3rd Suspect Charged

  • A third man has been charged with murder in the slaying last month of Chicago Police Officer Thomas Wortham IV.

Marcus Floyd, 19, of the 3100 block of W. Lexington St., was charged with two counts of felony murder in the slaying of Wortham and the shooting death of Brian Floyd. Brian Floyd was Marcus Floyd's cousin, and was fatally shot while trying to steal Wortham's new motorcycle outside Wortham's parents' Chatham home.

Marcus Floyd also faces a charge of attempted armed robbery and discharge of a firearm.

Too bad we've moved beyond the days of a quick trail, a cigarette and a blindfold. This might drag out for a few years yet even though it's seems like a pretty open-and-shut case.

Can these guys get the death penalty, or is that moratorium still in place?

What movie did the jusge say" I believe in giving a man a fair trial and then take him out the back and hang him". But I don't know what movie it was. I just liked his thinking.

It's unfortunate a nasty blood infection didn't set in and kill this waste of oxygen.

He and his partners killed a good man.

It's good that we live in a society with laws and procedures, but every once in awhile I have the desire to go vigilante or old west on guys like this.

We can only pray for swift justice. I keep hoping for once cook county will get it right, but I get the sneaking suspicion that one of these human turds will do only 20 years or less. I can see it now, one flips and cooperates, and takes sweetheart deal. I will be outraged.

To the first poster: the movie was a great Clint Eastwood classic: Hang em High. Who can forget when he (Dep. U.S. Marshal Jed Cooper) kicked Bruce Derns (killer and cattle rustler) ass and said you are going to jail, riding upright or draped over the saddle, doesn't matter much to me. Secondly, this citizen troller thanks whomever devised the felony murder statute deserves a Nobel Peace prize nomination. (Certianly wasn't a lawyer in this state) I'm guessing it originated in the 30's to add some vigor against bank robbers but now in the Wortham case, it takes another very large piece of shit off the streets of the community. IF only the States Attorney can do the job and get a conviction and IF a judge can somehow find it in his or her nature to put Mr. Bad Ass Marcus away for his natural life. You would be surprised at how many people among us decry the felony murder rule. Thank god its the law. And unfortunately, those two aforementioned IF's are as large as life as Officer Wortham is. Sure, he is not alive in body but his spirit IS alive in some measure in all of us.

UMmm, look for the People's Law Office or some other politically motivated bunch left-wingers to get involved in the defense. The victim was a police officer, after all.

There will be allegations of torture. They'll show the court artist's conceptions of torture devices. There will be talk of racial profiling. And in the end, some numbskull Circus Court judge is gonna wind up wither under the pressure and supress some kind of evidence and then the State's Attorney will nolle the charges.

Then the civil suit will begin.

Two out of three is pretty good. better than none out of three.

Paying witnesses to testify by reducing their time in jail is a bad thing (for multiple reasons), but maybe it is worse to let all of them off because that option was not available.

Fuck the blindfold. Let him see it coming, shoot for the guts, then let him writhe around on the ground for a while before administering the coup de grace.

They should also charge this piece of human excrement with littering the street with his blood. And bill his family for the CFD ambulance ride, which he wouldn't have needed if he wasn't a crooked bastard.
