Summer Detail Problems?
What's this? More chicanery behind the scenes?
- It would be much wiser for the supt's stooges to simply order 10 percent of all units manpower must return to patrol. Make it an order to use reverse seniority. Make it even steven across the board. No excuses granted to anyone. The youth need to get back out on the street and patrol. Crawl before you walk.
This temporary summer thing is ridiculous and lots of officers are getting fked due to the fix being in. Headquarters is picking and choosing which units to take from and which units to leave alone. Already some units got out of giving up any officers, and some other units now have to give up more to accomodate the prima donna units. Some units aren't following the order that says use reverse seniority and using smoke screen excuses.
Are they amending the order again? We did notice that all the supervisors being recruited for this are coming from units, which seems to imply that either Patrol is too short to contribute or Patrol didn't volunteer a single body.

If you are in a unit, stop crying. You made it to a frickin unit! Push a beat car like a lot of us have been stuck doing for a decade or two, then maybe you can cry in your soup. But you are in a unit? Consider yourself lucky.

I know multiple people who put in for the detail so I doubt it was not enough from patrol. It's just a dumb idea. We need the people from UNITs to PATROL not the other way around.

Some units will suffer and some units will receive breaks. The system is not fair despite claims by bosses. Be grateful if you work in a unit that has a real leader that will try to protect its members.

2 sgt , 6 po's assigned to caps office , district amd tactical secretaies , officers performing duties of crossing guard supervisor, time keepers , review officers , foot posts etc
some commanders should be replaced when the backbone of cpd is working 1 man , unsafe working condition and you have at the minimum 10 clerical police officers working about 3 hours a day
assigned to a beat car , wait for a back up on every call
If they don't use reverse senority and they make you go to this unit, remember this, you are one lucky SOB.
Go and be happy. And remember to grieve it within three days of being sent.
Four months later you'll be back in your cozy unit and two years later you'll get a nice fat check to compensate for your lost time and one half pay along with double time on holidays. That will amount to an extra two months pay (which will be significantly more than your three year 2% retro check).
MOST IMPORTANT! If they make you go, do not complain. Simply grieve. After all, you'll be making a dollar a minute the entire time you are there.
Some (not all) "administrative positions" are a necessary evil and some people just dont get the fact that without people working behind the scenes, shit grinds to a halt.
Have you ever been in a district when CLEAR goes down on a hot summer night in the ghetto? No arrests, inventories, etc can be done. Someone needs to fix this crap.
Do you want civilians writing policy that is going to directly affect what you do everyday? F*ck that noise.

We need police officers in news affairs to distinguish the difference between a written warning and a contact card for cripes sake.
I don't even think the bosses have a clue how close most patrolman are to completely losing it. The criminal lack of manpower,supervisor support and dangerous equipment are creating the perfect storm of an officer losing it. The Dept can stick it's fruity E.A.P. up it's A.S.S. because it's useless. We haven't even gotten hot yet and you have the bulk of your manpower already to snap. It's now not "IF" ... it's "WHEN".
Safe City/Safe Summer or whatever they cal it is useless. Nobody does anything there. This detail is also going to be a waste.
They should bring back the old Tara overtime special employment. Those people were sent to districts and were obligated to answer the radio. Anyone who signed up for that knew they were probably going to a busy ditrict and would be required to help out.

Ten (10) warriors in 018 signed up, two (2) were admitted to the inner sanctum/sphincter, six (6) of the unsuccessful bidders have decided to use phone calls for a transfer into Unit 701 (Mass Transit) so they can be included in the next wave.
The unit people have a right to be upset about this BS, because they worked hard to get themselves to these units and do not deserve to be put back into a beat car.

