Daley Solution

  • Mayor Richard Daley reacted coolly Monday to a suggestion the National Guard be called in to help slow the violence on Chicago's streets, suggesting the idea offered up a day earlier by two state representatives was too simplistic.

"You have to look at long-term solutions," Daley said, adding he understood the "frustration" expressed by the legislators.

  • The mayor also sounded his familiar theme of needing more gun control laws and suggested Fritchey and Ford back him in those efforts.

"This is all about guns, and that's why the crusade is on," Daley said. "We hope to get their cooperation in Springfield."

This isn't about guns 'Shanks - this is about a segment of society with little to no impulse control and a willingness to use firearms as a first resort for conflict resolution. Responsible gun owners are involved in a statistically insignificant number of incidents nationwide.

And you're about to be on the losing side of history Dick. Stop wasting taxpayer money - you're already broke, or so you claim.

With all the churches in the communities with all the gun violence, with all the people attending those churches in the communities with the gun violence, with all the reverands preaching in those churches in the communities with all the gun violence, you would think that there would be no gun violence in the communities that have all the churches. Maybe church ain't the answer. Maybe proper parenting is the answer.

Does that mean the summer detail isn't a bandaid?

It would be much wiser for the supt's stooges to simply order 10 percent of all units manpower must return to patrol. Make it an order to use reverse seniority. Make it even steven across the board. No excuses granted to anyone. The youth need to get back out on the street and patrol. Crawl before you walk.

This temporary summer thing is ridiculous and lots of officers are getting fked due to the fix being in. Headquarters is picking and choosing which units to take from and which units to leave alone. Already some units got out of giving up any officers, and some other units now have to give up more to accomodate the prima donna units. Some units aren't following the order that says use reverse seniority and using smoke screen excuses.

So I say fuck it. 10 percent from from each individual unit. Be it a specialized unit or an administrative unit. I mean include the superintendent's office, gang enforcement, asset forfeiture, equipment and supply, etc. No unit gets a pass.

If a unit has 300 officers and 30 sergeants assigned, then 30 officers and 3 sergeants go back to patrol. Reverse seniority only. No passes allowed. Take from the bottom up and go back to patrol until whenever.

It could be done equally and fairly across the board. That would give patrol a sizeable amount of bodies to help these desperate times. If only.

The request for National Guard Troops to Chicago even made Fox News. The Alderman Lashawn was interviewed. He mentioned that "because of the economy" perhaps Daley didn't hire more police and maybe being short policemen had something to do with the shootings.

MAYBE, because Chicago is short policemen. Of course that's part of the reason. Not supporting the police is another reason.

CNN's Headline News had a big splash on the idea of sending the National Guard into Chicago. The had calls in from across the country and most said that Chicago should hire more cops like it's a no brainer.

I tried to tell CNN/HLN the truth that the the National Guard wasn't needed and that the reason more cops were not being hired was the corruption of the Daley Crime Family to pay for left over 'Limpic contracts and other things that make his friends rich. But that never got on the air.

Not sure if that date on the pension changes is accurate but the two tier system is on the way -which means you'll actually have pension when you retire at 55. You don't want to wind up like pilots and find out your retirement has been cut down to 35% of what you expected. The combination of the economy, forgiven loans to the city and the city not putting it's share in until the po's actual retirement has taken it's toll. Expect that the city's escalator will change as well as ours and for the tier including younger officers to have the retirement age raised. The commission appointed by Daley should release it's report in May. Legislation changing the pension code should be started after that. A set date cannnot be predicted atthispoint unless Daley's got a draft ready to go now.

OBAMA HIDES HHS REPORT ON PREMIUMS RISING
The economic report released last week by Health and Human Services, which indicated that President Barack Obama's health care "reform" law would actually increase the cost of health care and impose higher costs on consumers, had been submitted to the office of HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius more than a week before the Congressional votes on the bill, according to career HHS sources, who added that Sebelius's staff refused to review the document before the vote was taken.
"The reason we were given was that they did not want to influence the vote," says an HHS source. "Which is actually the point of having a review like this, you would think."

I'm not CPD, but I am a cop elsewhere who reads Second City Cop from time to time. As I recall several years ago when J-Fed became head Mogo he did away with Special Ops in 2007. IN October 2008 in Chicago Tribune reporter David Heinzmann wrote:
CHICAGO — A year after disbanding the scandal-plagued Special Operations Section, Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis is launching a similar unit to fight gangs, according to a draft copy of an internal police memo obtained by the Tribune.

The new 115-officer unit will be known as the Mobile Strike Force, but its mission will be nearly identical to SOS.

Although police leaders acknowledged that SOS needed to be broken up because of the scandal, they've been hard-pressed to recapture the unit's positive crime-fighting results as gang violence and the murder rate have risen by almost 15 percent.
( The murder rate is way up now.)

Specialized units designed to fight gangs have been a double-edged sword for decades in the Chicago Police Department. Officers assigned to such units develop a high-level of expertise and intelligence in dealing with gangs and tend to make a lot of arrests and take violent drug dealers off the streets. Department leaders said they were key to a 25 percent drop in homicides in 2004.

