234?

  • On the first day of the city's overnight parking ban there were more cars towed from the 107 miles of streets where the ban is in effect than were towed on the same day last year or the year before.

From 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. Tuesday, city crews towed 234 cars parked on streets where parking is not allowed in the overnight hours from Dec. 1 through April 1, according to a release from the Department of Streets and Sanitation.

Those streets are considered “critical arterial streets” and, snow or no snow, parking is not allowed overnight.
We're willing to bet many of these cars were avoiding parking boxes or new neighborhood meters and got hammered with $210 worth of pain. We also imagine there are at least 234 more foot soldiers in the fight versus Shortshanks. If only they had read the blog, we posted warnings.

Just wait until the first major snowstorm this year; all Hell is going to break lose in Chicago.

How are these revenue whores going to verify who paid for parking? This isn't sunny Arizona.

Hey VICTIMS of criminal towing.
No snow is predicted!
Tell a 100 friends to tell a 100 friends and so on how the city took your car, damaged it in the tow and now wants you to pay to get it back!
The city just made $50,000.00 on the backs of the working man!
KEEP VOTING DEMOCRATIC in Chicago and get raped by the City!
I bet they even hooked a couple of extras that weren't parked on snow tow areas!
Oh, btw remember how shitty the plowing was last year?
So they hook you for a snow tow area and don't even tow. Mayor Daley is a genious, they get tow money then spend no money on a city service!

234 more people screwed by this city. there was no snow on the ground, no snow forecast to fall, not a chance of any snowstorm within hundreds of miles. But 234 people had their cars towed with some of them being damaged.

So what's a tow worth now? $210

234 tows = $49,140.00

234 more people with a healthy dislike going for daley: priceless

To those 234: (and the thousands more sure to come this winter)

Remember February 2011, ELECTION!

Remember the sting of that $210 done to you on a CLEAR SNOWLESS NIGHT! Remember the $210 stolen out of your pocket 3 weeks before Christmas. Feb 2011, remember when you vote!

234 AND the threat that they would be even more diligent in enforcing it on the second night of snow tows. We'll see if that turns out to be true.

Between the tows and the pay boxes, as you mentioned, SCC, I'm expecting to see a lot more people knocking down their fences in their yards and finding some spot in their yard or patio to leave their cars. For whatever reason, ($$$), 42 xshort has declared war on the Chicago automobile!

Next up? Police checkpoints at the exits of parking lots of city condo buildings and the lake front high rises to ticket literally thousands of yuppies that continue to register their vehicles at businesses or mom's house in the suburbs to avoid having to purchase the Chicago city sticker and commit a little auto insurance fraud!!!

I love how small the snow tow warning sign is. It's as big as a postage stamp. I worked midnights and I used to be embarrassed to show the citizens the fucking bullshit sign. They would see it and immediately know they were robbed. It is about money ,revenue, and nothing else. Go to the polls and get revenge.

I don't know much abouth Fioretti. One thing I do know, I'd choose just about anyone over his predecessor Madeline "BPP Chairman Fred Fan" Haithcock.

Now the bitch is as dead as Hampton and Clark. When is cop killer advocate Bobby Rush going to join Chairman Fred? Beers are on me.

Oh well, read the signs. Park legally and you won't have problems. Keep your plates and city stickers up to date too. Personally I use a garage. If you can't afford a car, sell it and take the bus.

And speaking of these tows..

Which mayoral crony(ies) got the private-end of this contract? Footage on channel 7 news last night showed a whole fleet of brand new-looking yellow tow trucks hooking vehicles of the unsuspecting taxpayers from various parts of the city, complete with the gratuitous shot of the shirtless dude in his underwear and socks, awakened from his slumber, pleading with the driver to release his car.

I forget the two initials on the door of the trucks (J.S.?, R.J.?), but they were obviously owned by the same company and they all looked to be brand new(er) trucks. This contract stinks to high Heaven - anyone out there in Medialand with a set of balls care to make an inquiry?

Coming soon to your neighborhood.

The OFFICIAL CITY YARD INSPECTORS full benefits and $75,000 per year to start application at city hall NO ALDERMANIC APPROVAL NEEDED!

All those cars parked in the back yards and cement and bricks inplace of green grass is going to cost you home owners a pretty penney. King Shortshanks has quietly let you park and replace your grass with cement and bricks. And now it's time to pony up with all those fines and permits, I see millions $$$$$$$ sitting in those yards.

Watch for Lord High Burke to introduce the ordiance

Let's be creative here. From now until April 1st, if anyone has any shit derelict cars, trucks, motorcycles or trailers to get rid of, guess what?

LEAVE THEM ON AN OVERNIGHT TOW ROUTE!

Any overgrown parking lots full of abandoned cars or trucks? Find a way to push them all out on the snow route! The City will tow them THE NEXT NIGHT! FOR FREE! No paperwork, no tow report, no phone calls, no muss, no fuss, just push the rusting old hulks out onto the snow tow routes!

By springtime there won't be an abandoned car or truck left in the city, courtesy of mayor daley and the tow companies. Don't forget to say Thank You!

Get on with it!

Operation Snow Clunkers!

Are the signs cleary posted? Are they legible and grammatically correct? Is the warning clear enough so that our masses clearly understand what is required of them?

Bring back PATRICK for the holidays and maybe the feds can scoop him up. Haven't heard anything, not a peep, about that sewer cleaning scandal in a long long time!

SCC start a post about the mayor and all his scandals and fuckups. List them every so often so people dont forget when it's election time. Start with the HIRED TRUCK SCANDAL and go from there.

All that time spent not writing tickets is not being wasted. There must be some consequences to the city for bargaining in bad faith and forcing us to go almost three years without a contract.

Repeatedly.

They don't pay interest so they must pay in other ways.
