Logan Square Shooting

  • Chicago police shot a man tonight in the city's Logan Square neighborhood.

Details of the incident in the 2400 block of North Harding Avenue remained sketchy, but unconfirmed early reports stating the shooting, which occurred at 7:15 p.m., might have resulted from a hostage-barricade situation were false, said Ilana Rosenzweig of the Independent Police Review Authority.

A man about 30 years old was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to fire officials. Rozenzweig said the injured person was not a police officer.

Best wishes to the Officer(s) involved.

If you think this shooting was a big deal, just wait until a week from now. Hello out there, fellow gang and tac Warriors. I got a secret that I shouldn't be telling, but since I know cops are good at keeping their/there mouths shut, I'll post what's going on. Last night I had a double secret probation meeting with none other then the best, most knowledgable, and intelligent Supernintendo boss we've ever had. Yep, you guessed it, I had a powwow with J-Fed. He's a really a cool dude. Well, like someone once posted he kinda resembles the wolfman during mid-tranformation, but that's not his fault. Since Dave and Busters was crowded he got to the point and filled me in on the dangerous mission I was being assigned. He even granted me special C.I.A./F.B.I. powers with the wave of his hand. Towards the end, I smelled something dreadful. J-FED excused himself, laughing, he said he had to leave because he "sharted." Before he walked out the door, he turned to me, and I'll never forget his cryptic words, "Make them all pay, Ultimate Tac Warrior. For once, I want the yolk to be on them, not me."

With the powers he granted me I visited several Federal penitentiaries for men to recruit, along with searching the deepest, darkest bowels of call-back. The men I selected were deemed expendable by the City of Chicago. There/their reward if they survived the mission was to be activated back to full duty status with pay. I christened them "The Dirty Dozen Donuts." Below is the list of hardcases in no particular order.

1. Hanhardt- old-school, good at bypassing alarms
2. J. Callahan- a two-fisted brawler that would fight the sky if he didn't like the color shade of blue it was
3. C. Flagg- legendary tac officer, good at making deals
4. Medzenowskii- The Dark Lord himself, nuff' said!
5. Burge- The only good guy of the group, framed for crimes he didn't commit, Electronics Wizard
6. Mustache Hurman- An ace with a baton, lady's man
7. Abbonte- toastmaster, supplier of food and liquor
8. Jerome F.- my idol, a bad boy with charm, union painter
9. Mysterious masked Italian copper- Tow Truck demolition expert
10. Herrara- shapeshifter, weasel
11. Unknown Insane Fish member- getaway driver, wheelman
12. Seiser- The only man that could whip this group of miscreants into a fine-tuned, well oiled, fighting machine!

Our mission? To invade Rio and cause so much blood and carnage that Chicago will be a shoe-in for winning the upcoming Olympic bid. The city even graciously gave us all the supply's that were necessary.
Flame throwers, machetes, Vaseline, silly puddy, twelve 10-gallon drums of hair gel, a crate filled with extra tight- fitting DICKIE jeans, suntan lotion, C.P.D. go-carts, and a case of Bushmills.
Wish us luck, my fellow gang and tac warriors. This might be our last mission, but in the words of my second in command, Hanhardt, "Diamonds are forever.....and so is the Chicago Police Department! Hoooooo-raaaa!!!"

(The following was posted by John Northen ["NorthSide"] on behalf of Bill Cozzi who has neither Internet nor incoming phone call access.)

Bill wants me to convey his best wishes to CPD members and all his supporters as well as his heartfelt gratitude to approximately 100 persons who have mailed him letters and/or paperback books. He can't thank you enough.

Bill has a new cellmate, a Texas lawyer serving time for unspecified crime(s).

In our 15-minute conversations of 2-3 times per week, Bill tells me that while the prison will NOT accept newspapers and hard cover books unless sent DIRECTLY from the publisher or a bookstore, please limit your mailings to letters and perhaps 2-3 paperback books. He favors both fiction and non-fiction books on police weork, mysteries, etc. While food, toiletries and clothing will NOT be accepted, he can receive magazines. His favorites: Money, Popular Science, U.S. News & World Report, Soldier of Fortune, perhaps Time and Newsweek.

