Car Troubles
- It's a perk that is costing Illinois taxpayers billions of dollars: government-owned cars. You see them all over the road. They either have an 'M' or 'U' on their license plates.
Some lucky government employees even take their cars home or use them for vacation, but as CBS 2 [...] and the Better Government Association uncovered, taxpayers may be the ones being taken for a ride.
If Channel 2 hadn't been lying down on the job for the past 20 years along with the rest of the media, this situation wouldn't have gotten as out-of-control as it's been. Now they can shoot fish in a barrel and claim it's good journalism. Idiots.

You gotta admit that guy Wednesday night literally went too far. He drove the M-plate car all the way to Florida and back. Then, he let the reporter make a fool of him. He should have told the reporter, "If you have any questions, put them in writing and mail them to my office." You can't let these reporters gain the upper hand. You gotta turn the tables on them.
Soooo, if I’m a superintendent of a large police department, does this mean I can’t take my big black company SUV out to Evergreen Park, with one of my buddies in his big black company SUV, just for dinner?
Best quote from my wife: “My God hon, his head is HUGE, like freakishly huge, that’s not normal!”
Just think, there aint much in it either!
All the cars channel 2 all the cars! now your looking into it? Why does daley have a "fleet" of city paid cars? Why does eddie burke have a car and many drivers all CPD officers who are piad $20,000+ over the regular patrolmans rate? Why does the city treasurer have cpd drivers and a city car? why as a mtter of fact does the city clerk have a police spec crown vic but no drivers? Why Why? SIMPLE ANSWER CLOUT AND THE TAXPAYERS CAN STFU!
RAY RAY HAMILTON HAS ONE BUT HE PARKS IN HIS GARAGE ON ON THE SIDE STREET BY HIS HOUSE IN 17th Dist
About darn time.
I was in Michigan a few weeks ago on vacation with my spouce when we got passed by a M plate loaded with golf equipment and coolers.
About 2 hours north of Michigan City...M152518 (ford)...on Labor Day Weekend.
I've seen M plates in private driveways around Lake Geneva for years.
WHATS DA PROBLEM. YOU WANT A BROKEN LEG. MOVE ALONG.
Several years ago I saw an M plate in Door County Wisconsin. I recognized a Commander of police. .
A few years ago when I was a Detective my Area Commander had me take her Department issued vehicle and pick up groceries, drop her off at the gym and pick her up, I felt like I was the valet service but than again she was the boss, I had the respect of other guys in the Unit because I did my job over many years and suppose this was my reward. What memories, what a job, and the perks of being a boss. Many bosses just dont have a clew what being a policeman is all about. But than most bosses dont have the respect of there men, is that true J-Fed ?
shortshanks will yell at channel 7 and they ll all run back into their holes. its good to be king!
These guys need bumper stickers that say: "This vehicle proudly provided to a City of Chicago employee to improve city services, hows my driving?" Better yet BIG CITY SEALS on the sides of all cars!!!!
Aldercrook Carrie Austin's son,who has only 9 years as a laborer with Water Management has a City Car.The lazy kid was suppose to go in for disciplinary action and Deputy Commish Tommie Talley gives him a raise and a car instead to keep his mommy happy.
Other cities have similar looking M-plates just so you know.
Cry babies! Mind yo bidness!
BRING THE BROKEN LEGS WE ARE NOT AFRAID ANYMORE SO SHUVE IT!! IT IS TIME TO TAKE BACK OUR DEPT AND CITY!! SEND PICS TO CHANNEL 2 or to the Blog HERE. Fuk U MR.Broken Legs U are AFRAID
Did Dana Starks give back his Police squad car yet? I believe he still has it and has been off the job for a year and a half.
Oh, I forgot Animal Farm: 'some animals are more special than others'. Wasn't that required reading in school?
I love my M plate take home car
M plates also spotted in Sister Lakes.
If the city really wanted to find out where the take home cars were going out of state they would. They all have GPS!!! Thats right GPS is only for the bosses to look at where we are and does not pertain to them.
Some lucky government employees even take their cars home or use them for vacation,
It aint LUCK, idiot!
Short of the K9 guys, why does any government employee "need" a take home car?
Its up to them to get themselves to work.
'reporter'?? dave savini stated he "ran the plate" and found out who it belonged to.
I am curious how he 'ran' that plate.
Maybe the BGA should investigate that.
anyone have the info on the 2 f po's that fought at the medical section on Thursday and a 10-1 was called?
My favorite is watching all of the union "business agents" driving their union owned cars north to Wisconsin or Michigan every weekend. You name it, teamsters, plumbers, etc. while their own men sit home without work and on unemployment. Bunch of BS.
NEWS FLASH OFF TOPIC
SCC,
In the times we are in this just tops the cake. This week I was at Medical Services Section. Everything was all messed up per usual. My bills have not been paid in over a year. Took 6 times for the MSS to actually submit the bills. Sources say there were multiple fist fights invollving both the sworn and civilian staff members which resulted in the stripping of several officers. Sources also say there was actually a 10-1 called it was so out of control. Meanwhile us in the office in dire needs of refferals were left on the backburner. Just business as usual in the CPD
Another concerned Coppur
Hey channel 2, lets not forget the take home cars without the M or U plates.....
Say what you want about the take home cars but please do not put the plate numbers in the comments section.
Our problem is plain and simple we CANNOT stick together, it is pathetic.
On the saem thought why do SVU Lt.'s get takre home cars? In my opinion nly first responding personnel in units should be allowed to take home a car. NO EXCEPTIONS. There is absolutely no reason that anybody from R and D needs a take home car.
Hey if you want to save money start by taking away the cars from political hacks who do nothing.
As much as I believe that there are way too many people that have take home cars, I'd rather see every single one of them get to keep it and be able to take a trip anywhere in the country if they so desire just to piss off this little weasel of an alleged man, dave savini. That guy must have been bullied as a kid cause he sure is a pussy now.
I remember a certain COMMANDER 017 that got caught at the golf course with the take home car on company time! We still remember you UTZ aka " UTZ THE PUTZ " former COMMANDANTE 017.
We can only hope mealer is as stupid.
Several years ago I saw an M plate in Door County Wisconsin. I recognized a Commander of police. .
9/25/2009 07:46:00 AM
I call BULLSHIT! Commanders get regular passenger car plates, not M-plates. Leave your mommy's computer alone and go back in her basement.
Ald Austin's son, Lemuel Austin not only has a take home car but TWO CITY JOBS...given a big jobe with water, over $60,000 and a job as Ald. Assist earning over $30,000He has no expierence but took over at warehouse operations as a "boss" but has no f@#$ing clue what is going on but is the Alderman's son so he gets whatever he wants....Kass where are you? two city jobs, is that legal? just asking?
Mine has normal plates. Suck it, all you crybabies!!! Haven't paid for gas in over 9 years! Even if they take it way, I still beat you buncha F-ing whiners for thousands each year. Cry over that!
All this talk about a fight at headquarters in the medical section: what the hell are the "security guards"/useless sworn there for? They had to call 002 for back up? REALLY?!?! The security detail alone should have handled it, but let's not forget the other thousand or so "alleged" police officers in that building EVERY DAY!
This is not my father's police Department.
I remember one fat captain on days in 014(a member of the 3 amigos who went to 25) made a po take a wagon to get a fuckin bed for his son and then deliver it to his condo. Beautiful aint it? Well at least they never made him a commander.
Several years ago I saw an M plate in Door County Wisconsin. I recognized a Commander of police. .

