Lame Duck J-Fled
Rumble is Chicago PoliceSupt. Jody Weis, whose improbable retention has become a mayoral election issue, is looking at his next career move.
The upshot: Sneed hears he'll stay put until his contract is up, on March 1. Then, adios.
Without question, the worst superintendent in living memory. And that's saying something.
Quit & Cut: Sneed hears approximately 65 police officers, fed up with the Weis regime -- and/or cashing in on free health benefits -- retired recently.
Only 65? Call it over 100 Sneed. You'd be closer. And the "free" benefits aren't free - they're earned. Did Jackie Heard write this one for you?
- Cut 'em: Sneed is also told approximately 37 civilian employees of the Police Department were laid off last week.
So figure that's 37 more spots that will be filled by sworn officers pulled off the streets. At double the pay. Brilliant.

I worked CHAPD when PO Ceriale was murdered. CPD had the area around the building blanketed. The dope boys couldn't make any money. JFled thinks he can do this now? We don't have the manpower and you don't have our backs.
OFF-TOPIC
"HARPER WOODS, Mich. – A dispute between two rival groups of teenagers escalated into gunfire Saturday when members of one of the groups opened fire inside a shopping mall..."

"rival groups", huh? Like the high school debate team and the chess club?
Didn't he get a one month extension on his contract from Shortshanks?
I have one good thing to say about Jody Weis.
Are you waiting?
He makes Phil Cline look good.
I hated Cline, yet I'd rather his crony laden, cheesy stash, Old Country Buffet abusing self be Superintendent than Weis.
I hope the next Mayor brings in a Bratton or a Timoney because the potential replacements in this department almost universally suck.
The next Supe will not be Bratton or Timoney.
It will be Tina Skahill, however, she and Fire Comm. Hoff will answer to the new Director of Public Safety. You guys figure out who that will be.
They are going to move CFD into 35th St.

Be careful what you wish for, talk to people that have worked for either of those guys before you open your yap!
J Fleds 1st day was 1 Feb 2008, so he should finish his 3 years 31 Jan 2011?

He started in February, (I think the 1st) so if there was an extension it was until the end of the month.
Its bash the police lately. They don't deserve the pension, they don't need manpower, equipment, cut cut cut.
OK idiots. Who you going to call when you need help? Dial 911 and be told "the police are enroute, will be there as soon as we can"
Ever wait in an emergency for the police? I have -5 minutes seems forever.

I really don't understand the Cline haters. Yes, he promoted people he knew, some were not popular. However, they were absolute Rock Stars compared to the current crop of meritorious fools running this Department.
Seems like a lot of the haters came from the long term teams in Narcotics which Cline all but did away with. Wonder why they were so bitter. $$$$
If those laid off worked in records, they should have been laid off for incompetence.
The night Mike was shot, CHAPD helped us out by knocking on EVERY DOOR in the buildings there, and if no one answered, the door got knocked down... the offenders were in custody withing 15 minutes of that shooting, I think the ambulance had just arrived, when the officer were walking the offender to the wagon.... it did seem like it took a long time for that ambulance to get there tho...
Never Forget You Mike...

Ellen schmitz will be named much to the chagrine of the barmaid B.
Jody followed Bratton's book...check it out Fed plus Fed
Both Bratton and Timoney have both retired. Bratton is heading up a new worldwide security group, and I have no idea what Timoney is doing since the new Mayor of Miami forced him out after he was elected. But I doubt even Timoney would be willing to come here to Chiraq
and take the reins from Fled. No, my friend, I don't see any serious leadership being imported here to the CPD in the near future. First, the City wouldn't be able to afford the salary that Weis recieved (not that he earned it), and second, many of the outside candidates for the job Weis got have had an eyeful of the nonsense that goes on here in Shitcago, and I don't see anyone risking their finances to move here and suddenly be forced to leave due to the enormous political baggage that comes with such a high profile job here. I believe someone will be selected from within the ranks, and I believe EB is likely the frontrunner, whether that is a good thing or not will be judged in the near future.
I think the best Suerintendent I worked for was Terry Hillard. Let's face it they all have their quirks, but this one is the worst.
most supt only do one term. hillard, rodriguez and cline only did the one term... why making news out of nothing? hes gone, bring on the next nit wit to lead this sinking ship
The 4-2 is good, carbines are real good. Other than that, uh, not much. I just expect the carbines to go when the next boss gets in. We can't be armed like real police.

That is one very good reason, because following big time dope dealers is not that important??? How about that he allowed certain family members to see what G.O. and relevant testing materials on the Sgt and Lt. exam. Must have been nice to be in 011 with kid Cline and crew.

THEY ARE ALREADY THERE PAL ON THE 3RD FLOOR

Ellen or Leo stay the fuk off this blog!
She is in so far above her head now, can't wait for her to be gone!
Time for another tool to re-arrange the chairs on the CPD Titanic.
Sneed is a hack, a hag and a hater but she did dial j-fled's number on this one... with shorty's permission of course.

Hey asswipe, here's a newsflash. The civilian and sworn people in records are supervised by a gaggle of sergeants and they even have two lieutenants, so you can lay the incompetence squarely at the feet of sworn white-shirts. Oh, btw, blow me!
Jody will be here until the summer , Mayor will be gone in may and new mayor will keep him on until he decides on a new supt
remember crime is down
he's doing more with less
You need a guy like former NYPD #2 Gary McCarthy...Quote :" You will find me in Squad cars, with Officers." They have him working for some City in NJ now, find a guy like that for Shitcago.

How about Bill Kushner, now Chief in Berwyn?

Signed, Terry Hillard and his two kids that he got police jobs for.
What makes you so sure Hoff will remain the Fire Commissioner under a new mayor? Tina Skahill as Sup. Now there's a really scary thought.
