The Real Chicago Way

Does anyone else get the feeling that J-Fled is like the last guest at a party, the lights are out, the food & drinks are gone, and the host is yawning and looking at his watch?
  • Mayor Richard Daley today said he expected police Superintendent Jody Weis to stay in his post through the end of Daley's term, even though Weis' contract expires tomorrow.

  • But Daley, speaking at a press conference to promote national gun-regulation efforts, also said he has yet to ask Weis to stay until the new mayor takes the helm.

Weis, who usually speaks at such press conferences, was not on hand, but when asked if there was a reason for that, Daley responded, "No." Weis spokeswoman, Lt. Maureen Biggane, said she did not know why Weis wasn't there but it was possible he had another commitment.

Over the weekend, Weis said the mayor had yet to ask him to stay on through the end of his term.

So Shortshanks wants him to stay, but hasn't asked him? The day before his contract expires? And the lieutenant in charge of media affairs has no fucking idea why J-Fled doesn't show up at a press conference that deals specifically with gun issues?

Surely Rahm has some insight?
  • Over the weekend, Weis said he had not yet spoken with Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, who during the campaign said he would replace Weis.

“My contract runs (out) on March the first, so we probably could just leave it at that,” Weis told reporters at a Sunday news conference on another topic.

Rahm hasn't called and neither has Daley. It seems obvious no one wants him to stay, but no one wants to be the one to tell him he's not needed anymore. And J-Fled is still ignorant as to how Chicago operates. Here's a clue:
  1. Overpaid, morale-killing Superintendent;
  2. Bus;
  3. Some assembly required
The Department will go on regardless - there are mechanisms in place to operate without a Superintendent. Any bets on whether J-Fled's name disappears from the A&A's for Unit 111 or he gets put into a "no-pay" status this morning? Or will we see a last-minute reprieve?

OT:
Regarding the pensions, i was doing some thinking and why not have the percentage you pay in from your check increased as you increase in rank?
Just an idea.
As PO's we pay approx 9%.
Well i know since sgt's make more they pay 9% on a higher pay, but how about starting by raising their contributions to 10%?
And another % as you go up the chain.
I was looking at the amount of "upper echelon" bosses in this department and it is utterly staggering. There are so many of them and who knows what the heck they are doing except getting ready to retire and rape our pension fund.
They're only putting in 9% but are taking out a hell of a lot more than us blue shirts and more than the 9% on the higher pay would cover.
Shouldn't your input percentage be more proportionate to the amount you're drawing out?
Just an idea. Any thoughts?

For instance:
PO contributes $73,000*9%=6570
deputy approx $130,000*9%=11700

PO receives 73000*.75=$54,750
deputy 130000*.75=$97,500

So the deputy is putting in an extra $5,130 a year but is taking out $42,750 more each year when he retires than a PO.
This is not right.

I'd like to extend my sincerest appreciation to the 008th District third watch, specifically Bts. 811 & 812 (there was an additional unit present, but the beat escapes me at the moment - please accept my apologies) who responded to my wife's 911 call when I encountered the jagoff in my garage mid-burglary this afternoon (Monday) .

Your response time was stellar, and the investigation from preliminary officers, to E.T. (Bt. 5813?), to the investigating RBT detective was handled just as it should have been. Especially cool was hearing Hauser say "... we need to all look out for one other." It was reassuring to see that the camaraderie I've experienced throughout my time on the job is alive and well here in 008.

And a big "Thank You" to Cmdr. "Kup" (we miss Bosses of your caliber in 011, John!) for allowing these coppers to practice and maintain beat integrity in an area that had been somewhat neglected in the past. This incident had the potential to get real ugly, real fast - especially had my wife been the one to enter the garage first - but the guys & gals from 008 arrived before the jagoff had any thoughts of an improvised "Plan-B" and anything escalated.

These officers need to be recognized and praised for a job well done...THANK YOU!!!!

