Another Dickhead Response
No, we still aren't linking to the J-Fled blog, but this is exactly why we detest this individual so much:
- Dear Sir,
Another day of no unmarked pool cars, and not enough cars here to man the units needed. 015 is in the same boat, since they inquired today if we had any to lend. I facetiously ask, do the numerous people working at 35th Street with take-home cars share the same issue as those of us in patrol?

You would be better served, as a leader, to look at solving the problem, rather than sending me cute comments. Pck up the phone, call DS O'Keefe, and see if he can help you. That's your job, that's why you're a sergeant. JW

So not only is the answer a month-and-a-half late, the smarmy tone completely captures the failed tenure of J-Fled. Exactly how is a sergeant supposed to get anyone, let alone O'Keefe (who is another story altogether), supposed to locate non-existent cars for his people? And his legit beef about persons not subject to any sort of emergency call out (like O'Keefe for example!) have unmarked cars at their disposal along with 50 or more people our readers could name at the drop of a hat.
Hey J-Fled? Do you know your minions on the policy group are running your blog with answers like these to officers and supervisors? If we pulled this with a citizen, we're sure we'd be the subject of verbal abuse beefs and CR investigations. We still can't wait to see the back of this asshat.

He's a FEEB where the smarmy tone is the hallmark of their shifting the blame onto the person who points out the discrepancies. Nothing new here. A J-Fled countdown clock might be a much needed idea to remind everyone this clowns days as Supe are closing fast.
The bad thing about this is, Weis has no shame at all. Hell, that response was likely written by 3M,
the biggest little jagoff currently with an office at Fort Fellatio.
I don't blame you at all for refusing to link your blog to that shitstank Blog 501. I've never logged onto it, and have no reason to ever do so. There's nothing they can print there to erase the indelible impression that Weis is, simply, an asshole.
You know there are a lot of cute comments here too. His out of proportion big head might explode if he reads here
It would be better to ask these people with take home cars, IDIVIDUALLY, to borrow their cars after they get home and return them before they go to work.
You promise to return them, fully gassed up, all fluids topped off and the interior and exterior thoroughly cleaned before they have to make the arduous trip to worship at the feet of the Fed Trinity.
You swear that no puking, sweating, bleeding, pissing shitting skumbag will be crammed into the backseat or trunk of their pristine warrior chariot.
You will not drive over 25 miles an hours, stop for yellow lights and for a full five seconds at stop sign. You will know and avoid all potholes and speedbumps.
You will not eat drink, smoke, fart, make phone calls, text or engage in sexual intercourse of any kind while using this car.
You will wear white parade gloves, surgical shoe covers and put in paper lace seat covers before entering.
Yeah, you might trying do that. It would do you about as much good as calling O'Keefe, or blogging J-Fled.
What a DOUCHE you are, Jody. And your policy group is a bunch of wankers.
no car means you sit in station until they find one for you--- what's wrong with that, who wants to do any police work anyway....
What an out-of-touch asshole, that is why there is a chain of command, Sgts. don't just "call" Deputys to ask about the car situation. Glad he and his ilk will be gone soon.
Does anyone know the official last day of JFled? WE SHOULD HAVE A PARTY AND DONATE THE MONEY RAISED.
I don't believe that there is any doubt left that he is the cause of low morale in this department. He needs to man up and do what he said he would do. Leave.
JW - you should be ashamed of your tenure & the malcontents you have responding to officer inquires. Respect is earned - we can all tell that you my fearfull leader have a long way to go with responses like this post. This Sgt is a worker, highly educated (JD) and genuinly cares about this job, his officers and this City! If you (or those that you charge with responding) can't respond constructively, then STFU and don't respond at all - u are a disgrace to a once proud department...but have no doubts - your time is coming to a quick end and we will be proud again!!!
004 - 1st Watch
I'm not a cop so my opinion doesn't count much here, but MY GOD, YOU'RE THE SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE, ASSHOLE! The buck stops with you and if a man under your charge feels the need to appeal to your office to address a critical issue, only a small, petty turd takes that as some sort of personal sleight against him. An effective manager takes that as a cue to actually do something!
What lame buck-passing and what a miserable turd this man is!
Ya know, funny thing... Recently, I had a 40+ year old Craftsman tool break. I went to Sears to return it and the people there didn't know how to handle it, since the tool itself had been discontinued entirely from the Craftsman line.