.........that was a former cmdr of personnel who had a second home up there and is now retired. Can't remember his name, but had a snazzy rug on his head.
M plates should not be valid outside the state unless on official business. Let the Wis Troopers write every one of them.
Let's not forget another cmdr (RIP) in personnel who had a det pick his wife up at her downtown office everyday and drive her home. Now that's what I call "packin" valet service!

No one from R and D has a take home car, even the civilian director. Her car was taken away a year ago. Get it through your thick skull already.
thats nothing tinley park chief has an suv he told them he needed and uses it to tow his boat to michigan
The city should offer a $50 bounty on ALL license plates turned in that are driving out-of-state.
This could be a new segment on the typically boring local news (ABC, CBS, NBC - take your choice)
Personal use abuse? No - theft of services (and gas)! Lose your job and see what you find in this economy.
It could be like the LOTTO segment on WGN. Get some film of some idiot driving around the Dells or Lake Geneva or whatever.

Not a cheap shot BRAVO. I have a take home car, I get called out on quite often but when I am not using it for work it stays parked.
I remenber when I worked for the county a guy used his take home to tow his boat up to Wisconsin. Was a good plan until he got in a wreck, but they did not fire him. Clout rules....
We don't have a no snitch policy, thats for Gang Bangers..
My neighbor finally was issued a take home car and the whole block now knows he's the police. Sort of a curse, I think. He'll always be singled out, or the victim of a druckards late night prank, targeted by passerby's, etc..
It's a two-edged sword having those M plates out front of he house. I like that it appears a cop is always around, even when he's away for the weekend, as the car sits on the street.

Inspector General????? Wake up!!!
Hey you guys...quit hating on us folks that have more important jobs than you. Its like getting a raise without actually getting it on your check. Get into a unit or get promoted and quit your crying.
For years my tact car had soft plates. One day I had to get work done at MM in Area One.
Some douche bag civilian saw the plates and had them changed to M plates.
Nothing for the workers only the chosen ones.

It could be true. Several years ago they had M plates. It wasn't until recently that they started to give them regular plates on thier take home cars. I to hav seen them when I am at my place in Mich or visiting friends in Wisc. But you need to then look th see if they have a City of Chicago vehicle sticker to see if they belong in Chicago. I use to see them heading towards South Bend on Saturday mornings years ago also.
another not a cop

Um, they don't have to. It's public record that anybody can purchase from the secretary of state. Stop trying to act so smart.
The departments order about the take home cars has really worked. All civilian directors still have their cars. Secretaries and admin Po's still have cars at Homan. Commanders and C/O's of units that will never be called out still ahve their cars. So who really lost theirs? Sounds like no one.

I would have crashed that wagon and documented in my to/from that I was where I was and doing what I was doing on a direct order from my tool of a captain

So why do SOS terminals have different levels of security for AUTHORIZED users if that information is available to the public? Hmmmm.
And didn't SOS employees get fired a few years back for doing plate searches on lists of luxury vehicles requested by the outfit in order to find out where the cars were registered so the information could be used to rob the houses?
