Word is that all exempts and tactical lieutenants are being ordered to 35th Street for a mandatory meeting Monday. No concrete word on what it may entail, but the whispered rumor is that they're having cake and coffee for J-Fled's final day. Could it be true?
No one is saying anything about this next part though - the smaller media room just off to the side of the Multi-Purpose Room has been draped in plastic and numerous booths have been set up with ceremonial knives so that those falling out of favor can do the honorable thing and pave the way for the new regime.

Starting NOW all Command Staff will only make their non-exempt pay. Either lieutenant’s pay or Captains pay.
HOWEVER, everything above the Lts or Capts pay would be considered a "stipend" pay for doing the Commanders, Deputy Chief, Chief, ADS etc....
This "stipend" pay however is NOT pensionable. Therefore the tax payers are NOT on the hook for paying these insane "Gold Braid pensions"
This could work in ALL areas of government .. not only with City of Chicago Commissioners but also non-union positions where "bosses" are making LARGE paychecks which are pensionable. No more $300,000 pensions for these bastards.
If the "exempt" member does not like it.. he can quit and go back to his non-exempt position.

With only two days left on his contract as the city's top cop, police Superintendent Jody Weis said he'd like to stay in Chicago when his position as the city's top cop ends.
"When this position ends, I'll look into doing something else. I'd like to do something here in Chicago," Weis said at a news conference this afternoon.
Hired by outgoing Mayor Richard M. Daley in 2008 following several high-profile police scandals, Weis, a longtime FBI agent, has been on the political hot seat, battling perceptions of high crime, complaints about manpower and officer safety and a seemingly unshakable image as an outsider.
Weis has been mum about his future after his $310,000-a-year position ends March 1. He said he hasn't spoken to Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, who has pledged to replace Weis.
"As for me, let's wait and see what happens next."

Rahm want's to meet with all 25 Commanders and there Tactical Lieutenants. One team to stay in district at Commanders discretion for watch and start times. Remaining two team to be sent to high crime areas, courtesy of the DOC. Current Tactical Lieutenants will be distributed to watches as needed for furlough relief and man power coverage. This way Rahm can tell the media, "See, I have already put an additional 500 Officers on the streets"
And Rahm said he was not going to put his car in front of the mayors... Liar all ready changing and taking control. As rahm says, so let it be written, so let it be done.

I have been following the decline of the CPD for the eleven years since I retired. I continue to see the degradation of morale due to the continual promotion of incompetent bosses. I dismay at the deaths of our officers by individuals who should not have been on the street. Perhaps, and I repeat PERHAPS, there will be a change for the better under Rahm, however I sincerely doubt it. I pray that you officers take into consideration that just because you are ordered to perform a task it may NOT be a lawful order. Let common sense prevail. You will still get that voucher on the 1st and 16th whether your E rating is a 75 or a 99. Do what is REQUIRED but go home safely to your family at the end of your tour. You know who the unstable and/or egotistical supervisors are. Avoid them, bid off the watch, bid out of the district. That "HONORED STAR CASE" is no comfort to your family. Be safe and G-- bless.

Actually most merit lieutenants move quickly to exempt ranks (and captain 5 to 10 years ago). Nothing says "enjoy the next 10 years in patrol" faster than a legit lieutenant score.
There's also a M/4/35 recruit in the academy with "La Raza" tattooed across the middle of his back in 2 inch letters.

I for one would like to see the pension contribution increase dramatically for the exempts now on the job. There might not be any way to limit what the gold braiders steal, er, take out of the pension fund so perhaps the politically appointed bosses can be forced to double their contributions into the fund. 18% instead of 9% for starters. To make up for the relatively short time they pay into the fund at the way higher salary rate. And of course the City can match that amount, with the multiplier.
The actuaries can determine the actual rate needed.
I will offer that up to the city in the spirit of the pension reform Rahm is looking for.

Here is the idea:
Starting NOW all Command Staff will only make their non-exempt pay. Either lieutenant’s pay or Captains pay.
HOWEVER, everything above the Lts or Capts pay would be considered a "stipend" pay for doing the Commanders, Deputy Chief, Chief, ADS etc....
This "stipend" pay however is NOT pensionable. Therefore the tax payers are NOT on the hook for paying these insane "Gold Braid pensions"
This could work in ALL areas of government .. not only with City of Chicago Commissioners but also non-union positions where "bosses" are making LARGE paychecks which are pensionable. No more $300,000 pensions for these bastards.
If the "exempt" member does not like it.. he can quit and go back to his non-exempt position.

I worked for a SW Suburban PD before CPD. We got a new Chief. He loved the gold regallia and such on his uniform. An old LT. there dubbed him "The Steam Boat Captain".Dude looked like Fraizer Thomas in that uniform.

Update: The meeting was cancelled for unknown reasons but no one bothered to tell the exempts. They kept coming in all morning. I guess when you are on your way out it does not matter if you waste peoples time.

He was meritcloutoriously promoted to lieutenant from the last exam not requiring a degree to qualify for promotion. The mope has no degree. How does it make sense for Howard to be the person at the top of our educational institution and he has no degree? Quite inspiring, isn't it?