I sent an email to Steve Light, the Senior VP of Tools at the Sears company and within *minutes*, I receive a personal response that he's on the matter and will take care of me. Me, a random schmuck with a fucking broken hand tool, him, the Senior VP of a meaningful division at a publicly traded company, takes care of my problem... and why? Because he cares.
He didnt take my email as a sleight towards him, his company or his tools. He took it as a problem that needed to be fixed and his being the guy paid to handle problems, stepped right the fuck up, grabbed the passing buck and dealt with it. He wanted to see to it personally that not even one of his customers was left out in the cold... Not one.
How in gods name is it that a Senior VP at Sears takes time out of his day to fix my problem with a tool, yet the man in charge of the Chicago Police cannot do the same when an officer is in need of assistance with a critical staffing/equiptment problem that very well may impact the safety of many, many citizens?
Ya know, I never really liked Jody Weis, but I never really understood all the hate cops seemed to have for the dude, until right now. That man just pulled back the curtains on his grotesque character and showed the world what kind of pathetic man he is.
What a terrible, terrible manager and leader.
This is yet another public display showing why my revenue producing activity is down to at most 20% of what it was in the pre-jodypweis days.
What a puke pile of shit this miserable pussy weis is.
Keep up the pressure boys and girls. If he doesn't leave early at least we can make it difficult for this mutant weis to ever again get employment in law enforcement.
Wherever that man goes for the rest of his days he will be remembered for failing miserably as superintendent of police here.
That doesn't mean that the next supe is going to be any better. Just imagine who might mayor emannual stick in there?
Under mayor emmanual we just might be wistful for the good old days under weis.
You would be better served as a leader...Uh, isn't Weis supposed to be the leader? Is it up to a Sgt. to fix the CPD.
What an arrogant asshole, whoever wrote it.
---not a cop
Buy more cars and/or take them away from people who don't need them. I think the good Sgt. Was doing exactly what you're directing him to do, so instead of being "bitchy" look into getting more cars for the working police. Nuttin' from nuttin' leaves nuttin'....
I worked for Sgt. Eric Winstrom, he is a natural leader with more leadership quality than J whatever they call him these days & O'Keefe, too. A month to respond to a Sgt? I don't even want to know how long it will take to answer a P.O. I will just get an event number.
I would love to see this on the front page of the Suntimes and Tribune instead of the propaganda J-Fled spews to them.
What a mature answer. I don't think J-Fled could run a crew at McDonald's.
Alien ! GTFH J Fled ! Dickhead Fed has no respect for Coppers. Fuck him.
J-FLED what a non-police asshole!
He needs to take his act back to the F.B.I.
Da Pelon
Wow more words of wisdom from the boss! LOL! Maybe they could release some of the "front line" cars used for the elected goofs and gold badge society behind 51st and wentworth! Maybe the fleet at 35th and normal in daleys garage could be pared down! Maybe the city could buy 2,000 new cars! Oh wait they started to buy mom's type of cars ford fusions, that have absolutely no room, and are street versions which mean they will be broken down pos before long! Another day, another failure of the j-fled crew! Lets call "father o'keefe" yep thats the ticket!
Any man using the word cute when not refering to a baby or small child and owns cats and pumps iron and oils his body and is in a marriage just for looks..loves the perverbial Rooster. Im just saying...oh..Im. Lost in Fillmore..& I approve this message.
Civilian J-FLED and Civilian Ted O'Clergy, both supposed leaders of our para-military organization, have any familiarity with the chain of command, nor do their sycophants and minions. Neither belong here and their little circle of idiot sworn and civilians deserve to be shown the door.
Talk about a katty response. Meow! They berate him for not doing a job a Sgt., how is he supposed to get working cars? That's a beaurocratic nightmare....he could spend an entire watch making phone calls and being told "can't help you, not my job or position to do this", etc...In fact, the Cmdr. should be making the calls, pulling the strings, etc., getting working equipment for his/her troops.
As far as the unprofessional response, our Super should not allow these types of responses, it shows a terrible lack of management and communications skills by his underlings and if he actually said that remark, well, we all know how doomed we are.
Pathetic.
What an arrogant, sanctimonious prick. If J-Fled wrote a book on leadership, it would be shorter than an Amish guide to Windows 7.

