- Squaring off against Chicago’s top federal prosecutor and victims’ families, U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez is helping push parole for a one-time leader of a violent Puerto Rican separatist group responsible for 120 bombings nationally that killed five people.
Gutierrez (D-Ill.) believes Oscar Lopez Rivera, who headed the Chicago wing of the FALN, should be released from a federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind., after serving 29 years for seditious conspiracy, armed robbery and twice scheming to escape prison.
The group simultaneously took over the Chicago presidential campaign offices of Jimmy Carter in 1980 and the New York campaign offices of Republican George Bush, holding campaign workers at gunpoint while ransacking the offices and stealing supporter lists.
Lopez Rivera, who oversaw the takeover of the Carter office, also directed the placement of five bombs in the Loop and suburbs in late 1979 and oversaw the 1980 armed takeover of an Oak Creek, Wis., National Guard armory.

Years ago when Little Luis was first running for alderman, we had a 24/7 detail guarding his house. Only thing was, he didn't live there. The house was being rehabbed. One night I'm parked there, the street deputy came by, I told him and he said it didn't matter, we had to have a car in front of the house at all times. That detail lasted many weeks.. I'm not Puerto Rican but my wife is. I've been to PR many times, stayed with family all over the island, not in resorts. Believe me, if it weren't for all the money the US gov't pumps into that economy, PR would be just another third world shithole. They're lucky they got Tio Sam.

As a private citizen, Luis has always made me sick to my stomach. This FALN stuff pisses me off. Gutierrez actually has been working the PRB to spring Ronnie Carrasquillo from prison. Louis decided Ronnie has served enough time for killing CPD Terry Loftus in October 1976 as I recall. Maldanado is another one working the Board. Can someone explain to me why these two and there are others would work to spring Carrasquillo? I mean why do they and others want this ass clown out of prison? You should check out his photo at IDOC inmate search. I'd like to knock that shit eating smile off his face. Thanks Det. Figueroa for you efforts too! By the way, for as much as you all bash Jody here, I did read a very nice letter he (I assume) penned and signed to the PRB against the Carrasquillo parole. It was well done. And thank you PRB for voting to keep Ronnie in prison for another period. He would contribute nothing good on the streets of the Chicago were he to be paroled.
