Serious prayeers for this officer and his family, whomever they are, who are going through some sort of hell right now.

A good cop is...SCC. SLC. SCS. Rue. And many others who don't have time to post.

Keep it together, guys and gals. You are our help, our safety, and our future here in Chicago.

Excellent job by responding officers and Zone 6 radio. Two POS off the street and the officer should be okay. Be safe out there folks, the City is a war zone and the enemy doesn't care if you're on or off duty.

Officer hang in there and we wish you a full recovery physically and mentally. Awesome job by everyone involved in 008. Well, this is what happens when you see ZERO police presence over here in Scottsdale lately. We understand that 008 coppers are very very busy, but why then do they have these bullshit missions where no cars are to receive jobs for like 3 hours? Why does the neighborhood garfield ridge cry we need beat integrity and the district commander appoints a car or two to stay there and patrol ALL NIGHT? I cannot tell you the last time I saw a squad car in this neighborhood. We are all outraged.

My next door neighbor, a TPD officer, carries 24/7. He also carries a cell phone, and zip-tie cuffs. That way, if he has to use them, it's not like losing a set of metal cuffs when someone takes the bad guy off his hands.

Yes they can. It's the IDOC officers that can't carry. Cook County Deputies and C.O's can carry 24/7.

I too live in the area. It is a quiet area and mainly ppl stick to themselves. However, recently we have seen a group of dirt bags lurking around the area. We need to put a STOP to this crap ASAP!! I immediatley went to Christ hospital yesterday to make sure he was ok. This is sad that we cannot even safely walk to our cars in our own neighborhood without fear. It is also sad that we deal with this crap everyday OUTSIDE of work and now we need to deal with it at home...Something needs to be done!!!

Recover soon my fellow law enforcement officer!!!

Garfield Ridge does deserve a police presence. So does Scottsdale. Start petitioning your neighbors, get some signatures and send it to your alderman, your mayor and your superintendent. Maybe, just maybe you will get some service there. The district is short, very short. Very rarely are there ANY response cars on 3rd watch. Many times, midnights personnel are working 10-99. We need double the manpower in 008 because of size alone. I feel for you my friend, I am sure your neighborhood deserves more than what they get.

We need more Police in the 008th dist. I live a few blocks away from this incident, and been here almost 10 years. This neighborhood is changing. I see more gang activity espically 2-6'rs Around Rainey Park.
J-Fed open up 008th dist. for transfers, I'll protect the homefront. KEEP THE SCUM OUT OF ST. BEDE/SCOTTSDALE.

ive lived in scottsdale my whole life and have been the police for 12 years. this neighborhood has gone to crap. I have met and talk to the beat guys alot that work out here. for the most part, i the beat car on days is good but gets over run by bogan and all the crap on 79th street. the guy and girl on third watch are really good. they are very knowledgeable and you can tell they take an active part in the neighborhood. although slow, they do good work and really seem to follow up on complaints. the guys on midnights... always playing policework along western and kedzie.. PLEASE come to our neighborhood, i know you cant control where the radio sends you too but just try to stay over here. and from what ive heard, 859 who use to be the 30 sector rapid is now in the 10 sector... which is ok they deserve police service but who ever the guys were on that car they kicked ass in scottsdale. everytime i would be out in the neighborhood or at work and e.d. 008 they would be getting quality stuff or atleast on stops out in this area... from what ive heard they were a three man car and have moved on to tac... which is good for them, bad for us. the gangsters actually use to fear those guys. i never met them but always saw them out here. cmdr kup... BRING THOSE 3 BACK!!!!!! oh well, i dont care, im not sellin.. at least till I retire.. 10 years left.

It's the same all over the city. The taxpayers footing all the bills and getting no service at all.

The "have-nots" paying no taxes..BUT than getting rebate checks from the IRS in an election year. Their neighborhoods also get all the police protection/attention.

WE would love to have all that police attention in OUR neighborhoods..they have it and call it "police oppression."

Pull the police from neighborhoods where we aren't welcomed and let the reverends and Obama brown shirts patrol them!

Sick and tired of taxation without representation!

many years ago i was working 99 and on a stop. it got a little hairy when the offender realized he was going to jail. i had just called for another car and was putting on the cuffs when the offender tried to pull away from me and the fight was on. 2 young cops jumped out of a civilian car and helped me take the offender into custody. they were both young, wearing blue uniform pants, shiny shoes and white t-shirts with jerseys to cover. obviously on their way to/from work. i said thanks guys and asked where you from, what district? they said we work at the jail. there are a lot of good guys at the county.

brothers in blue! get well soon officer

NO!!!! WHAT WE NEED IS FOR THESE RANGERS TO START DOING A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN JUST CODING JOBS OUT ALL NIGHT.

SHIT HEAD KNOWS THAT MOST OF THE THE TIME IT'S EASY IN 008!

THATS WHY THEY'RE MOVING IN QUICKLY!!!!!

SOON ALL CITY WORKERS WILL BE LIVING NORTH.

Good luck and quick recovery to the CCSD officer. Alot of good guys work there both deputies and Corrections. I have gotn assists from deputies countless number of times on the street when i was on a traffic stops or chasing an offender. If anyone is in Criminal Courts the day when that POS has court we should stop in for support. We are all blue!!!!

This is only going to get worse!

With the 55 and Out "benefit" Shortshanks is trying to cut manpower to the bone. Fewer cops will be on the street, get burglarized get a phone report, get robbed too bad.

There will be less crime on paper but more blood on the street.

It occurred to me that the media picks up a lot of the crime stories right here. Some of us have questioned that, but maybe we should turn that to our advantage. I think New Affairs is only feeding them so much and there are few real reporters on the street. So the real scope of the problem gets ignored and Shortshanks gets away with it.

SCC is the last free press in the city and maybe anywhere.

So here is what I suggest, start reporting crime right here. Without giving out names and sensitive information that could be traced to anyone, start reporting the who, what, when, where, how and why of crime we come know about. Inform the public through the news media and let them know about the otherwise ignored street crime, the murder or armed robbery that would escape their notice. AND let them know that because of less manpower or stupid decisions of Daley, Weis and Dugan things are getting worse.

If the Trib, Times and TV picks it up it might help bring about the downfall of the Daley Crime Family, and make Obama a one-term president.

Stay Safe, and use what you learned in Journalism 101.

Where was that bucktooth fool who works 3rd watch in the 30 sector. He likes to stop and harrass policemens kids, probably cause they are easy and won't hurt you or talk back. If he saw two thug boys he would never conduct a street interview and recover a gun. He ought to work "Garcia Ridge" where he lives. Maybe, he could do better. Scottsdale is getting rough, jackass.
