And Speaking of Morale...

Has anyone seen any trace of that "morale survey" that J-Fled had commissioned at taxpayer expense?

You know, the one that cost a lieutenant her inside spot when she said J-Fled was obligated to release it, no matter if the results showed something like 83% of the respondents thought J-Fled was a J-Failure?

The one that J-Fled said if it showed he was the cause of low morale, he'd leave?

We heard that Drew Peterson was in charge of hiding that thing, too. It sure would be interesting if it surfaced sometime soon.

Hello, media?

How about one of you geniuses get off your ass and ask Jody Weis these questions at his next press conference that he so dearly loves to hold?

Superintendant Weis? Members of the Chicago Police Department were invited to participate in a morale survey, presumably paid for by the tax payers. What were the results of that survey, and since it was paid for by the taxpayers, why haven't those results been made public?

And in a related question, in light of all of the fallout from Lt. John Andrews criticism of you and your administration of the Chicago Police Department, and knowing that you have stated in the past that if you were the cause of low morale in the Department, you would leave without being asked to do so, what is your reason for NOT resigning?

I'm virtually certain that if you ask him those two questions, you will have stories to write for a minimum of several days if not weeks.

You're welcome!

Morale what morale?

In today's Sun Times we have Lenihan and Farley begging the courts to lower an unfair and unjust punitive damage award.

In yesterday's newspaper we have Cozzi's sentence upheld by the courts.

Burge will be sentenced in November.

In today's paper it is reported that Alton Logan threatens the City's lawyers with no charges filed.

Swistowicz's charges are dismissed "with prejudice" and them somehow reinstated.

It appears that the FBI and the Federal courts have declared war on the Chicago Police Department.

Maybe it is time to disband CPD and turn the functions of defending the public over to Flint Taylor, Jon Loevy and the FBI!

There have been members of my family on the CPD since the early 1910's. We have considered it our family duty to be the police and to be professional. We are not alone there are many police officers out there that come from the same background. We have all tried to serve with pride and honor. I just can not recommend to anyone a career with the CPD. It will be at least a decade before the damage done by the current superintendent is corrected. Weis was not just a mistake he was a catastrophe. Thank you Mayor Daley for putting your own lust for power above the City you are supposed to serve.
In a very short time you have taken a beautiful town and made it the joke on the lake.

The Morale Survey showed morale was bad and J-Fed was the fault. However, the official stance is that the findings are inclusive because of sample size and the preconceived hatred of J-Fed by those taking the test. Also, that it was not intended for that purpose, which he was told. Their is a Lt. in 021 who has kept her promise and kept her mouth shut, but there are other people who know but can't get their hands on the results to prove it If it ever does come out it will be so spun as to show nothing.

Jammie Carroll, 36, of Polk City, was seriously injured in the 3000 block of East Grand Avenue Friday night after a group of people beat him up, causing severe injuries to his eyes, cheekbones and nose, Murillo wrote. Carroll is white, and many of the suspects are black, police said.

There is no morale on this police department. What other company can you go to and they promote you from a do-nothing driver to a supervisor? The bosses have no heart or pride in anything they do. Everybody either wants to get promoted or make everybody happy. We are the police! Our job involves WORK and NOT making everybody happy! There is no fear amongst any of the savages for the police. We are a joke to them all, no matter where one works. It's embarrassing to be the police in this city. They job is filled with nothing but lazy people who will stab you in the back for nothing. How about being proud of what you do? I've been around long enough, and have worked in area"s 4/5, to see what has changed. Take that great 016th district. How is it that the guys that work are treated like crap and the do-nothings are rewarded? If you shake your ass or get on your knee you get rewarded, but get activity to protect our home front, your a burden. Before the 016th district is totally gone, can someone please be the police up there? How is it that on the 3rd watch, Tinkerbell and Rambo have gone all year in civilian dress in an unmarked car on a focus mission(where nothing happens) having no activity? No response to jobs, no activity, no nothing. Cars dont answer jobs and supervisors dont even address the issue because others pick up the slack, It's our homefront, you're still the police, FUCKING act like it you pussies.

A GREAT PLACE TO SERVE

There has never been a better time to join the NYPD. The Department is modernizing management, improving technology, and updating training. The NYPD leads the nation with the most dramatic crime reductions in our time. The NYPD is making history by making New York the safest city in America and you can be a part of it.

