Return to Owner?
Authorities this past weekend arrested 249 people, took 24 parolees into custody and seized 22 guns as part of a joint law enforcement crackdown that Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis said would send a clear message to criminals.
The sweeps were the third leg of "Operation Return To Owner," a plan that saturates high-crime areas with law enforcement and city inspection teams aimed at targeting criminals, along with the derelict businesses and slums that attracts them. The suppression strategy aims at lowering violence by putting a finer law enforcement focus on areas plagued by gang violence and drugs.
Wait a second....a "joint operation?" Who with?
- The police's gang enforcement, tactical officers and rapid response and gun teams were joined by officers from Illinois State police, sheriff's, state's attorney's offices, as well as state corrections and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
And whom are we returning the streets to? Squanto? The only message we're seeing is that Chicago Police can't follow up on any meaningful crackdowns without a massive infusion of officers from any number of outside agencies. Same thing for the Buildings and Licensing divisions of Chicago.

You ARE in a mood tonight...(grin)
Wow, the desperation for good press for the superintendent is palpable.
Hey, good. With things the way they are, we'll take it any way we can get it. Feds there with their want lists, IDOC packing half a bus full of parole violators, and the city inspectors closing down Clarita's All-Night Day Spa. Whee!
They were also digging a lot of active criminal warrants out of nursing homes today. Illinois is just indecent, housing violent parolees and sex perverts with the terrified elderly.
I'm working on my own joint venture with me and my tv, "Operation Who Gives a Fuck".
We are a joke! not even a shadow of our former selves
And there were STILL 10 shootings over night.
Yeah, Weis has a real "handle" on crime.
..............or we could be allowed to do that enforcement all along. You know, like a fully staffed Department would. Now, what a city that would be! Real law and order, not just some random show enforcement.
Wow, unbelievably awesome.
Truth of the matter is no matter how many times x and y get locked up...they come right back out.
Why? Because prison is over populated. For a bust out, going to prison is like going on a retreat.
These missions, raids, whatever you want to call them is just a temporary band-aide. These bustouts look foward to getting locked up and spending "quality time to themselves."
Why does eating a bologna sandwich, drinking water and sleeping on a cot sound inhumane?
On another note....can we get a "only 1 child law" pass for those on public aid. I'm tired of supporting these families and their endless offspring who end up to be the future criminals of our country.......wishful thinking.
Well SCC we are so very short,we need every agency to help us out! WTF! Hey boss put all coppers back in districts, have the elusive d-unit in uniform driving marked cars that way you would be able to keep tabs on them!
Does the city ever try to find and return weapons to their rightful owners? You know, the ones which were stolen and end up in gangbanger hands?
Sound like a combination of the old Edge missions and Windy City sweeps. Missions that have been going on since the 90's.
"And whom are we returning the streets to? Squanto?"

Scc, that's hilarious!
.....regardless of whatever agency, this type of enforcement should be done EVERYDAY. Until the savages learn.
Wow....I suppose nobody will do the math, but could this be taken that we might be shorthanded???
Naw.....it just a figment of our imagination.....
..The Great Oz has spoken..
NOTHING NEW HERE!
We have been doing this for the 20 years I have been on the Department. Always with the cooperation of the Parole Agents and the IGs office.
NOTHING NEW HERE J-FED. Don't hurt your arm patting your self on the back...
My team was told to work in the 005th District on this Operation "Return to Owner"! I suppose we're giving Roseland back to the Dutch, I did my part with a 1.0 gram weed pinch.
Squanto...F'n hilarious. I haven't heard that name since the 70's.
And this is supposed to be seen as a success of our leadership? Stories like this are a confirmation of failure. What took them so long?
Yep Nothing new. It is new to people who have no clue or are not the police. lets see Chief Marer had is Clean slates, and spring cleans and anything else you could think of. someone down there must have found the lost play book. Next up will be reinventing Joe McCarty's flying squads, oh wait isnt that MSF. Nothing new here but the names. Stealing credit again Jodie?.. you are simply useless.. The late night janitor on the 5th floor of 35th street knows more about police work than you Jodie..
On another note....can we get a "only 1 child law" pass for those on public aid. I'm tired of supporting these families and their endless offspring who end up to be the future criminals of our country.......wishful thinking.
That would be a dream come true. Could you imagine the savings? We're talking about LINK, medicare, trips to the zoo, FEMA handouts, all the other BS handouts that these leaches are so adept at getting their grubby hands on.
The criminal justice system could possibly run the way it's intended. CPS might have a chance at educating, the police wouldn't be bogged down with bs domestics where baby momma and baby daddy are using their byproducts as collateral in their f'd up relationships.
If you can't support yourself, then you can't support a child, its pretty damn simple.
I'd even be willing to pay every male $1,000 to get a voluntary irreversible vasectomy. The fewer apples that fall from these rotting trees the better.
-west side p.o.
the great thing about this operation is that J-Fled admits that the streets dont belong to the citizens. Now we only need him to come up with a plan, a real one, to actually return them to the citizens. Hurry Jody, you only have until 1 MAR 11. Here is a hint, your current gaggle of politicaly astute and inneffective "leaders" will give you ideas and they all will fail. Get rid of the policy group and get some street coppers from the gladiator districts and maybe you will have a chance.

"Hey boss... have the elusive d-unit in uniform driving marked cars that way you would be able to keep tabs on them!"
My reply to the poster is Fuck You! If you're looking for me I'm working extensions on my tour or I am at court and logging about 90-120 hrs a period in cash. If your wondering rookie that a pinch over $4,000 in O.T. a month.
Also, before anyone starts being haters let me say I hope every copper who wants the spot in the D-unit gets it and makes just as much OT as me (and I'm not even in the top 10%). There are plenty of murders and agg batts for everybody to make money!
BTW, a Detective class will be starting very soon. The "detective teachers" from the area have already been notified so if you're close we're looking forward to seeing you guys in the areas!
Same thing all District Tact Teams used to do by themselves decades ago....
I/F
"third leg"????
You should see how they do these operations in New York. They not only come out men with guns, they send out all the licensing agencies too, store by store looking for infractions, illegal merchanting, tax stamps etc. Good way gather intel and to cut down cash going back to Hamas. Mission impossible here, could you imagine.. "I bought a table at the alderman's fundraiser" now get out of here...
Giving Roseland back to the "Dutch" was classic. Thanks for the good laugh.
Another re-active policing strategy by unqualified white shirts.

THIS administration?
You gotta be kidding.
They won't even put up any gun registration information on the city's web site. It's like it doesn't exist...and try walking into a police station to get forms.
D-Unit has GPS, please tell how we are goofing off. dickhead
"joint operation"---
isn't that the process to make a blunt?