Sergeant, you are a leader of warriors, take a team of 8 hard chargers and commandeer a few unmarked cars, as many as you need, from the office pukes at 3510 S Michigan.
Hand them a copy of the supe's suggestion and don't forget to let O'Keefe know you appropriated the cars. Warriors need them more than computer jockeys.
Show the supe what warriors can accomplish with a little personal initiative.
Adapt, improvise, overcome.
You hit it right on the head it's the policy group that posts most of the comments and they took offense because one of those take home cars (and gas card) was their taxpayer supplied errand running/WTA event transport/lunch mobile.
ray ray cv is parked in 22 lot go take it back the real police
seriously, he has to go. what a loser. and I'm not even a cop.
to the unpublished:
while we appreciate your feelings toward the sergeant writing to J-Fled, you're missing the point.
the point is J-Fled's response to a legit inquiry, no matter how it was worded. this isn't the manner of a leader in any organization, public or private. it's the hallmark of a dickhead and of the Chicago Machine in general.
I worked at the city for about 10 years and left because of this pervasive attitude. The general rule is: it may be my job but I don't take responsibility for my job so blow you.
If CPD did not employ this attitude Pre-Jody, then you guys are lucky.
I worked for many years in the corporate world and expected that people would have a similar attitude about their jobs---not so---it's a bunch of hooked up slugs. The more hooked up--the worse their performance and attitude. The City is a disgusting place with mostly over-compensated dregs.
need a ride?
call O'K...per jfled
it's the order!
everyone needing a pool, squad, etc. call O'K
of course, mention that the supe related that this was the way to get one.
Leadership is solving problems. The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help or concluded you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.
~Colin Powell
typical fed - "I'm too good to give a substantive answer"
How about the female Sgt in fleet (or whatever they are called now) who had her take home care revoked months ago. Now she shows up to work Opration Safe City and brings a marked car that she "is testing" a new spot light. That's a nice way around the "no take home car policy"
Amazing... Just show the lack of leadership, pride and effort put fourth by our superintendent.
Thanks Sergeant for trying, we know your hands are tied as are ours.
Off topic, but did anybody else see our fearless leader on the Bears sideline in FULL UNIFORM?
Take off our Uniform, you never earned it and you disgrace it.
It's time for the "Knights of the "Blue Templar" to take action!
JAYZUS! What a cock-fisted response!
We look forward to the door knob hitting j-fled dead in his asshole as he flees the angry mob like in the old Frankenstein movies.
Every last peck-sniff in the policy group, crystal ball unit and whoever else willingly doing his bidding, should be snatched up, reduced to career service rank and scattered among the garden spots in A/2 (004 & 005) on 3rd watch specifically so they can sit in traffic on the Ryan and genuflect on the errors of their ways.
J-fled is a big, visually impaired dickhead by virtue of his steriod shrunken sack hanging in his beady, crooked eyes...
Go tongue bathe your cats and leave real adults with real concerns alone.
FWIW... J-fled's response should go viral... Let the world see this alien for what he is. Who is this mofo ANYWAY? How come there is NOTHING out there regarding his early life? What's his back story? His shit must be awfully fucked up if the powers that be scrubbed his history clean. No high school buddies? No past sweethearts? No college room mates? NOBODY TO VOUCH OR STAND UP FOR HIS CHARACTER?
Perhaps because he's a true life long asshole.
This fucker was weaned on a sour pickle...
too big for his britches response. do you know who i am? who are you to talk to me in that manner? hey...at least the sarg earns his spot.
The question asked by Sgt. Winstrom wasn't answered. Do the hard chargers at 35th and Michigan have the same problems getting pool cars? At least the Sgt. has the wear withal to sign his name. Who responded from the "policy" group? Not only is J-Fled surrounded by incompetents but obviously he's also surrounded by like minded cowards.
Sgt. Winstrom worked for my dad a long, long time ago, and I still remember how much my father appreciated his hard work, loyalty, and smarts - and that was when he was just starting out!
I'm sure his education, bot on the street and in the classroom has only made him abetter officer.
I simply cannot believe the nasty attitude of this rep for Weis! Come on! It's a valid question, easy to see as a civilian! His comments should have been at least acknowledged w/some dignity - and a few weeks sooner.
This leader is a disgrace. His team is a waste of space. I pray for all of you officers until that time comes.
Grateful Civilian
Boyz and Girlz, we don't have to do anything but sit back and watch the political process of a mayoral election tear J-Fled to pieces as a campaign issue. It's going to get very ugly and there'll be alot of footprints up and down his back before he gets the message. But hey, I'll enjoy the show.
Winstrom's a class act, and a tremendous sergeant. He has more knowledge, skills and abilities as a law enforcement officer than Weis does in his tiny, hamster-sized dick.
The request was legit, and formed in a courteous and respectful way.
J-Fraud's smarmy response speaks volumes as to what he thinks about the rank & file.
He can't leave soon enough.
Sgt. Winstrom is the shinning example of what a true leader looks like. Sgt. Winstrom before he got a team in 25 worked midnights. Being an Austin Ranger I had the privelege of working with him at various times. He is the type of Sgt. that would race across the border to back up a 99 unit from another district on a traffic stop. I've seen him pull car's appart on stops and run down shit heads. If half of the brass of this department had his balls we'd be in a completely different world right now. He exemplifies the type of officer we need more of. Hopefully when Jfuck leaves we'll see this Sgt. elevated to a position that suits his intelligence and leadership ability.
-Austin Ranger
I don't know if the responses going out are actually J-Fed's or not. But it really doesn't matter: they are going out with his name on it.
Either he he is writing this garbage or he is not properly supervising. Nor is the person reviewing it.
Either way, in a real world business, heads would roll.