It appears that J-Fed's new gang unit in 2010 is no where near as effective as the old Special Ops. So much for political correctness Huh J-Fed ? Sometimes you've gotta fight fire with fire. Not take every damned complaint Joeshit the ragman makes...

Well I was surprised to read Roeper in the Sun-Times this morning and somewhat pleased. I am no fan of that liberal rag of a paper but Roeper got it right. He said to our Mayor. We do not need the National Guard we need to hire more Police Officers. There are Officers riding alone in patrol cars a dangerous situation. More cops. No National Guard. Bravo Richard Roeper. Even he gets it.
I hope someone in every Dstrict "the FOP rep I hope" is making copies of the sheets every night showing how many cars are down or 99. According to the caps order we need Beat cars and Rapids to function. Well I don't remember the last time we had a rapid up in my District like many others. So If we don't have the manpower to impliment caps, why do we still have to go to beat meetings and waste time doing all the caps stuff? Let the people in the caps office do that. Caps is dead and we should not be downing cars for any caps activity depriving others of back-up. We do not have the manpower to perform caps. Together we can't until we hire enuff people period.

I am a unit rep and I have heard nothing of this, no changes have been confirmed as of 27Apr10.

A the last FOP meeting I heard from Ken Hauser that we are going to a form of two tiered pension plan, new hires pay more, 12% or 15% and age goes up, likely to 55. But even that is not confirmed, just something Hauser mentioned at the FOP meeting.

PO's who came on in the late 60's and early 70's will remember that the minimum retirement age was 55 then. It came down to 50 in stages, first 53 and then to 50.

If the employee contribution goes up to 12% or 15% the City's contribution should go up also. We need to have the City held accountable for their portion and increase the multiplier, that is needed much more than the two tiered thing.

The problem is that people think people in these "neighborhoods" are FORCED to live like they do.

This is not true.

Daley thought that smashing the CHA would force its residents to take on the mindset of the more stable lower class black residents on the southside.

Didn't work. In fact, the exact opposite happened. The middle to lower class residents took on the CHA mindset.

And once they started living the CHA way, you know what happened?

They liked it.

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE TO DECLARE THIS WEEK AS “GUN CONTROL WEEK” IN THE ILLINOIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

According to information obtained by the ISRA, the gun control movement plans a final, all-out push to destroy your rights and take your guns away from you this week in the Illinois General Assembly. Under orders from Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Speaker of the House Mike Madigan may require that the House of Representatives remain in session until it passes Daley’s 2010 gun control package. Among the bills that Daley has demanded that Madigan get passed are the following:

HB180 – a scheme to run gun shops out of business by forcing shops to get licensed and comply with a slew of burdensome regulations.

HB5480 – would ban private firearm sales and force citizens to process private sales through licensed gun shops. (Yes, those are the same gun shops that will be run out of business by HB180 above)

HB5495 – would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month. Of course, criminals are exempt from this gun-rationing scheme.

HB5751 – would give you 90 days to surrender all your semiautomatic rifles, pistols and shotguns to the state police or face felony prison time.

HB5849 – would make it a felony to use a case other than one designed for a firearm to transport it and give the police greater power to confiscate your guns for “improper transportation” even if you have committed no other crime.

HB6123 – would make it a felony to sell a firearm to someone who looks like a gang member (ie: Black, Hispanic, shaved heads (all races), tattoos (all races), motorcyclists (all races), etc.)

Daley wants these bills passed once and for all before the McDonald v Chicago decision is handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court later this summer. He will spare no expense or dirty trick to get these bills passed THIS WEEK.

Too bad the Posse Comitatus Act doesn't apply to all cases. The National Guard would have to be under Federal Jurisdiction.

The simple solution: HIRE MORE OFFICERS!

The Daley solution: "Problems, I see no stinkin' problems. But lets remove all guns anyhow. Well... except my guards, leave them alone. They have to be able to protect me."

The JFLED solution:
shots fired in background
"Someone has a bad muffler. Lets go give them a ticket."
Jfled heads west

In the background from a non-koolaid-drinking reporter
"But sir, it's coming from the other direction."

Jfled
"I didn't hear anything."

"Don't you understand. It's bout da guns. We need more gun laws. We need stronger gun laws."

No, mare, it is not about the guns. It is about change, like you changing into an ex-mayor.

And the man or women that will yank duh mare's bloated bodyguard detail the moment they are sworn into the office of mayor of Chicago, gets my vote!

Why is it that every house in those neighborhoods with the shootings all have bars on the doors, bars on the windows and a mean ass dog in the yard??? It isn't a bunch of white Irish kids from Beverly out doing these shootings. If the people in those neighborhoods want some peace, try reigning in your kids and stop selling the dope. Fact is that the people in those neighborhoods tacitly approve of the drug sales, since drug sales are the major economic engine of those neighborhoods. Well, if your kid is out all night selling dope to help you pay your rent, then the violence will follow. If they want to know who to blame for the violence, all they have to do is look in the mirror.

not a rumor but confirmed. if you do not have 15 years in the pension by 01oct10 you will be put into a two tier pension system, and you age to collect will go up to 55. ask your unit rep he/she will comfirm this. this job just gets worse and worse.

