Whoops
The 49-year-old ex-convict was on crutches.
But that didn’t keep James Roesch from escaping from custody at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse at 26th and California Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Roesch was being held behind a courtroom Tuesday, awaiting a bond hearing for a recent burglary arrest, when he bolted about 10 a.m., sheriff’s police spokeswoman Liane Jackson said.
At some point, Roesch “dumped” his crutches as he fled, Jackson said.
He didn’t get far. Officers caught him as he made his way outside into the damp April morning, witnesses said. He was brought back in — with plenty of time to spare before his bond hearing.
At least they caught him quickly.

Wounder if judge Voughn or Alverez held the front door open for him as he fled? They might as well
He probably figured he didn't have a leg to stand on in court.
He was part of Pat Quinn's early release program.
Couldn't he just wait the week or so when Quinn would simply have granted him total clemency.
All he had to do was...wait in line!
It's a miracle I can walk. Who needs to go to those store front make believe churches. Just go to Cali temple on the way to the pokey MB COGIC
He was probably about to flee in a chevy from "larry Roesch"
How did he get a burglary charge approved against him instead of criminal trespass? Did the judge give him a stern "talking to" before he gave him an I bond?
Gotta watch these slippery bastards, its better to assume they are full of shit from the beginning
I bet the guy collects SSI because, "my leg hurts". Sounds like he can run like a champ.
He'll get a slap on the hand and be given a second chance which is more like his 20th second chance. That's what criminals are supposed to do....right??
