Fake Signatures?

Toddler barely got enough signatures as it was. Now Fox32 finds out a bunch are fake?
  • There's a long history of "ghosts" populating political payrolls in Illinois. But a Fox Chicago News investigation has found another political phantom at work-- writing phony signatures and addresses on nominating petitions for Cook County Board President Todd Stroger.

The questionable signatures are among nearly 200 collected by Cedric Giles, a friend of Stroger's who holds a $111,000 management job at the Cook County Bureau of Health.

Fox Chicago News found vacant lots at some of the addresses of listed on Giles' petitions. In other cases there was no one matching the signature living at the given address. At 3740 West Douglas there was no Linda Henderson. Instead, there is a Revolutionary War statue in the middle of a boulevard.
Sounds like an ACORN-type scandal. Maybe Toddler can be knocked off the ballot before he even gets to the primary?

Yet another example of the media doing the job they should have been doing 20 years ago.

Sorry, but I have it on good authority that the Revolutionary War statue in the middle of the boulevard actually is known by the local residents as Linda Henderson.

After the post the other day about all sorts of "outsiders" heading into Cook County for FREE health care, they have got to stop the bleeding of their budget. Send the outsiders back to where they belong and spend the money for OUR citizens!

Fire the Toddler before the give EVERYTHING away!

Tonight I saw a story on channel 2 news about how Cook County jobs have automatic step raises built into their salaries that are paid regardless of the state of the economy. They had an example of one salary that had gone up 71% over several years.

Stroger didn't want to talk about THAT, and he walked away from the reporter while blaming the County Board for that waste of money.

If that wasn't bad enough, the reporter then asked some storefront 'Rev' what he thought about the large increases in salaries. After a thoughtful moment, the 'Reverend' says Well, they got to be paid for doin' their job, but lots of folks out here don't got no jobs, so maybe they could take that extra money and distribute it around the community. WTF?

How incredible is it that the very first thought that these people come up with, is we deserve that money for FREE. Just hand it over! Or do I need to go get my gun?

UN-FRICKEN-BELIEVABLE!

I'm sure Stroger's buddy is qualified for his position.
More patronage outrage and nonsence, throw his butt off the ballot.
Disqualify the other little man!

When Harold Washington was elected the G found that there were more than 100,000 fictitious votes that came out of black areas from addresses which were vacant lots, fireplugs, railroad tracks, burned out buildings, viaducts, mailboxes, etc. and absolutely nothing was done about it. Don't expect any miracles now either.

Citizens put those fake signatures on petitions to be smart alecks or as a protest against the Candidate.

Almost everyone knows each candidate needs a certain number of signatures so they will sign a fake name, print instead of writing in cursive, give fake addresses and more to cause trouble for that candidate and that signature will be voided for those reasons.

Candidates challenge the signatures of their opponents every election, almost, hoping they will not have the correct amount of signatures and get them knocked off the ballot leaving the challenger the chance to run un-opposed.

One more comment on the collection of signatures.

The person collecting the signatures is supposed to ask the signer to write in cursive, or sign to match the signature on their votet registration card and to look for obviously fake addresses.such as 1111 W Homan Ave.

Homan Avenue runs north and south so that signature would get scratched before it could cause a problem.

This is not a scandal.

I volunteered at a candidate and participated fron the collection of signatures to the challenges done at the Board of Election through the election.

And an update: they collect signatures in groups or group several candidates together in the suburbs, I think , though not totally sure of the method they to stop these challenges.

It is a good bet as soon as Chicago's crooks, I mean candidates find about this new collection method, they will all use that method instead of the one presently in use.

The Knights of the Democratic Round Table have again been assembled!

What's that, about $550 per bogus signature, factoring his salary?

Get arrested, go to court, and a nice Dem judge gives him an NG, or perhaps probation?

Wouldn't it be funny if they held an election and the CC Board President couldn't run! Like THATS going to happen. They'd be rioting in the streets if they thought the FREE gravy train would be running out!

Mark my words. IF there were some kind of challenge to Urkel's nominating petitions and it were successful, he would still be on the ballot! Why? Because this is Crook County. Daley would be on the news saying "The PEOPLE want him on the ballot. You can't take him off the ballot over some 'clerical error'. You know that!"

(Editor's Note: Whenever 42 short says "You know that" to the reporters and cameras, HE IS LYING and trying to make everyone believe his astounding lie. The rest of the time, he is just lying on a NON-astounding level).

HELLO SHORTSHANKS! : Sad, but it looks like we are beginning to get some incite into why school board president Michael Scott may have committed suicide. Unless, maybe he, like Chris Kelly, was being pressured by the feds, to flip and testify on someone!

Consequences? Doubtful anything will become of this.

Daley pisses on the Constitution every day and nothing happens to him, either.

Isn't there some penalty for knowingly collecting fraudulent signatures? It would be funny to see him lose his $111,000 per year hack job.

The public loves reality TV. The networks love reality TV because it is cheaper to make than scripted series that need writers and releases along with a mile of paperwork for the production.
An unbiased, aggressive reporter could find tons of leads in the city, county and state government. They would have to find some network to back them up and that would be the stopping point because all the networks are biased.

Cedric Giles is Percy Giles' son and an ex-aldermanic candidate who ran in February 2001 during the special election. He is also the cousin to former State Representative Calvin Giles.