Saw this on another post in regards to the edgewater murders/police shooting... sounds legit but anyone know if its true?? If so youve got to love the fkn system we live. These Lawyers will do anything to make money.. here is the post from the "tracking the killers" thread a few days ago:

This needs to be a headline post SCC. have you heard this little story Yet? Just heard that one of the scumbag lawyers are putting the lawsuit together on this one. But this is where it takes a turn... The bad guy who was shot and killed by the police is NOT the one suing, but the family of the original guys who were killed in the apartment. The family is upset because the officers knew that these guys were killers and were following them and just allowed them to continue to go to this "drug deal". They are contending that the police should have arrested them or stopped and checked them out prior to the deal thus the murders may not have ever happened and the family members would still be alive. They are pretty much claiming that officers who were following and watching them knew that there was a drug deal and that they were killers who have made fake deals before and killed the victims but still allowed them to move around freely without even being stopped for investigation. Im not sure which law firm it is yet but im sure we will know when its filed... This is absolutely pathetic and these scumbag lawyers will do anything to make money. Im about 99.99 percent sure that if this is true the city is a guaranteed winner on this one in a motion or at trial. I hope they get nothing and the officers did a fantastic job all around!

Gunman shoots deputy in La. sheriff's office
After 52-year-old John Futrell started shooting, deputies in the building returned fire
COLFAX, La. — A man armed with an assault rifle, handgun and a knife walked into a small central Louisiana sheriff's office on Monday afternoon, took a hostage and wounded a deputy before being shot, state police said.

The gunman, identified as 52-year-old John Futrell of Colfax, and the deputy, whose name was not released, were in the hospital, state police Trooper Scott Moreau said in a news release. Futrell is listed in critical but stable condition and the deputy was just listed as stable, state police said.

Futrell had the weapons plus extra magazines and ammunition for each firearm when he walked into the Grant Parish Sheriff's Office at 3 p.m., state police said.

After he started shooting, deputies in the building returned fire. It is unknown if the deputy was the hostage.

Moreau said since it was an ongoing investigation that he would not release more details on what happened. Police did not release a motive.

A person who answered the phone at the sheriff's office said the sheriff would not comment.

Farrakhan: Mideast uprisings will come to US

Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan predicted on Sunday that America faces imminent uprisings that mirror those in the Middle East.

“What you are looking at in Tunisia, in Egypt … Libya, in Bahrain … what you see happening there … you’d better prepare because it will be coming to your door,” Farrakhan said in a booming voice, thousands of followers cheering in his wake.

Started the weekend in a great mood after reading post that BOTH J-FED and MMM were sent packing. I thought, wow, Rahm is as smart, bold and decisive as his reputation:
SMART: He realized this fight between CPD and Mayor is petty and vindictive and destructive to everyone – police, Mayor and of course citizens. This fight is Daley’s fight, not my fight. Smart because he must have found a way to get accurate intel regarding how J-Fed damaged CPD with poor management, subservience to Daley (versus service), horrible promotions and contempt for the officers that served under him. Etc, Etc, Etc. (Also that MMM was his partner in crime)
BOLD: Once he realized J-FED/MMM were cancer destroying this vital city service he decided to remove them at once before they caused any more damage .
What a master stroke!!! I can take huge steps to end this destructive feud, begin to deliver on one of the biggest components of my campaign (SAFTEY) and not have to spend One Penny of scarce city money to do it!!!
Then I woke up Monday morning and saw Rahm having breakfast with Mayor Mumbles. When subject of J_FED came up they both passed him back and forth like a football on a busted play at a high school football game. NO Plan, just dithering.
And now JFED is making demands. Who is more delusional – J-Fed or Charlie Sheen? Does J-Fed also want an apology and to have CPD Exempt lick his feet while doing it?
Come on RAHM, they say you have balls. Do you just scream at staffers or can you really make some tough decisions?

Could they have picked an uglier son of a bitch to be the star of CHICAGO CODE? This guy scares me. Looks like a serial child rapist killer. What a joke of a show. I guess I'll just watch reruns of Adam-12.

Personally, I think he's kind of cute. He has that untamed Polish look. Not bad for an Aussie.

Now, kees me you fool!!!!
