Airport 80?

Supposedly, the bids are about to come out sending up to 80 people from Patrol to the airports. The word is currently 40 bid, 40 management.

Pardon us, but where the hell are we finding 80 bodies for the airports? We just got how many recruits? 86 or so? Now we're taking 80 bodies and sending them to the airport?

We know we're short. We know Maurer embarrassed Shortshanks. We know that O'Hare is running midnights with one single officer some evenings. We also know that the Districts, already undermanned by thousands, can little afford 80 more bodies. We need a hiring wave and that ain't coming any time soon either.

We're robbing Peter to pay Paul once again. And Peter's broke.

The Fed's gave the City cash to pay for up to 50 P.O.'s to be hired and sent to the airports. Since we have a contract that says the new guy has to bid as well for these spots it will not be PPO's heading that way.

We need more POs. What we need far more is a total house cleaning of the command staff. We need to get rid of some units and combine others. The bosses need to learn how to manage more than a couple of people. The dept needs officers in the districts, detectives, and sgts. We don't need more bosses and more units. Everyone on the job knows this including J Fraud.

Unfortunately nothing will change. Should a scandal happen the boss of the area of where it happens will be the only victim. The CPD is just another place for the politicos and ruling class to put their people and give them a nice check for kissing ass.

80 cops at O'Hare?

Heck I have yet to see 80 rent-a-cops waddling around from that private company with the walkie-talkies that have their uniform almost exactly like CPD's and when something does happen, they are no where to be found. I'd love to know who was able to weasel that contract!

Are you kidding? This must be an SCC punk'd episode! We are running cars on midnights 1 man, downing cars on all watches and now this! Looks like the blood in the streets obviously does not matter! My district is by the airport, and the rare occasion (maybe 1X every 2 years) we are called to help we are there! Can the airport 80 respond to the district units when we call a 10-1? The answer is NO! What kind of thinking is that where the airport is more important than all the people being shot-killed-officers needing assistance-Michigan ave and the beaches being attacked by roaming bands of savages?

Take the 80+ and put them in districts where they are needed! Hey media are you listening? Marky mark and the funky bunch what say you??

This is because the Feds found out the city was diverting money that they send for police officers assigned to the airport. The same thing has happended with the Aviation Police.
Also, they are sniffing around the fire dept too.
Daley & company has been using the airports for their personal piggy bank for a long time.
If the mayor ever finds out the millions they have lost thru incompetance, he might have the big one!!

Nothing to see here . . . . those bodies are not coming from patrol. they come from reverends, aldercreatures, and carrothers. all previous inside spots that were redundant to begin with so it's just another shuffle of useless people in useless spots that are being moved to the very unimportant spot at the airport where nothing happens (forget that stuff that already has happened). . . . don't cross the yellow caution tape. . . . move along.

Gee...do you think there will be any bids??? The airports historically have been full of clout babies, and whack-job bosses who dont like a working regular PO. Remember...None of the Supervisors there are there by bid! Not one! People are regularly transferred in by "management". And the ones that are there are so afraid of losing their "posistion" that they will stab anybody in the back. There is no honor among theives...This is a den of vipers who attack their own kind.
Be careful what you ask for...You will then be stuck at the airport. FYI......

40 from bid process, 40 from Headquarters. Then, 40
from patrol districts to fill the void at HQ. Another 5-10
retire from Airports, again another mgmt. backfill, so in reality, it's just around 15-20 from bid.
The offer of a bid position is not a gaurantee of future employment. This offer is open to all bagaining members, void when legitamate. One PAR per member, per bid period, management has the right to rescind the offer when the number of qualified applicants exceeds the number of insider phone calls. Word is that the state is trying to approve retirement eligibility age at 63. That means if you came on the job in your early 20's you would likely pay close to $100,000 more into your pension before ever seeing a cent. Also those who are already retired will not receive cost of living raises. We are screwed because they wasted the money and didn't do the right thing when times were good. If you have 20 years on now and you are in your 40's, that will mean working another 20 years. This is terrible.

Who is running this Dept Pep Boys Manny Moe and Jack? like jody mikey brust? What brain trust thought of this? You want to know something no matter what happens with budget and ideas Cline (Say what you want he was the real police), would go directly to daley and tell him what a boneheaded move his people tried on CPD, does jody ever stand up? No, you are wrong, bucko. There was 5 sergeants out there who bid in. Now there is only 4, since Hiram's sister retired. I'll give you some hints, D.S., Spike, the overtime king: D.K. , and some white guy whose name escapes me. The last time there was a bid, it was scooped up by Carmen who was already detailed there. Before that, Spike and the other guy got the the bid spots with seniority from 1991 as a sergeant.

too many cementheads on this job who are soooo dumb that they fail to realize that they can make more sitting at home than going to work--- retire and no more paying into pension, deferred comp, or medical equals more money on your check than you are making now--- some guys are just stupid--- maybe they are worried that they will drink themselves to death or the old lady will drive them nuts--- maybe the thought of paying full price for dinner is a deterrent--- retire and enjoy life, fuck the job----