I was gonna say the Sgt. should follow the chain-of-command (like that would get you anywhere) - but then J-Fled says to go to the Deputy Superintendent?
Well if it's OK to go to the Deputy Superintendent then why not the Superintendent?
(RING-RING)
--Hello, District Desk.
- hello, my house was just robbed and they stole my stuff.
I need you to send the polices.
Desk Offr: -You would be better served, as a citizen to look at solving the problem yourself rather than summoning me. Pick up the phone, call The superintendent JFLED or the mayor for that matter and see if they can help you. It's your choice that's why you're a taxpayer. Now bugger off. (click)
Furthermore, what would O'Keefe do? Tell JFLED, the twit who ordered all the bulky 2wd Tahoes that wheels fall off and get the worse mpg , that we need automobiles????
President Harry S Truman, "THE BUCK STOPS HERE."
Superintendent Jody P. Weis, "GOTTA RUN."
There are so many people at 35th street with take home cars for no reason at all. All they do is drive to and from work in the company cars and I'm not just talking about bosses. There are a large number of P.O.'s like members of J-Fled's policy group that drive to and from work in company cars. How about the tact LT's that have brand new company cars and all they do is drive to and from work in them while the P.O.'s drive junk responding to 911 calls.
Any Chief Executive, or Department Head who is made aware of a real problem by any subordinate and shoves it off like that or tell them to go through channels deserves to be scorned and bounced.
That would be the same as if a citizen came up to a cop on the street and said they were robbed and the officer told them to go call 9-1-1.
Print that response and send it to everyone in the media who might consider sharing it with the rest of the lost public.
Oddly enough in 003 around 3am we counted 15 cars that were not being used including 10 tahoes. But during the 3rd watch 1st watch change you can't find anything
I am ashamed to be a part of an organization who's leader would rather attack a subordinate than provide an appropriate level of guidance. I suppose you believe that response made the sergeant a better supervisor.
I work in 025, and there were several weeks that 10 guys and a sergeant were sharing 3 cars. No pool unmarked pools available anywhere. The sergeants told the LT, the LT the Commander etc. We never got a car. Next we tried borrowing from Area 5, but they didn't have any to share. Since it's against general order to ride four deep on patrol (I didn't even know that was the case until a call from downtown came in that we couldn't have 4 guys on the same car on the A&As) Winstrom did exactly what Blog 501 wants for us to do-he "shared his perspective." So a Sgt sees a problem, goes through the chain of command, gets no results, as a last effort reaches out to J-Fled just as he's supposed to and he is told he is not a leader. How ironic.
That would be the same as if a citizen came up to a cop on the street and said they were robbed and the officer told them to go call 9-1-1.
9/28/2010 02:38:00 PM
Well, isn't that what JFLED would tell the citizen. That's if the citizen could catch up to him.
Did you really expect a "Real" answer to the problem ?
J-Fled was "Born an Asshole" and Will be one for the rest of his life. He has surrounded himself with Assholes in his ivory tower. Don't expect any real problem solving from the A=Team (Asshole-Team).
They're all working on a running shoe design that Nike will be marketing in the future. They've been named J-Fled Flyers. The marketing slogan will be "For When You Really Gotta Go" !