THIS PERSON IS A LIAR, all case law will strike that down, maybe its about all new hires, all those who are paying are in the pension.

Seems like the Federal Government found a way to put soldiers on the streets , and streamline more power to the Government. Obamas crew can reach into law enforcement like they are doing with everything else... health care, student loans, banking, auto industry etc... Another way to subvert the constitution.

What does gun control have to do with any goofs hanging out and acting crazy. The crime starts with all the fools hanging out. Look at the low crime area no one hanging out. It's a social problem that starts with goverment giving free money.

Just a trained observer.

Now we want to banish some of the tools they use to harm and kill each other.
Mr. Mayor You can take away all the guns, the problem is the society you and your liberal democratic criminals have created.

Now....right now!! Join the NRA!! Tell them that your rights are being violated by the city of Chicago. I know I keep asking this same question over and over again...."How come Daley can have a police escort and body guards 24/7 and I, a citizens of this fine country and this almost fine city of America, can not even protect myself, let alone my family". I thought it was my constitutional right to bear arms, not to kill, but to protect my property/properties, myself and my family. Is Daley saying that this is not my right any longer? The current gun laws apparently doesn't work now.....oh, maybe for the gangbangers, but not for me. Now, thats what I call fairness, Daley. I say whats good for the goose is good for the gander. I will carry! Maybe not here, but in another state. BYE_BYE for now!!

The country is run from Chicago, through Obama's "Chief Of Staff," Rahm Emanuel, the Israeli Army tank mechanic, on one elbow, and David Axelrod -- one of Chicago's oldest and most dangerous radical "organizers" -- on the other elbow as "Senior Advisor."

I really wish the Mayor would retire. His priorities are so ass backwards that nothing he does makes any sense. We have gun laws and it doesn't seem to be working in his favor now, does it? As long as law abiding citizens are not allowed to carry, the violence will keep on coming.

I wonder if Daley would feel the same if he didn't have 24 hour police protection. Bet he would change his mind if his body guards were unarmed!!!!

"You want it to stop all of this then. Stop all the handouts. If they have to work they can't be on the street all night and day.

4/27/2010 06:27:00 AM"

here's the problem(s) with that:

1. the current breed of politicians will never stop buying votes with our hard earned money.

2. the ever increasing number of parasites are now so accustomed to receiving their 'entitlements', that, were said 'entitlements' to be significantly diminished, the resulting actions of same would give an as yet to be experienced meaning to the phrase "all hell's breaking loose'. while some working citizens would welcome the rarely seen clarity, most, having grown to adulthood with their heads deeply implanted up their own asses, would find themselves sorely lacking in the practical skills and mind set of survival. (present company excepted)

3. the merchant class is heavily invested in the current system of redistribution of earned income, especially those merchants whose business's profits depend significantly on the sale of the three fundamental product/service categories: food, shelter and comfort items/services. the working citizen will spend his/her earned income on only so much food per month; the parasite citizen, after being provided with a portion of the working citizen's earned income, then purchases more food, thus adding the the food merchant's bottom line. the same is true for the merchants of shelter goods and services and comfort goods and services. (sort of like being forced to increase the size of your family, thus increasing the amount of your earned income being spent to provide for these 'unwelcome, added burdens'.

4. government provided services, ie., education, infrastructure maintenance, citizen behavior management, etc., also add to the consumption of your earned income, since the public sector version of private sector profit is commonly referred to as the 'public payroll'.

5. least we forget, there's the cost of the graft.

so, for every, say, $100 you earn, you might find that you spend $50 providing for your actual family, the remaining $50 being taken from your pocket and distributed for the above purposes, ie., providing for the variety of parasitical citizens' similar needs and wants. granted, some of that remaining $50 is used for your general benefit, but that 'some' is far less than is necessary.

this is the new, improved version of carl marx's utopia.

Ok, so if it happens:

City owes social security pmnts for the entire time you were on the job TO CATCH UP.
City owes us all the contributions that they should have made to pension plan on our behalf for time on the job.
Cash payouts would be massive!
City has to catch up on 15 years of social security pmnts so we are covered.
City owes us what they should have been contributing on our behalf all along.
This couldn't be for police alone! How about every city union???
BILLIONS OF $$$$
IF TRUE IT WILL BE MIND BOGGLING AND THE TOTAL DEMISE OF LAW AND ORDER IN THIS TOWN!

4/27/2010 07:28:00 AM

Maybe this is why hiring is slowed. Daley waiting for this change to go through then do a hiring blitz.

The real question is.......Is there a viable immediate solution to the situation that we are facing right now aside from bringing in Military intervention? Anyone with half a brain can answer that with a simple no. We all know that we need more Police, however there is not enough time to hire and train new officers in time to combat what is about to come in the next few weeks. Weiss, and Shanks....The time has come to swallow your pride and admit that you have made some very bad decisions, and that you have failed. Bring in the National Guard and let them come in here and bring this city back under control before it's too late. This whole silly little game of shifting PO's around into band-aid task forces is nothing short of a deperate cry of failure. You have both failed this department and the citizens of this great city.
