A big Police manhunt in the area caused the bad guy to hide under a porch. Victim was found murdered still clutching the phone and still connected to 911 dispatchers. The entire crime and murder was caught on tape at 11th and State. The search for the offender finally spooked him from under the porch and a foot pursuit followed. My partner and I caught him and cuffed him along with a VC Detective and 1 guy from the paper car, 4 guys total. 6 guys got Dept Commendations on that arrest but my partner and I were not among them.
The Sgt on scene, trying to put cars back up for service, said for us to go handle our domestic since we had accepted the job and were already on it for 30 minutes. He said the paper car and Detectives would get the processing done at the area. Turns out our names never got on the report though our cuffs were on the prisoner. The dicks decided the case would be better when it got to court with fewer officers involved. At that point of my career, I hesitated to speak up, but after that incident, it never happened again.
Ha...RW??? What a joke...she is going to lead training? The Department's future is now lost along with its present. FIRE HER NOW!

Why attack Wedster? She has been a huge asset to the training division. Ruth might be very tight with Aunt Bea but females stick together. Exempts, in my humble opinion deserve special perks for all of the hard work they perform for the department. After all, only the best qualified are selected to achieve this high honor of command. I knew that story was bullshit the minute I read it. Police would almost certainly respond to that job before CFD.
Now, if a PO did respond first, then there would have to be some record of him getting there first. Once the baby was found, the PO's must have gotten on the air and told OEMC that the call was bonifide and requested an ambulance. They had to do that. All of those transmittions would be timed stamped and could be compared with CFD's transmittions, which would easily uncover this scam.
But, the real problem with this story is that the people responsible for the rescue are the people who called. If someone says there's a baby in a garbage can, and the police come, and there is a baby in the garbage can, did the police rescue the baby? Or, did the caller?
Do Tinkerbell and Rambo do anything in 016 on 3rd watch? Thanks for watching the neighborhood! It's nice to hear that they moan about no contract, CR'S, and morale, but they work 6 hours and DO NOTHING!!! Again, thanks. How about the wagon guy who blew off the detectives family member on a garage burglary? No flash, no report and then gets hot and calls the rapid guys out who actually went and did the report. It's great to see that 016 is protected by cops that are protecting our families. I hear it's all whinners who are out for themselves. The former "working police" on third watch should'nt be pushed around to do ALL the jobs every night. Let the DOGS do something!! Where's the supervision? I'd love to leave 025 and come to 016, but what's the point if there are no positives! It's only a short time until 016 is as bad as every place in area 3 and area 5!!! 2 More Mugging Victims On North Side

Two people were mugged early this morning in the North Side's North Center neighborhood, one of them critically, Chicago police said.
One of the muggings, which is being categorized as a battery, happened in the 3300 block of North Hoyne Avenue. The victim, a 53-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition.
The other mugging, which involved a newspaper deliveryman, happened about 4:20 a.m. in the 2000 block of West Belmont Avenue. Taylor said crime was being categorized as an armed robbery, but she could not say whether anything was taken from the victim, believed to be in his 30s.

If you are armed, in uniform, in a marked car and have an assignment to an airport, that shouldn't be the issue. C.P.D., I.S.P. and C.C.S.P. are called to the airports all the time and coordinate their moves with T.S.A.

Was perhaps this through SPECIAL EVENTS, like the Movie Detail. Before Shortshanks destroyed the movie industry in Chicago I used to work that frequently. We were off duty, paid by the production company, and one of the jobs was to provide security for the high-line talent. This included using marked C.P.D. cars. When the rare film or TV crew come to town, look for a marked car, the Beat Tag might say FILM 1, FILM 2.
Or was this just a courtesy provided a visiting celebrity and this Commander was in the know, didn't have anything better to do and volunteered because she would enjoy the assignment. So who wouldn't? I enjoyed the Movie Detail.

We went out to CO and had a chance to visit Densey. The support by not only Denver PD but all the surrounding communities and LEO's from different states was amazing! It is so good to know that when one of our own can't be with us he and his wife are being taken care of. I only hope that we return the favor if the need ever arises here!

I've been on the job for 21 years and have always worked patrol in Area 4 and of late, Area 3 districts. So no, I don't work in 016.
I've lived in 016 for 18 years, have needed the police 3 times, and have gotten great service every time. If anything, they need more people there and smaller beats. The beats and geography of the place are fucking ridiculous. Its criss-crossed with expressways, woods, rivers, train tracks, etc... Frankly, I'm surprised they do as good a job as they do.
Oh yeah, and don't forget that every other call involves a drunken city worker.

