I saw the list signed by E Brown...didn't look like a regular order. The graduated on the 16th.
So with the Sgts out. Where's the detective class that the Supt. posted on his blog 501 that he wanted to make. Maybe we will see a fifth Sgts. class before a detectives class.
Sgt's list is similar to what you posted and some good assignments for them. graduated a cupla 2 tree days ago ? if you are looking over the w/c's shoulder they have the list and the lieutenants' list also

I seriously doubt that there will be a detectives class. That would simply slow down the measly attempt to swell the ranks of patrolman. There are no rumors of a class anytime soon. We'll just have to do more with less as they say...

I agree. The list is on the Intranet. It really suck that new sergeants get to go to districts on 3rd watch and the old sergeants don't get to bid for any district spots or get chances to get off 1st watch. When we do get to bid, the spots available are always on 1st watch and only in 011 and Area 2 districts. BS!

Yep, they graduated on Thursday and placed in cushy north side districts immediately. O'Brien and Brown stuck it right up the asses of all the hardworking sergeants on the west side and south side paying their dues and trying to get north. Thanks Commander of Management and Labor Affairs and downtown Ernie Brown. Thanks to you two morons you just allowed a sergeant with 8 days in grade to bid and get any inner district opening on the 24th in the districts they were placed in; therefor screwing us next month on any openings on the north side when citywide bids come out. PBPA has no say so in the matter but the downtown commonly has a citywide bid prior to a new class, out of respect, but not this time. Class acts, those two!

He's done a fantastic job down at the Academy for years. And you know what else? All of the Sgts. were allowed to put their picks on a sheet of paper, and if they were lucky, some got their pick. How many of the OTHER Sgts. in the class chose 007? I salute Snelling, he's got bigger balls than just about every copper I know. Go get 'em Larry, and continue to do a good job. God knows the Englewood Rangers need a Sgt who can be a leader AND a role model.
We all know that no one can say that about their asshole superclouted Cmdr!

That is impossible. Either 16 or 14 years. Classes in 94 and 96. By the way 024 is the busiest district north of belmont.

Snelling might be a great guy that is dedicated, but, he worked at the academy, had days with weekends off, which means he was not in court and could study his ass off at work and in the evening, no less, and had all the study material available to him that one could handle, and he still needed to be made meritcloutorious!? What the f**k?
Plus, he should not have been merited before hundreds of others that do not have days with weekends off, that aggressively work the street and produce tour after tour, that put up with the bullshit on the street and within the organization, and see a true weekend once every now and again, some of which were ahead of Snelling on the "real" list.
Fuck him. You want to have a chance to be merited? Then work the street and produce. You want to teach and hide with a nice schedule, then you've taken yourself out of the game. Fuck you and Snelling. And Brown. And Carothers.

It's NOT in the PBPA Sgts contract.
The city has discretion on weather they want to open up spots when a new Sgts class is made.
Since the city, the department or the Mayor don't know if they are going to shut down CAPS they don't really know if they are going to free up 25 to 50+ current sergeants which are tied up in CAPS now.
When we do get to bid, the spots available are always on 1st watch and only in 011 and Area 2 districts. BS!

Read your PBPA Sgts contract and you'll know why.
FIRST, the bids are open in the district; INTRA-DISTRICT first.
THEN, the following period if no one from the district were the vacancy takes the bid spot, the department will then open the bid up to CITYWIDE BID.
For instance if a bid on 2nd watch opens up anywhere you can bet that someone from within the district will grab that spot BEFORE it can go to citywide bid.
If their is an Intra-District opening in any good district (016, 017 etc.) even on 1st watch, someone from that district will more than likely take the spot.
ALSO, the city does not have to open up a bid spot unless their are at least 2 bid openings in a district / watch. ie: 016 has a bid spot open on 1st watch, the city does not have to open it up to bid. If there is 2 opening they have to. SO, to say they least it is very unlikely anyone will vacate a decent district like 016.

There are 88 Sgts left from the class of 01 Apr 1996. Out of that there is 1 in 004, 1 in 008, 2 in 009, 1 in 010, and 1 in 011. If one of them wanted out they could have bid out years ago.

What is unit 549? Thought everyone went to patrol, not patrol and then detailed back to the special unit you came from
wonder if there is a contract violation here. Shouldn't the current sergeants get to bid on openings first, then the new sgts. go to whatever is open?
OR is it that some of the poor new sgts. don't want to go to the bad districts and put there time in on 1st watch in 003, 011, etc.?
I am sure it is all very legitimate.

The wonderful Sgt. Assoc. doesn't have anything in their contract addressing the appointments of new Sgts. Too bad for the "experience" ones that get to stay in 007, 004, 003 on midnites & lead the "Real Police"!!! Nobody told you that this job is legit. You guys got what you desreved!!!!!!!!!!!
Ask any recruit that has ever had snelling and i guarantee you that he is respected if not admired by all.
Why don't you try teaching the use of force to corporation counsel, command staff, and disgruntled/know it all police officers before you challenge his promotion?
you wouldn't want his job even if you had weekends off and on days.
Pretty dumb arguements over who is the real police and who is not and which district is tougher and who is assigned to the 2nd watch etc. Life is just not always fair. Things have always been this way and I do not see it changing anytime soon. Your wasting energy!!

He ended up in 15 third watch...what is your point? Goldsmith has never been the type of guy to expect special treatment. Someone finally noticed his talent and he is damned by association.