A CHANCE TO ADVANCE

Every police executive started as a police officer. Many acquired law and other advanced degrees along the way. Police officers develop expertise in everything from computers to community organization. There are no glass ceilings or dead ends. You can go as far as your energy and determination will take you.

JFled will soon be gone and do you know what?

NOTHING will change!
Superintendent drivers and mayoral bodyguards have been moving up the ranks of the CPD for 100 years!

The problem is not JFled. The problem is lawsuits. You no longer work for the CPD. You are an independent contractor. If things work out good, good for you. If things turn out bad, you are on the hook.

The problem is that society now believes that anything that goes wrong is your fault and if something does go wrong the policeman will pay with his freedom or his money.

Other than putting Cozzi in jail, JFled has done nothing. JFled is simply another incompetent in charge. JFled didn't change policing in Chicago, civil juries did.

Resign yourself to this fact. This job is never going to get "better.". If anything, it will get worse. Much, much worse.

SCC,

Please post this bullshit ASAP.

Daley reaches out to Obama and the Homeland Security MAN visits Chicago and declares Chicago to be prepared for any eventuality.

What a huge lie!

Homeland Security secretary visits Chicago

"What I would tell Chicagoans is in a world where you cannot eliminate all risk...Chicagoans can be confident that every effort that I know of that can be made is being made to minimize the risk. And that if something were to happen, that their first-responders are prepared for it," Napolitano said.

"The Morale Survey showed morale was bad and J-Fed was the fault. However, the official stance is that the findings are inclusive because of sample size and the preconceived hatred of J-Fed by those taking the test. Also, that it was not intended for that purpose, which he was told. Their is a Lt. in 021 who has kept her promise and kept her mouth shut, but there are other people who know but can't get their hands on the results to prove it If it ever does come out it will be so spun as to show nothing."

OK, the previous survey was faulty.

How about a new one, using recognized survey methods? UIC did the first one. Aren't they also running the latest national survey that J-Fled is pushing?

How can one survey be properly administered and the other flawed, when both are administered by the same surveyor?

Why don't you make a FOIA request (or ask a neighbor to)? Ask for results, methodology, how it was restricted to whom, was it anonymous, cost. If denied follow-up with AG's office. It's a start.

Even Neil Steinberg is on our side in this one and he has made a career out of ripping us. That's how bad this situation is.

@Anonymous - Off Topic that case report is the funniest stuff since the Commander in a Northside District signed off on a not so PC letter that his secretary wrote and got DUMPED! I didn't know a W/C signed off on it TOO! Hilarious and Sad, the CR's are working on that caper. Who was the W/C? The P.O. and Sgt. were dumped immediately, just great stuff our Tact heroes.

Back in 96 the CDR of 012 signed off on a mempo written in his name by one of his Lt's. She is now a Cpt in 014.

What Lt????? Names, please. She should be applauded for taking a position.

8/26/2010 09:25:00 AM

She is merit Lt. M.E, and, don't worry, she is an absolutely shameless self-promoter. She toots her own horn plenty and pats herself on the back enough. She does't need our help. And, in her mind, she was the real police, however, she is delusional.

Hey, it takes a lot of time and effort to make your hair look that good all the time. Oh, you mean that isn't 'real policing'?

Much like you fucked up in your post, it is very possible she did the same with the survey. Actually, if you were acquainted with her, you would know it is most likely.

Just because the survey questions only required a simple yes or no answer, it does not diminish the importance of having properly formulated the questions. And the ability to proper formulate is not one of her strengths. She is a real piece of work.

Not too long ago, I hope, to be forgotten, but the Mo Dailey incident was an amount of high drama that seems rather quaint today.

The tempest in a teapot concerned a "beat profile" that described drinking and domestic violence as some of the main problems on this particular beat, and it tried to link the two together. And no, it was not politically correct.

But the collision of demographics and crime stats can lead to some uncomfortable realities, which may not be provable conclusions.

Mo was well-liked and is missed, taken from his family too early.

J Fled and the morale group are hiding the morale survey because morale sucks. Enough said.

He went from 1200 to 3290.

FYI to set the record straight: UIC DID NOT administer the morale survey. Lt. ME did with the assistance of R&D. All UIC did was receive the data from R&D, summarize it and return it to the dept. And here it sits...