You are pitting yourselves one against the other, and you're just one example in many. Here on the blog,any differing opinion is given the canvas to attack the other. WHAT A SHAME!
WE are the leaders. Are'nt we more honorable than that? We have imploded from within. We have become our own worst enemy. The damage done by the media and the public pales in comparison to the damage that we're doing to ourselves.
Please, please, give it a rest. We all know that this blog is viewed by an ever-increasing # of people, from every corner of the world. Why are we showcasing ourselves at our worst? Why not use it to do some good. Comments that amount to nothing more than personal attacks on others are cowardly and serve no purpose other than to further divide us.
I am a "PROUD" member of the Chicago Police Department. I am proud of the service that I and my fellow members have given this Dept. and this city.
Things are far from perfect. At some points they can be unacceptable. It's during these times that we have to "dig in" and persevere by remembering why we were "so" determined to be a part of the CPD. And remembering the gratifying "high" that you got over and over again when you helped someone else. To that end, I challenge any and all readers of this blog (CPD in particular) to stop tearing each other up with the personal attacks. one last thing.

I retired a few years back and I have to agree, it is very sad how the Superintendent and the Mayor make the Exempts respond to anything politically related. How are we then not being biased and serving all of the people? The Aldermen have way to much power over the police but are never held accountable for their part in their own communties. They have millions of dollars to fix things as lights and pot holes so the police especially can help patrol the alleys and other potential crime locations. With no lights and holes the size of craters, I suggest you all stay out of the alleys. Where are the jobs Aldercreatures? I've read and heard over and over again how the Superintendent attends and makes all Commanders attend these fucked up Town Hall Meetings sponsored by the Aldermen. They are just deflecting their responsibiity. That is where THEY should be held accountable to their constituants, but to deflect they have the whole Exempt staff of CPD, CFD, CPS and whoever the fuck is stupid enough to come. How are they stimulating the econonmy in their own communities. What are they here for? Not to dictate waht the police should do. If so, they should have been the fucking police!
By the way, can Deputy Chief Alexander not attend the next one? We have the Commanders there. No one wants to hear 45 minutes of your bullshit or you bragging about how much YOU have done in Area 2. Your record as a Commander speaks for itself and you only have good numbers in Area 2 because all of the Commanders and Officers work hard. It doesn't have a fucking thing to do with you! If I heard you say "MY" Commanders, "MY" staff and "MY" analyst one more time I was going to fucking puke! Where did you get this asshole from Superintendent and Mayor? Did he forget what District he came from? Better yet, because he came from 004,and supposedly is the expert on 004, why do we have any crime there? I live on the border and I like my house, I like being retired. Should I play police when I get home Deputy Alexander? I know our area's problems are historical in nature, but after hearing that bullshit I realized you are our savior so I want to see the results you keep bragging about!

It was an escort detail, yes. But there was onlt 1 marked car assigned to do the escort. No exempts involved. Get you fact straight before you open you mouth. 1 PO assigned to the lead car. No other CPD were involved in the escort. The Commander had no right to be there. Maybe you should check your facts before you open your pie hole, you Asshat.
Aviation didn't let Wedster onto trhe airfield. She got onto the field by deception and not through the gates. Thast' why she was not escorted. There was no escort because she skirted the process. RW got onto the field walking on using her position and credentials.
Maurer is a joke. He doesn't have the balls to push to arm Aviation police. He is another Daley puppet. He has shown he is only a clueless political hack. He doesn't have a clue or care what goes on at Midway. I'm surprised because he was decent with CPD, but is wrothless as the head of security at the airports. Yes that's right. I don't know why people are defending this. Its like defending someone who breaks the law. CPD never assigned this detail and a security firm cannot assign any CPD officer to a private detail unless they are working off duty and are not a commander. Its very simple. That commander was w-r-o-n-g. Any attempts to make it right are only making it worse for every cop who has to live with this fucking double standards.
I serious doubt that Ellen schmitz or however you spell her name would want this other commanders job. Who would trade the airprt for the freakin academy. This must be one of RW folks trying to deflect blame.
I also seriously doubt ES did anything to jam this woman up. The only person to blame for the fuck up is the commander at the academy. She took it upon herself to disregard a myriad of things just so she could earn cash. Regardless of any speculation. I'm puting the blame where it belongs.
