Light Posting

We're doing the traditional post-turkey snore-fest and hitting the Black Friday sales extravaganzas. Posting will be light today unless something demands out attention. We hope everyone had a pleasant holiday.

SCC your title "Light Posting" just reminded me Thanksgiving is over and it's time to go outside over the weekend and post Christmas Lights. I should have done it when it was warm.

.....what's going on with any monetary compensation for the officers unfairly put in the Behaviorial Program? The officers were given an apology and then told by the FOP to sign a paper deemed a legal document by the FOP attorneys to agree to the conditions met by the City of Chicago. Trouble is, is that the 600 plus officers wouldn't sign the legal document because they knew better NOT to agree to such a ridiculous piece of paper that let the City of Chicago off the hook. The FOP is failing to do anything. Numerous officers have complained and have yet to see a grievance filed for monetary compensation by the FOP. What is going on?

FORGET about Black Friday and spending on garbage that you really don't need!

$16,500 a year . . . .

That is the maximum amount we can place into our deferred comp plan.

$687.50 a pay check - - - TAX FREE.

Today is the day to call Nationwide and state that you want the maximum amount taken out of your check starting January 1st 2011.
29 years goes by in the blink of an eye.

BUST YOUR ASS to make up the difference if it is hard for you. Go to court. Work a side job. Learn to do without;
Scale back on the vacation.
Screw the big fancy car you really don't need.

Eat out at restaurants less.

Tear up all those damn credit cards.

FUCK catholic school tuitions. (May those rotten bastards burn in hell)

I have a large mortgage. (I also throw an extra couple hundred on the mortgage)
My wife doesn’t work.
All my kids are in honors programs in PUBLIC schools in a decent area.

FUCK making other people rich.. take care of yourself.

First, wishes for speedy recoveries for the coppers injured last night-

Second, thanks to SCC for an annual Thanksgiving Day of humor and updates.

Third, I've done my Black Friday shopping over the internet. Saw the news reports of rowdy customers and how nicely they were treating eachother.

What is going on with the PDTs?

Tey stop sending or receiving or "lose contact with CAD" and then we are told to reboot.

With the advent of AIRA we need them now more than ever and they aren't working much of the time.

There is no call for this kind of insult. I'm a Lutheran and find your comment to be uncalled for. The Catholics have done so many charitable acts for society that you should be ashamed of yourself.

Buddy, I'm with you. I called and called and called and the FOP thinks it can come up with more excuses than you can shake a stick at. This is the most unfair issue you can think of happening yet. And all those FOP reps in the southside districts are no better at helping either. It makes me mad to think I am paying these union dues and not a thing is being done. And another officer was shot today and I am still working and sticking my head out there for the department and I am shit upon. I told my loved ones if anything happens to me, sue and sue and then go on 60 minutes or dateline and any other media programs and expose this bullshit.

Deferred comp advice some of the best you will get on this job. I have been contributing for the last 25 years and it makes retirement much less scary financially.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

this is straight up GREAT advice. With today's rates, if you have 300G in there you can take out about a grand a month without touching the principal. If needed. Having it there made my decision to retire a lot easier. As raises come, put them in, you won't miss it. Even you younger people, put in as much as you can, it will have a longer time to grow. Retirement will be here before you know it, believe me.

Stay safe everybody

Started deferred in 1983 when it started. Maxed out from day one until I retired a few years ago. Was retirement money so I took no chances on the market and kept it in fixed. Over 500,000 now and with the current rate of almost 4% I make close to $20,000 a year. As with most retirees, the first few years you take home more money than when you were working, not having to pay state tax on your pension, your pension and the maxed out deferred you were putting in Already 3 years into retirementand in 5 more years will be over $600,000 Was the greatest thing that happened to the CPD in I think 1983, bosses got in a year before
