Paid in Prison?

  • After his third conviction for drunken driving, city laborer John LaGiglio was sentenced to one year in Stateville Prison.

But that didn't stop him from keeping his $30-an-hour city job thanks to a heavy dose of timekeeping fraud, according to a report by city Inspector General Joe Ferguson.

Ferguson is recommending LaGiglio be fired for using a combination of sick days, vacation days and personal days to serve his two-month prison sentence.

And they kept it quiet for five years.

You watch, he'll keep his job. He can blame it all on the supervisors that allowed it. They're retired now and this will all go away.

If it's time he earned then why is it wrong. He didn't get convicted of work related issues so his earned time should not be touched. He might need to be fired but its a DUI not a rape conviction. Did he kill or injure someone. I don't get it?

I guess he didn't need a doctor's note after using 3 sick days. Or maybe the prison doctor hand delivered the doctor's note for him so he could use up all those sick days his timekeeper was ordered to drum up for him.

The inspector generals office is a joke. They investigate in secret, you don't know the outcome, and many city workers, Like RS in the water department, has multiple arrests but don't have to report the arrests or convictions to the IG or the city.
So you can be a teacher, get a child molesting conviction, go back to teach after your sentence, or you can work in finance after a bank fraud conviction.
It's the Chicago way.

what's going on with the junking good squad cars and then giving pool cars that are in worse condition? Are they investigating this scam?

They will junk a decent car with 70,000 miles and then give you a pool car with 150,000 miles with holes in the floor. Who's stealing the squads????

I know a lot of inside people, CAPS people, watch secretaries, field Lts. and tact guys who don't put in a full day either. So what's your point?

I got you beat!
There is an Administrative Mgr. at the Academy that does less than that, she gets paid for the entire day plus a reserved parking spot to boot!

OK. Let's start with the sick days being criminally misused. I'm pretty sure they don't consider "in jail" an illness...maybe in Obamacare, but let's not get off track.

Now let me ask you, do they do that for everybody that wants to take a 2 month furlough? Does he have really have two months time "coming to him" every year?

If you really don't see anything wrong with this picture, then you are part of the problem, bub. Expect more from your tax dollars. We all should.

You know dick. All these people have a boss and you're not it. You couldn't possibly know their schedules, what they do, when they come do it, etc..

You see something criminal, be a man, do something about it. Do your own job and stop worrying about everybody else. You sound like a child.

Convicted Felon Dan (rot-in-hell) Rostenkowski collected his Congressional Pension while in Club Fed. The was pardoned by Jimmie Carter at the last minute when he was kicked out of office.

Why can't we get a Presidential Pardon for Bill Cozzi? Where is our political muscle?
