Nice Pick Rahm-bo

  • Chicago’s next Schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard was named in two federal lawsuits during his three years as superintendent of the Rochester, NY school district, including one that accused Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel’s controversial pick of age discrimination.

Both lawsuits were filed last July.

The first accuses Brizard of firing Marilynn Patterson Grant, Rochester’s former deputy superintendent for teaching and learning, “without cause” last year after making several derogatory comments about her age. Grant, who is 58, had worked for the Rochester City School District for 35 years.

  • A second lawsuit, filed by a former coordinator for homeless children and families, alleged that Brizard had instituted a policy of sending teachers under investigation to an alternative work location called a “rubber room” as a form of punishment.
You'd think Rahm's people would have vetted this is some manner. But then, seeing all the scandal-plagued picks Rahm brought to Washington for Obama, maybe he just doesn't care.

It's not that he doesn't care, it's that he's a typical communist disguised as a democRAT. Look at all the admirers of Chairman Mao on the Obama cabinet. Do you think that's an accident?

They are enemies of freedom. That's why Daley wants a camera on every corner. So the totalitarian dictatorship can spy on the people and keep them under control. Why the anti gun push? That's what dictators need.

The more freedom you give away, the more you enslave yourself. But we can't even get most cops to vote, so what's the point?

With all due respect, SCC, the allegations in those lawsuits don't mean diddly squat, and you know it.
How many of your sworn readers here have been defendants in federal lawsuits facing BS allegations?
I say give the guy a chance, he can't do any worse
than Ron Huberman has, with all his U of C pedigree,
having made a thorough enough shambles of:
1) OEMC
2) CTA
3) CPS

At least the guy Rahm has selected has bonafide
experience in education. Even Arnie Duncan couldn't say that before he ran the schools here.

The Ballerino had to act fast.

There was a rumor out there that some other U.S. cities with even more f*cked up public schools were interested in this guy. The Rahmster doesn't want egg on his face by not being able to attract his first major appointment, does he?

It's not too late to avoid this embarrassment.

Rahm's new school board could always reject his nomination by suggesting that he was an excellent candidate on the surface but after their EXHAUSTIVE investigation into his background, they believe he may not be the best "fit" for our public schools.

SCC, I'm sorry but the guy having two lawsuits being filed against him doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot. The working police on any department know that.

"Rubber rooms" as they have been called are used all across the state of New York. Some old tired washed up entitled woman whose clout didn't back her when she got canned doesn't mean shit either.

I have 4 lawsuits that I am a named defendant in. I am not the main target in any of them. I didn't do anything other than my job in all the lawsuits. I have been a supposed witness (fishing expedition by IPRA and IAD) in at least 10 CR numbers over the last two years. Some have already been exonerated and not one was sustained. By the logic your using I should be at callback with 30 days pending while the dept does a thorough background check on all the complaints being made against me or that I am supposedly apart of.

The art of the complaint and lawsuit is common practice among the GUILTY!!!!!

The schools guy is going to hold do nothing teachers accountable. I would love to see a police supt make the do nothings work on CPD.

With all due respect, when appointing someone to a position, especially a politically charged position in a political town like Chicago, there should be more than a little effort into making sure that the appointee is free of the typical baggage that seems to crop up.

We know people who've been accused of BS and have been accused of BS more times than we can count on the job - we aren't running a system of thousands of employees and hundreds of thousands of students and getting accused of very specific violations of strictly defined guidelines.

If he has violated the rights of his employees, that is serious. He left running out of rochester, breaking a 3 year contact, which meant nothing to him. He knows he fucked up over there and that 3year contract was desperation on the boards part. NO ONE ELSE WANTED THE JOB. Huberman was a hack! Duncan, hack! This guy was brought in to fuck with teachers and their union, teachers better close ranks. Rahm will not leave well enough alone. Let the lawsuits begin!

Also, to the jackass that SCC is addressing, having open CR numbers or pending suits can prevent you from getting into a unit or even being promoted on this department.

The Rubber Room has been a Chicago Public Schools fixture for decades. Just think of the millions of dollars in salaries and benefits that have been paid out for bad teachers to sit in a Rubber Room and do nothing. What a democrat union joke.
JC (as the ballerino called him) Brizard is from a school district of maybe 32,000 students. Not over 400,00 like Chicago.
There was a Chicago school supt. named Argie Johnson in the 90's who came from being principal of an elementary school somewhere who was so out of her league, I saw her crying in her car outside of where she was supposed to present a new plan for the schools. She then wrote some sentences down on a piece of paper and that is what she read at the presentation in front of news cameras at Manley High School. The "plan" contained nothing but what she had just written down in the car.
JC?????? Are YOU ready?

Once in a while there is a Federal lawsuit that has merit, as hard as it is to believe. This might be one of those cases.

However it turns out, the allegations are serious baggage for a pretender to a top appointment of a brand spanking new Mayor of Chicago.

This is one of the big appointments Rahm will make along with Police Superintendent. Much too important to stumble like this the first time out.

Seriously, who gives a crap? I used to be a crusader, believed in justice and all of that. Back up your fellow officers, help the true victims, and go home to your real life. If you believe in the CPD, you must believe in fairies.

Your school is over crowed ? No room for the ADC children ? No problem, bring in the Willis Wagons. No need to bus them to other neighborhoods. Free lunch programs ? As city workers, teachers and cops should stick together. There are as many "bad" cops as there are "bad" teachers. What does bad mean anyway? Give me an example of one job that has perfect employees? None. People need to stop blaming teachers for the test scores, the violence and for whatever else is a teachers fault. I give anyone who disagrees a chance to walk in a CPS classroom and see how you feel. It is a top down issue and we need to get rid of the bad policy makers and support our teachers. The answers always seem to come from people who have never stepped into a classroom and actually taught.
This new JC man and half the board of ed. are not even from Chicago. They will never understand.

I generally find this blog quite informative but I must point out the obvious hypocrisy here. On numerous occasions you point out that many of the complaints filed against police officers are baseless and that these complaints should be examined with a heavy dose of skepticism. Why are you not extending that same rationale here?