Heard the is a big beef filed in OCD. Looks like Ernie Brown is fucking over all the white coppers and sending them to the detail nobody wants to work and leaving all his "girls" in the unit. Typical way of the department, the working cops who do their job get fucked and the clout heavy get protected.
Not to worry, they did this detail a couple of years back, Dana Starks' operation Closed market, when they sent a bunch of people in units into the districts, nobody did anything and it was just a bunch of unhappy bodies in a blue and white. It was a complete waste of time and just made good coppers pissed off, most just returned back to the patrol districts they were in rather than put up with the exempts' bullshit. If you are one of those going on to the detail I would consider returning to your district, not much they can do to you there and its better than giving these bosses the satisfaction of jerking you around.

PLEASE tell me you are being sarcastic!!! I must say there are a few in specialized units who actually EARNED their spot. But, come on, for the most part, we all know it was who they knew. Either you are in a unit by phone call or you do not work for CPD!

I started ,as some of you have ,when shifts rotated and shit details were handed out by reverse senority. This is no different. You take your turn in the barrel and you deal with it. Too many people ducking that part of the job which is one of the main reasons that we have the department that we have. The Mayor doesnt make this thing happen nor the Supt. It's the working guy regardless of rank that makes this thing happen.
figured it was only a matter of time before the order was amended to make sure clout bitches dont get sent! I love the author of this post... "walk before you crawl...blah blah blah" The original order made sense, sorry clout, but it did. Why take manpower from districts? Where people actually WORK for a living! Yep happened in vice once again. EBs handpicked A=team is 7 straight from the bottom in seniority. The great OZ was in for the play and went above to seniority no. 8-15 for detail. Too bad so sad OZ got sacked on this one. 7 grievances filed and list already changed. Sneaky lying OZ should be sidelined for the rest of his time on the job.

New Temp Unnit? What's fair is fair and right is right. Take the volunteers and then use reverse equation. The bosses look inept in even the simplest assignment. Too bad and sad you got rid of all the experienced bosses-Jody and crew.

't like it i can go back to a district. thats my option. but i do like it so for now i'll stay here

I led my old district in felony and part I arrests. They were all from retail theft jobs. I'm in a unit now and much happier. So get off you high horse nobody cares...and yes, you probably do make more felony arrests than me.

That moron Stevie Georgas is behind this detail and he's the one making all of the changes...noone with any juice is going to this new "detail" Stevie boy just tells his stooge sergeant to eliminate certain units from participation and clouted people as well. So all the cops with no clout got to go but any one that Stevie needs to protect while also protecting Chubby himself is absolved from participation. CAPS is not working anywhere. Why do we still have CAPS? Waste of manpower. Put them back on the streets (instead of planning trips, parties and basketball tourneys) and give us a FUCKING hand out here!
You "anti-unit" guys should stop your whining and bitching. Yes, there are some lazy ass Boss' kids and drinking buddies in units but there are also some good people that have special skills or talents and have worked hard to earn a spot there. A lot of us respect the guys in patrol and know how hard your job is, We've been there. We don't sit around trying to dog out patrol because you haven't made it to a unit yet. Anyone in patrol that says they don't want to be in a unit is lying because he's not in one yet. If your goal is to spend 30 years on the street, you need counseling. As far as admin spots, we need them too, try getting your tuition paid without someone to do that paperwork, try getting your overtime pay without someone to process it. Try working special employment or even try retiring without someone to process the paper work. Yes they are needed too. Stop waisting energy whining about the wrong crap. We have a problem with our superintendent, upper management and our union, not with another copper that works in a unit.
Did anyone notice that the bosses just violated the hell out of our contract? Did the great Donahue see it or is he still clipping the mayors toenails? POs were detailed to TRU with no notice, a day into the period, had their dog changed, their watch changed and put into a 10 hour work schedule. I didn't hear fop say a word, they are still counting their commanders pay.

Yes I made it into a unit for a good reason. What you have done in one or two decades I have done in half the time. Just because I'm in a unit does not allow the anyone to disregard the enept contract that we have and exclude the senority that I have earned. I'm am, we are lucky that labor affairs has already taken action. You need to stop crying about us we are still on the same side
