Offender Dead, Cops OK
Police say a man was shot and killed after he tried to disarm an officer during a traffic stop in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
A witness said the 23-year-old man was among a group of about a half-dozen people who tried to attack officers who had pulled over their van.
- Of her brother, she said: "He might have sold drugs, true enough. He was jailed a couple of times, but just for marijuana. But he would never carry a gun, never hassle with the police."
She said witnesses told her that her brother got out the driver's side door of the van "and they just shot him -- twice. Why'd they have to shoot him twice?
Of course he would never carry a gun. Why carry a gun when you can try to take one from an officer? But she has no problem admitting he was a dope dealer.

A little hint, these papers get paid by how many hits they get. So even if you're going on to complain they win. If they don't get hits the articles won't be that big of a deal. If you're curious to what the article says we can put the template up here and you can insert the name.
If the officer has his gun out because there are multiple subjects in a car, van, mini van, truck, limo, etc... and they run towards you: 1. They won't stop running towards you despite you have your gun out. 2. You are justified in shooting them. 3. Because multiple offenders can easily disarm you. 4. Even if you are Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee or Bruce Willis.
This is an excellent example in which the officer decided he would squeeze the trigger and not double guess himself. In your heart if you feel justified, then do it. Squeeze the trigger. Too often the officer won't squeeze the trigger (because we are not animals like them) and ends up paying the ultimate sacrifice.
I work in 025 and this summer, we had several times in which people did that shit to us; run right at us full speed while we still had our gun pointed, refused to show us their hands and the subject matched the description of a person with a gun call at North & Lamon. A subject at Division & Karlov broke into a van and was chased and when cornered, had both hands in his waistband and didn't show his hands.
It's getting crazy out there folks. Be safe and if you have the day off, enjoy it with your family on Turkey Day. Because family is what it's all about.

A bunch of us from 010 had to respond to mt. sinai when, naturally, a bunch of the dead shitbird's family and thug friends started raising hell. We quickly quelled the situation, and the came the show. Dead guy's baby mama screaming at the top of her lungs "why lawd, why did they kill my baby daddy! He wasn't even that bad a guy, yeah he sold some drugs" etc etc.
Pretty comical. A few of us were smirking when baby mama's friend says " girl stop, theys laughin at chu, we gon do it right and sue they asses".

One was this fat looking liberal puss who kept walking back and forth eating the free food the FOP brought in for the officers. The other looked like he only ate lettuce, I'm sure he drives a prius as well. One of them approached an officer in the hallway and tried asking questions. The officer looked at him, smiled, shook his head and walked away. That would be my advice whenever one of these assholes wants to talk to you.

Shot twice cause once wasn't enough.
I only have seven years and have not had to fire my weapon. I only pray that when the time comes I can act as bravely as this fine officer. I can't imagine what a tough decision you had to make, but obviously you made the right choice.

This is the exact kind of situation where liberal citizens and scumbag lawyers try to brainwash right minded people in to allowing the animal to act first and put the onus on the impending victim to evaluate the "matrix" scenario in Kneau Reeves speed and thus calculate the bare minimum necessary to neutralize the threat.
It's also akin to when the gov't told air passengers to not engage the hijacker, stay in your seats, it is just a hijacking. We know what that led to and we know now that fighiting back saves lives.

If cops could determine in nanoseconds just what level of force could stop someone rushing them, they would probably have the capability of farting $100 bills and/or picking winning lotto numbers and would not likely be cops to begin with.
It his my sincere hope happy endings like this story increase and that the predator, criminal element begin to think twice about agressively invading the space of people minding their own business or cops doing their job.
The act of exiting the vehicle, at all, or in mass, in and of itself, in my mind gives, gave the officer the right to fear for his life and shoot to kill (is there any other way unless you're a crack shot like Wild Bill Hickcock or Annie Oakley?).
As previously posted, had the officer hesitated one second he could very well have been another dead cop.
Someone running at you under the influence or pumped with adrenaline can make up 5,10,15,30 ft. of distance in the blink of an eye. At the point these model citizens rushed out of the van, the cop has to assume he is under life threatening attack. Same with a cornered citizen.
SCC pointed out how the media made it there busines to point out how that Rodriguez guy who shot his wife was once a cop for about a decade, a hell of a long time ago (albiet in the article, they made it imposibke to acertain the guy hadn't been a cop for years).
In this case, the media completely ignores the rap sheet of this future POTUS.
I'm curious, at what point in our history did lawyers pervert the legal system to the extream where a persons body of work legal or otherwise could be ignored and thus allow a chronic, shitbird troublemaker to stand as squeeky clean as the law abiding citizen who works, pays their taxes and contributes to their community and society?
Something tells me this perversion is something that has evolved since the mid sixties ( since the ascent of liberalism).
Can any retired, old bull copppers give an insight in what was admissable in court in the 40's and 50's, opposed to what is allowed to be heard today?

To the posters about IPRA taking the food provided by the FOP for THE COPPERS, you must remember that liberals are the biggests takers that there is. It is in their mindset.
Studies show that Republicans donate more money to charities than lefties or Democrats--proven fact.
So IPRA investigators, being the liberal, hate the police assholes they are, just feel that the food is theirs for the taking.
On the west and south sides every stop is a felony stop.
The days of knocking down 20 cars a night are gone forever. Doing this will only get numerous complaints that will put your livelihood at risk.
Take your time on the stops you do decide to do. Make these drivers get out and walk back to you and your partner. Don't split yourselves up on each side of the car when securing the driver.
It takes at least four coppers to watch and secure a van full of shitheads. Remember, you are in control of a traffic stop. You decide when and where. You can wait until backup is there before making the stop.
These coppers put themselves at a tactical disadvantage. Thankfully they survived.

And I am getting an education reading comments about IPRA. I wonder why any of you would give them the time of day? The cretins who are IPRA should never be spoken to and if you are forced to, you control it. It would seem to me you should have a lawyer present and a transcription of the proceedings for your review. You work for an employer under an adversarial relationship. The city will hang you out to dry if it suits there desire. You should make sure that you put up every road block possible when in particular IPRA people are acting like some kind of players.
