"...officer was shot near the intersection of Thorndale Avenue and Broadway..."

All the "urban initiatives" in the world aimed at that lousy block, all the money poured in, and still the same s__t for the last thirty years...

That is one of the "L" stations they want to close.

Rahm sends his gratitude and best wishes to the injured officer. he will thank all the police for their brave service by cutting our pensions. Shortshanks never rewarded us like that. Weis was only there to impress any job he has applied for. God it's great how everyone appreciates the police. Can you feel the love?

Glad The Police are ok...

This is happening way to much.

This is direct fallout/blow back/back-blast from the Daley Inc. media orchestration to make The Police the enemies of the public.

Their plan was to detach us from public good will. Easy to destroy people the rest of society doesn't give a damn about. The public won't utter a peep of opposition to this.

These are pages lifted right out of Hitler's and Stalin's playbooks.

So...

Mr. Mayor-elect Emmanuel.

What about those "greedy" front line "public servants" whose "sweet pensions and early retirements" are blamed for being the reason for this city being virtually bankrupt?

Of course, we know it's politically convenient to declare war on them instead of your political godfather who was the conductor behind the chronic pension underfunding, budgetary sleight of hand and willful fiscal malfeasance in ensuring clouted contractors stayed fat and first responders went begging.

There was plenty of money to take care of everyone but your political godfather violated the one immutable law of gamblers and the protected class of municipal financial criminals... He got greedy.

(Oh, and not shitting on the people doing the heavy lifting is another one)

Mr. Mayor-elect, for the good of all, it is only common sense to call off this war against The Police.

As much as you would love to believe otherwise and in spite of what your predecessor says, the overwhelming majority of us are honorable men (and women)in the old tradition.

But...

We don't take kindly to the non-stop media orchestration of us being the enemy. Nor do we take kindly to the non-stop attempts to reduce us to second class citizenship in a city on whose streets we've shed, blood, sweat and tears.

Because of the media and political campaign to destroy Police and Policing as we know it in Chicago, the public and especially the criminal element feels most comfortable attacking the character and the physical persons of Police Officers now more than ever.

We reckon they await the glorious day when The Police and their supporters are marched off to 21st century Stalags to never be heard from again.

This is YOUR inheritance Mr. Mayor-elect.

You can either embrace wholeheartedly as the current and miserably failed superintendent has, to his never ending shame, discredit and dishonor, or you can usher in a new era of fairness and integrity to stake your claim to an honorable legacy.

Never forget... The Police are not the enemy.

Never forget... There is nothing humble, subservient or servant-like to honoring an oath made very personal by our sacrifice of blood, sweat, tears, time missed with family, time spent burying our friends and comrades in the face of the public making light of their sacrifices in addition to the many good years taken off most of our lives with the grief, anger, rage and frustration only punctuated by the too few small moments of satisfaction and even joy.

Out of all that, WE ARE PROUD!

None of this could ever the the work of humble, subservient, second class citizens whom the rest of society so desperately wishes would just shut up and go away.

We'll see you in the field Mr. Mayor-elect...

Since we're the enemy of the public now, we're very easily identifiable.

Carry two guns. Anyone with a semi-auto that runs into a problem will wish they had two during a gun battle. All the best for the crime fighters. Be safe.

As I was driving south down LSD around 18:15, there must have been 7-8 un-marked cars with blue lights--even one or two cars that weren't your standard "unmarked vehicle" (one looked like a Chevy sports car). A few came all the way from as far south as 12th street (in traffic, nonetheless).

Where were they coming from? Why all the unmarked cars?

Just curious...thanks!