Cars for the troops are a real problem.
Look at what the Illinois State Police did: Thier new Director ordered all exempts and bosses with new cars to give them up to the troopers in the field so they could have better working vehicles.
Look at the ISP brass, they all have older crown vics. Now thats leadership. This should be done with CPD.
I would post this entry on every public forum...if only I could find it! When I click on the link to Blog 501, I get regular stuff about Wortham's funeral, etc.
Can someone help me locate this asinine comment so I can post it for the world to see??
I will from today forward refer all complains to jodypweis at 3510 s michigan ave. Let him handle it.
Officers please provide the Supts Office Number to every citizen who complains about police response times. Maybe he can tell them to quit whining, be a good citizen and call ??? to get it straightened out, whatver happened to the creed this is under my watch, I sahould help
hey JFLE for the last 2years and
9 months your command staff has been hiding police officers in the office while officers are working one man beat cars
remember you appointed all the district commanders
why did you allow commanders to hide police officers
only district commanders left alone were 4th district strogers ward , 9th district , 1st and 18th districts that's were the $$$$$$ is
explain that to the feds
I can't believe he wrote that. What a totally disrespectful ASSHAT!
There you have J-Fled in a nut shell. Mr. Mayor, you know you are not extending his contract anyway. Do the right thing and let him go now. It won't cost a dime. You have to pay him his exorbitant salary by contract, but promote another from the ranks, then don't replace the guy you promote. We are top heavy anyway.
Get us back on the path to healing this Department. Get rid of this idiot.
Lord throw me a life jacket!!!! Un-fricking real!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come to think of it who took boom boom Ray's sergeant spot on the policy group?
anyone that has ever read his responses knows he is the most out of touch arrogant fuck in the world. He is a PUSSY
Does anyone know the official last day of JFled? WE SHOULD HAVE A PARTY AND DONATE THE MONEY RAISED.

