Missing Court

What's coming down now?
  • Dugan is to busy having each district/unit prepare another "list" this time a list of every p.o. who put in a court absentee 3x or more in the past 12 months. Whats this all about?
Have certain Watch Commanders been exercising a little too much "discretion" in excusing officers lately? Looks like another directive will be on the way shortly.

You're off on this one. This is about Area 4 officers after learning Penny is trying to hammer them to save her career.

Remember these key words and never use them again "three seperate transactions". The fallout is coming.

Dugan's obsessive micro management often blows up in his face. The "must be adhered to" watch commander matrix comes to mind. If this is true he will only be forcing coppers to make less arrests and write fewer movers.

What difference does it make if anyone shows up to court? 95% of the cases end up tossed out or the shitbag is given supervision or probabation. The courts are a gigantic fucking joke.

They cry about the overtime and then they want to screw you for not going to court. They should make an overtime reduction award and reward any Officer that misses 10 court dates per year. The city would be saving alot of money.

doogie why don't you sit in your office and just approve every arrest, inventory, and case report done. That would me micro-managing at its best. It's funny how when things aren't done your way you come up with a new policy, most often your new policy takes twice as long...Just look to the SPAR process, the order says to do it one way, but that is not the doogie way.

No arrest = No court. See it is true, you have never heard of anyone getting in trouble for doing nothing its only the morons who still "work" that get in trouble. Get it!!!!!!!!!

False testimonies, missing court, falsefying police arrest reports, violating civil rights. Soon to be coming down and starting with Area 4. Mostly 010/011 District officers. Tact and regular hair gel fueled beat cops to be indicted, if lucky just fired. I hope it was all worth it.

Remember, the 1st and the 16th of every month. Cops in slow districts get paid the same as the guetto cops. From what I heard the damage is done so hopefully after MORE cops get fired or go to prison then just MAYBE people will wise up and learn...but they won't.

The problem I have been faced with is if I hate this city so much, why would I bother to do work? Then again, the more I go to court, the more money I make and the more I screw this city over.

So, regardless of the arrest or whether the shitbags get off (yes it does bother me sometimes), court is my part-time job and I make an additional $30,000 per year sitting there reading. You can't get a better part-time job that pays about $55 per hour to sit and read, grab a decent lunch, even nap.

I agree. What better way to screw this city over is to grab all the court time you can. And ALWAYS mark the money box.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.....if each and every one of us did this job by the book, the boys downtown would be crying. Just imagine....every car on the watch down on either an arrest or banging out a G.O. case. The back logs would be more staggering than they are now.

And what could the bosses do to you? Your doing the job as dictated in the General Orders. Are you going to screw me over by following the rules boss?

Make a traffic stop.....write a must appear. It may take a while but the judges down at traffic court would be screaming their heads off.

Get a domestic and the victim won't sign? Sign the complaints yourself.

Can't get Safe City because your numbers are down....then next time you make an arrest or traffic stop, explain to the nice person that you can't give them a break because you need to fill your quota to get special employment.

When they complain, have your Sgt explain the situation.

As an area 4 dick several years ago, a couple of guys on the tact team insisited I approve robbery charges on a mental, who bumped into a girl as he repeatedly mumbled to himself "gimme dat".

They lied to me twice, and when I went in lockup to interview the guy, he had no pants on and was eating his shit.

Now I'm pro copper, but this was total buuuulshiiit.

Hey Danny Dumbass, read this and understand that after being affected by this myself from an even Dumberass Capt. at the district level......is dumberass a word? You can rest assured that I will never ever, ever, be in a position where I have to ask for anything form a fucking boss with reference to a court absence, until they come to me and ask why I wrote one of their family.

Where the hell are you working buddy? Even when I was working my ass off in 007 I wasnt making anything close to that. 50/60 hour periods and i was lucky to clear 900 after uncle sam. Im calling bullshit. You would have to work something like 200-150hrs every month...bullshit

A detective could do that pretty easy and more. If he's patrol he's full of shit. Also 150 hours a month for a patrolman (D1) with 5 or more years on would equate to around $60,000 a year in overtime before taxes. I don't know how you were doing 60 hours a period and only clearing $900.00. You better call an attorney because someone was stealing your money since they would have been taking more out in taxes than you took home.

Took long enough for someone to 2nd that!!! I was in 011 and made dope pinches every day, branch 25 was standing room only with 011, and SOS in it, cops had to stand there for hours sometimes. 30K? KMA
And let the judge see you reading, you know what, sounds like someone really never has been to court at all.

I've been gone a while, but I'm pretty sure that the average PO is making at least 30-35 dollars an hour (60,000 to 70,,, per year). At time and a half that is only about 50 hours a period or so. Seems doable to me. I don't know where you get 200hours a month from. Obviously math is not one of your strong suits.

5/30/2010 11:28:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Here is the math for all you retards out there. It can be done... on average you need 12 days of court every period.

PO w/ 4.5 years $5688.50 a month
@ 160 hrs a month = $35.553125 an hour ($53.3296875 @ time and a half)

$30,000 divided by @53.3296875 an hour = 562.538454.... hours of OT needed

562.538454.... hours of OT needed
divided by 13 periods = 43.272188829014002609853888749907 of OT hours per period.

We had at least five homicide detectives in Area 5 with over 900 hours overtime last year. these are guys who have a lot of court (motions, jury trials) and do a lot of very good homicide investigations.