I've also contacted Mark Donahue with Bill's "change of address" for the monthly FOP newsletter:

William COZZI, #40222-424
FCI Oakdale
P.O. Box 5000
Oakdale, LA 71463

I am in contact with members of Bill's family concerning possible newspaper (USA Today and the WSJ) and magazine subscriptions. A family member mailed Bill a Sunday Tribune. The Bureau of Prisons (BOP) [www.BOP.gov] would not accept it.

Please check the BOP site for details, some of which I can't answer. Bill has replied to all mail received. Keep them coming. In your letters, he is particularly interested in both CPD and local news.

Like us, Bill can't comprehend why he is incarcerated 1,000 miles away from home, friends and family rather than Oxford, Wisconsin.

On Bill's behalf, I will keep you posted on any new developments.

OT:

Along with what looked to be about 100 officers and concerned citizens (there was not an empty place to sit or lean), I attended preliminary hearing for offenders who tagged the Police Memorial this am. Derrick Blakley was there for Ch.2 Did not notice any other media.

Two showed up without an attorney, so one was provided, which delayed the proceedings. Bottomline: they waived the prelim and are set to appear on October 14.

The judge would not raise the bond as no testimony was presented. However, she did confine them to their homes except to go to school -- for the two who do. The guy apparently sits on his ass as he doesn't go to school or have a job, so he's home 24/7.

Any chance these homes will see increased interested by CPD? No way will these three future rocket scientists abide by the conditions for three weeks.

SCC, if you could post the info on the next court date a few days beforehand, that would be great.

Never Forget...

Hey Bill, just a hint if you are trying to help, then you may want to ammend the police description of the wanted offender to include the fact that he is now 17 years older now. That might help. Oh yeah and since the police aren't looking for a Black man, its ok to use his race.

Saw a female PO a short distance from there on Kedzie managing a school crossing...again, no vest. Do you guys/ladies who work in 017 think you can't get popped while posted at those school crossings? I saw a number of bangers hanging out in all the areas where I saw the coppers directing the kiddies...do Sgts. look at their people any more before they hit the bricks?

To all the workers still on the street, please be safe, and remember to tread lightly....seriously, or I may be training you to answer the phone down here sooner than you think!

OT (Sorry)
Today in Br. 42-2 the CPD was (even better) well represented in the case of the 3 'vandals'(I'm being polite here) that spray painted our memorial.
All 3 waived the Preliminary Hearing (again appearing w/o a bottomfeeder) so the P.D. was appointed.
In short, the judge quizzed the (two) 17 year olds determining they were (allegedly) attending school. The unemployed (I'm looking for a job) 19 year old was also questioned. The ASA requested bail bond conditions be reviewed by the court andthe judge ruled the two attending class can only be outside their residence while in class and 1 hr on each end.
The other bust out must stay at home... "24 hrs. a day" all until the next court case on 14 Oct.
All were given both written and verbal notice of these conditions.
If anyone in 009 or in outlying districts sees them in violation, (Make sure it's a good case like not sitting on the front porch etc) take the appropriate action to document this violation of Bail Bond.
Thanks to all that showed in person or spirit.
Also OT, thanks John (Northside) for keeping up with our brother Cozzi as well.

America armed, but guns not necessarily loaded

NEW ORLEANS – Bullet-makers are working around the clock, seven days a week, and still can't keep up with the nation's demand for ammunition.

Shooting ranges, gun dealers and bullet manufacturers say they have never seen such shortages. Bullets, especially for handguns, have been scarce for months because gun enthusiasts are stocking up on ammo, in part because they fear President Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass antigun legislation — even though nothing specific has been proposed and the president last month signed a law allowing people to carry loaded guns in national parks.

I agree wholeheartedly. If it was someone from a unit would it make it better? Good god get a hold of your egos losers. I wear a chicago police star just like you soooper special units like MSF, TRU, etc. I'm embarrassed for you.

You got it all wrong. I am in patrol and am to damn busy handling bullshit calls all day. Guys in specialized units have the time and resources to handle real investigations. This is not an ego thing, it is basically the truth like it or not. Not every officer is allowed to do important cases like LADP just did. All I said is that this department takes a priority in bullshit stats rather than worthy cases to destroy or hurt gangs. We did it in the past. We are unfortunately not allowed now or in the near future. Again this is not who is better than who. Stop having an inferior complex girly man. Am embarrassed for you also. wake up