yeah to Cozzi
If a Sgt does not have a car jump in with a P.O. 10-4.
If a P.O. Doesn't have a car then a good leader should take the P.O. Under his wing. 10-4
It all works out
If he went through the ranks he would have known that a Sgt could do nothing about a vehicle shortage. Also, what happened to the chain of command on this job?
Please remember that he was an ass in the FBI and they were glad to see him go. Let's not burn any bridges with the Feds over Jody. There are plenty of good friendly people in the FBI but unfortunatly for us we got the bottom of the barrel running our once great police department.
Just axe Rocky and Bullwinkle at the Crystal Ball Unit and see if the 4-year wonder can cough up some of his 150K salary for some equipment for the working coppers:

Bottom line is....Weis is responsible for the dribble that is supposed to be a professional response. This is awful.
BUT, this is Chicago corruption where clout is king, not the professional world you are dreaming about.
Was at Area Four Garage downing the car again for brakes and a vibration on the front end. NO POOL CARS! While waiting for a ride I observed this Blue Crown Vic with pin stripes, shinning hubcaps, crazy attenas, and blue lights on the grill. I surely thought this was a big boss comming to get some R service. Guess who it was ? Commander? Nope Deputy? Nope Chief? Nope, A civilian employee from Fleet! Yes we have no pool cars and the ones we have are not safe to be on the road, yet this civilian employee is driving a brand new car with all the bells and whistles to come and take photos of vehicles involved in accidents. Go figure

dont worry Rayray is coming to 003 and he still has his take home car from the policy group, maybe he'll let the watch commanders use it when he's on furlough.
In a previous post to the question of who responds to questions on the blog:
"I respond to every one. Sometime I ask folks to research the information for me, and I will paste in their answer. As for follow-up, I have attempted to have my staff research these matters and provide answers, rather than to say I have directed them to address the matter. And, I apologize if my remarks are dismissive; however, sometimes you can only answer questions so many times, and when it is clearly a chain of command matter, I do say that. I have an open door policy, but not a back door policy. Besides, has any other Superintendent provided a forum such as this? JW"
What a stroke. I am a tact sergeant. I ride with my teams often as a 3rd man like Eric but 11 people divided by 3 cars is ridiculous. And since the pressure the supe and chief of staff put on us to keep our numbers up, you would think they would give us the tools to do it. And when they do not you would think they'd have the class to not take it out on a sergeant. How many days of this dueschbag left?

The chain of command , in principal, is still intact. The problem is that there are no leaders in that "chain of command". They are all "pretenders" in a white shirt circle jerk. Nobody with brains & on the job know how is in the chain.
"....I do say that. I have an open door policy, but not a back door policy. Besides, has any other Superintendent provided a forum such as this? JW"

come out of the closet, weis, in this day and age, you don't have to be ashamed of using your back door.
and, you are correct, no other Superintendent has ever 'provided a forum' so full of shit as your wonderful self.
At this rate Tact will be dispanded in 2 years due to lack of cars.
Mr Superintendent , not enough cars for tactical officers
assign the cry bay tactical officers to fill up the 10-99 beat cars on the 1st watch in 13 and other districts
thank you problem solved
1 man beat cars and 3 man tactical units , where's the supervision on cpd , a blind man can see a problem here

smartass.
The response has Karen or Bridget written all over it... Congrats to the Sgt, who I know personally for standing up and asking legitimate questions... The fires of Hell await them all for the harm they caused...
jodi weis, your coup of the police department will soon be coming to an end---- your legacy will consist of nothing substantive and a litany of misteps which you presided over--- you are the poison pill bitch and working coppers laugh at you behind your back because you are a phony--- remember william cozzi and all the guys you fucked while you were here--- you will forget them but they will not forget you--- paybacks are a bitch.....
Its pathetic whats going on what the lack of squads 35th street doesnt seem to have a shortage of squads..
swat doesnt even have new tahoes that work, ours have over 75,000 miles on them and we could sure use new ones
The superintendent must hate anyone with balls. Right, eunuch?
