Police took two people in custody Sunday night for firing a weapon in their direction in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.
About 11:23 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle during a traffic stop in the 6100 block of South Eberhart Avenue, said Police News AffairsPolice fired shots at a suspect they say pulled a gun on officers during a traffic stop this morning in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.
The shooting happened about 12:05 a.m. in the 4200 block of West 21st Place, said Police News Affairs

Where are the CPD leaders? The only exempt to speak about the death of Officer Bailey was Cuello. Even her very brief talk seemed strained. Ehere is Weis or peterson? Gosh, I really miss the days before Weis when a strong street wise exempt would rally the troops and show leadership. No one talked to the press. Why does Weis take so long to issue a statement? The chief of dics should be leading us to capture the 3 offenders. No wonder gang members are not afraid of a uniform. There is no penalty to pay. Slow, ineffective justice if any at all.

We read about lay offs across the country in law enforcement but no one in Chicago dares to call what happened to CPD a layoff.
Where is the money that sits in our budget for these 900 officers? That's where a REAL reporter could find a REAL story!

We figured a long time ago that it perhaps would have been better had CPD been taken over by the feds.
Now don't be so quick to flame... Hear this one out, please.
It is quite possible that the crippling influence wielded by by the rev'runs, alderfools, the mayor and other clout-monkeys over the Department would have been mitigated.
We would've perhaps had more in the way of man power, equipment and training.
Department operations would have been streamlined and several echelons of gold stars that were created to reward Daley Inc. associates would have been peeled away/made to justify their existence/show that they ARE QUALIFIED to hold their place on the organizational chart. THIS was the big one and in no way would Daley Inc. willingly cede control of the Department because this is exactly what would occur and a LOT of Daley Inc. associates within CPD would be tossed on their asses and their aldermanic & religious sponsors wouldn't be able to wield any influence.
Of course the only problem with the above is the "Hollow Fellow" sitting in the Oval Office (we also call him "The Pale Shadow") is beholden to the epicenter of political whoredom that is Chicago and the overlord-pimp who is the King Of All Crime, the little greasy carny pick-pocket himself.

I arrested a M/1 July 7 for battery, he was walking WB on Fullerton cocking his arm back and throwing a punch at people's faces. He stopped just short of hitting them, morning commuters were moving quick to get out of his way, ducking his punches etc. No one would fight. No one. Men young and old just kept walking WB on Fullerton towards the El at Sheffield.
He made contact with one young girl, knocked her down, 18 yoa, 90 pounds.
A 40 year old man took some action, he went into the street and flagged me down, didn't take action himself.
I arrested the guy, one of the mentally ill M/1's that hang around there, charged him with battery & DC. Also he was in violation of bail bond, I-Bond the previous week for.... battery on the street.
He sat for a few days then was I-Bonded out of Cook county Jail, again.
He was again arrested, July 17, for punching a woman on the street in front of Truman College.
This would have made the third I-Bond for a Class A misdemeanor in 3 weeks.
He is in County Jail again on $20,000 bond with a court date Wednesday. Last time the young punk ASA in Br 29 wouldn't even talk to me about the guy, ASA was too busy.
Another Class A misdemeanor, I expect he will get I-bonded again. did I mention he has a 53 page rap sheet? 53 pages.
When he finally kills someone maybe he will be held. It is going to happen and those liberal yuppie cowards who would never lift a finger in their own defense will sound outraged.
Well, I do what I can but with an old man's body to go with my gray hair what more can I do? Can't call him names or I might get suspended.
Of course the young turks here will flame my ass telling me "why don't you retire old man, go enjoy your pension" etc.
It was a younger officer who drove past the guy when he was trying to flag down the police and that younger officer didn't come back to help me arrest the mental case.

When these IPRA mopes are leaving the station, they stop to inform a sgt that the "victim" in lockup is cold. 3 of our brothers were murdered in the last 2 months and these fucking assholes have the audacity to come into a police facility and call some shitbag who tried to kill the police a victim?! As a retired officer I've decided to carry my weapon every where that I go and when I see an Officer making a stop, I'm going to pull over and wait, just in case he needs a backup. Oh, bye the way, I'm a woman who retired with 31 yrs.

Also, the first one to speak the truth was Keith Calloway, and it got him lateraled. I had 20+ when he was a ppo. KC was a good guy then, and it seems he is a good man now.
Spoke with "Purple Shades" earlier today. He says he's slightly banged up, but swears he'll be back this Friday. WTF! If I were him, I'd take as much time off as possible. The kid has been through a lot since November and he still keeps ticking away. I now understand why he was a soldier. Love him or hate him he always has a cop's back out there in the street. MT, rest up brother-you're going to need it.

I agree old timer.
They can hire all the officers they want. But if the officers aren't willing to the job or simply CAN'T. Then we might be alone...Very alone.

Btw-if you go to the City of Chicago and use police officer killed as your search topic- it reports "no results found". ... Sure the mayor cares about us! We lose a thirdpolice officer in 2 months but no mention on the City's website? It's like we don't exist!

Where are the CPD leaders? The only exempt to speak about the death of Officer Bailey was Cuello. Even her very brief talk seemed strained. Ehere is Weis or peterson? Gosh, I really miss the days before Weis when a strong street wise exempt would rally the troops and show leadership. No one talked to the press. Why does Weis take so long to issue a statement? The chief of dics should be leading us to capture the 3 offenders. No wonder gang members are not afraid of a uniform. There is no penalty to pay. Slow, ineffective justice if any at all.

Just what would you propose? Beat down people that you think might be gang bangers? That will just get more cops put in jail.
This is not really a policing problem, although that is a small aspect of the problem.
You have a city and county government that is essentially a criminal enterprise. You can't really expect them to take any actions that are going to imperil their fellow criminals that they are often in direct collusion with.

Amen. This is a life-shattering invasion of peoperty and person, perpetrated upon elderly people who have not so much the resources to bounce back from it. Some pine away, die. Let's see some scowling blue in the courtroom to let the judge know that this is many steps over the line.
People like this were "to the jailhouse born." Let's oblige.
