Now Start Squeezing

  • A reputed gang member once charged with killing an off-duty Chicago police officer was slapped with federal charges today as part of a two-year investigation into a West Side drug operation.

  • Sources said members of the gang were taken to FBI headquarters and other locations and likely would be questioned about the slayings of Soto and Kathryn Romberg, a supervisor for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Soto and Romberg were fatally shot as they sat in an SUV outside Romberg's West Side home.
Hopefully, we'll be able to chalk this one up as "solved" shortly.

I love how the lawyers put the spin on the illegal conduct, like we're all a bunch of fucking morons.

Serritella's lawyer, Thomas Breen, said he believes the recordings were legal, but his reasoning won't likely be printed on any brochures for the Medill School of Journalism.

"It was an exceptional, very dangerous mission these students were on," Breen said.

That "dangerous mission" troubles media ethicists.

State's Attorney Celeste Stack said it was unlikely criminal charges would be filed over the recording, because the statute of limitations has passed.

Yea real good call you dip shit, since when doesthe State's Attorney's Officegive a shit about the statute of limitations you use it all the time against the police,Mike Golden just did on Monday.

How about the statute of limitations starts when the knowledge of the crime occurs and since the SAO didn't knowabout the illegal recordings until recently I gues you spineless weasels have 3 years.

Now go do your fucking job!!!!!!!

Start squeezing? Should have been squeezing a long time ago. Mention of the TVL's and how the gang does this and that but check into the area in the Calumet District. A certain heroin dealer who has ties to the west side has been flourishing with all the power and glory for years. For years. Maybe that person is the one you want to talk too. Otherwise just start squeezing oranges for your breakfast orange juice. Because that's all you're gonna get.

In yesterdays City Council meeting it was said that "ALL" city departments have been cut and they have been able to maintain a level of productivity close to that of when they were at higher staffing levels.

Gone are the days of a full budgeted staffing levels.

Cases don't get better over time.

Grabbing all these shitheads without a murder arrest is a bad sign.

Yeah thats fine, start squeezing later rather than sooner. But this being publicized means that weis is continuing to be desperate for success stories and that the investigative strategies that they have been doing for two years didn't work. Which is okay, it happens. But if it wasn't for Weis, this case would have been solved back then.

I work in Homan Square. I just want to say it actually made me feel good watching all of the police drive into the bay again and again unloading POS gangbangers. I'm sure there will be plenty of the "what good did it do comments" but personally it made me a little proud of my job. I was not part of the round up but I told a few of the officers how I felt. You guys did a great job that day. Take care guys and stay safe......

I used to work at Homan Square. I know how much work goes into this type of investigation. To Sgt O'Shea and his team, I say dam good job! Same to the feds involved. If it leads to the conviction of the motherfucker who killed a brother officer, I don't give a damn who played what part. Just get this bastard locked up!

Great job on this, Team D2! The Feds will take all the glory and headlines, but those on the case know that Sgt. O'Shea's team did all the heavy lifting for the FBI. Great work by all the OCD Narcotics and Gang Enforcement Teams who worked the roundup.

Homan Square? I remember being contacted by a team there who got surveillance film of 011 district copper protecting a dope house on the west side in 015. Seems they had this copper on film many times in uniform on duty in an 011 district beat car and absolutely nothing was ever done about it. Wonder how many of CPD's finest were caught up in this big federal case? Bet if there were any protecting the TV's you'll never see them get indicted and nothing will ever be done. Same old shit just a different day.
