He Makes Children Cry

The Oak Brook citizen who compares cops and firefighters to piss bums on the street? He like to make children cry. And he bragged about it last year to the Daily Herald:
  • Telling her mother that she wanted to come to the aid of a library under attack, 11-year-old Sydney Sabbagha stood at the podium before the Oak Brook village board.

"I used to go to the library knowing there were people there to help me find a book. Now there is no one to help me," Sydney said solemnly. "It will never be the same without the people you fired."

  • "Those who come up here with tears in their eyes talking about the library, put your money where your mouth is," Xinos shot back. He told Sydney and others who spoke against the layoffs of the three full-time staffers (including the head librarian and children's librarian) and two part-timers to stop "whining" and raise the money themselves.

"I don't care that you guys miss the librarian, and she was nice, and she helped you find books," Xinos told them.

  • Sydney was upset and "her little friend was in tears" after Xinos spoke at the meeting last week, says mom Hope Sabbagha.

"I wanted that kid to lose sleep that night," a grinning Xinos says Wednesday, as he invites me for a nearly two-hour interview in his Mercedes-Benz in the gated Oak Brook community where he lives. "This is the real world and the lesson, you folks who brought your kids here, is if you want something, pay for it."

And read this quote:
  • "You may like the library, but when you call 9-1-1, you want a policeman or a fireman before someone to tell you where the books are in the library," says the man who has talked of privatizing, outsourcing or even closing the library.
Gee, he wasn't sounding so supportive of the police or firefighters the other day when he advocated firing a firefighter a month until the union dissolved and capitulated to his whims.

Boy, what a weasely bully. Pop for the Viagra instead of beating up on children. Every Cop in Illinois, Wisc, Iowa, Ind, Mo, and Ky should give this guy the FULL Benefit of traffic law enforcement or there is no justice. Forget to use that turn signal? 10 mph over the limit? change lanes without signaling?, yakking on the cell phone? Hows that seatbelt? Bit speedy in the construction zone? Welcome to the real world out here and there are hundreds of other obscure IL traffic laws going back to the early 20th century that are still on the books and in his case deserve exploration.

It's easy to say that you can do without something until it's actually gone and you need it. These are tough times economically and we all must reduce our expenditures, government included. These politicians always make a bee line to the most painful cuts to show the voters who is boss. They spend money on stuff that could be deferred until a later date, but they won't do that, the first thing they want to cut is emergency services and I guess libraries.

That 69 y.o. criminal attorney guy sounds like a real character. From the linked article:

"A poor kid who grew up in Berwyn and worked in his dad's cafeteria in Chicago, Xinos went to law school and served in the Marines. Xinos says he speaks for Oak Brook's view of the Teamsters when he says, 'Nobody here likes those kind of people.'

Xinos, who says he never had children in part because he wasn't sure he'd be able to support them, sprinkles the F-word throughout his conversations. He dismisses a recent library event involving dogs with a blunt three-word rant in which he bookends swear words around the word "that.""

Amazing - they quibble and bitch about fire staffing, but then go on to discuss how they are going to spend hundreds of thousands to reconfigure their golf course because it floods on occasion. And the flooding comes from the uber-elite Butler Golf Club (blacks need not apply.) In addition someone (Village Manager? President) laughs about getting $73,000 from a strip mall owner to pay for a traffic light. He even comments "...sometimes you have to play hard ball..." Sound like a shake-down to you? How about boycotting OB businesses, including McD's? And let them know why...

He hates the idea that anyone he doesn't consider his equals (which would be a small group) might actually make a decent living. An attitude sadly all too common among those who manage to make a pile in law or other professions. "No books for you, you filthy little urchin!" Meanwhile his kids have illegal aliens to carry their Transformers lunch boxes to the Country Day School.

He is, quite simply, an asshat. He is destined to live a lonely and selfish life, and will probably die a lonely and bitter man. He sounds like George Soros.

Is this the same jackass who handed out pens with "Xinos the Lawyer" and his phone number on them to anyone who looked poor and miserable at 26th and Cal in the 90s?

I also call bullshit on his claim in the article that he "grew up poor" in Berwyn. There weren't a lot of poor people in Berwyn back when he was living there--it wasn't a wealthy community, but there wasn't any poverty there either.

That's why nobody spoke up against his "street people" comment. He's a known asshat and the committee members just ignored his tripe.

I don't care if this asshole is 69 years old. If he would have talked that way to one of my children, he would have been bitch slapped into another dimension by this street person, because apparently that is all HE understands.

This is a hot one --

"[Xinos] said Oak Brook had to 'stop indulging people in their hobbies' and 'their little, personal, private wants.'"

http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=325508

"Without leaving town, Oak Brook residents can partake in sports at the village-owned Sports Core or park district facilities. The Core, as residents refer to it, includes tennis courts, a swimming pool, wading pool, golf course, driving range and the polo field that put Oak Brook on the map. The park district owns the Family Recreation Center, which includes an aquatic center, fitness club, basketball courts and indoor running track, plus the Racquet Club, which has tennis and handball courts, saunas and whirlpools."

by night?

He lives in friggin Oak Brook in a gated community and drives a Benz. Hes a criminal offense attorney. And he's poor? I dont know about you, but I think that most if not all of the residents of Oak Brook can afford a property tax increase to sustain the style of living they are accustomed to.

Or, they can just treat it like chicago, not hire any more cops, plant flowers in the middle of all the streets, stop plowing the snow, and then invite all the major gang leaders to a summit to divide up the town, and decide who sligs which substance. Asshat

This old gezzer Jag-off likes making little girl cry!

He is a fucking disgrace to call himself a Marine. A real tough guy who grew up living on the mean streets of Berwyn and then Oak Brook who defends scum bags.

I found another blog post that gave Xinos the moniker of "The Asshole of Oak Brook"!
