In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields
Never forget their sacrifices. Not only on Memorial Day, but everyday.
If you are able, save for them a place inside of you and one backward glance when you are leaving, for the places they can no longer go.
Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not always have. Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own.
And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.

I am proud to say my dad is a marine, my brother is a marine and my wonderful husband was a Sgt. MP in the Army. Thankfully all are alive. I have two wonderful elderly uncles were both wounded in WWII. One uncle with a plate in his head and the other who caught malaria and was shot in the arm while in the Phillipines.
Every veteran has a story and we thank you so much.
May God bless the fallen, who have given their best and their last to protect our great American way of life! I am sooooo proud to be an American! Oh yeah...I vote too. I haven't forgotten those who have paid in blood so that EVERYONE in America could exercise their right to vote.
Remember: If you don't vote, you really can't complain!
Thanks to all Veterans , we have Freedom and can enjoy a day off eat , drink in moderation and enjoy the hot 90 degree weather, it's what we've been waiting for all year . The ice cold beer will go down good . Say a prayer for all out men serving in the Armed Forces . God Bless America .
Went past the 22nd district today and observed the Flags at full mast. What a slap in the faces of the men and women who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Maybe someone up there with a set of nuts might actually ask for the key to raise and lower the flags when the useless engineer isn't around.

There was a Memorial Day event at the General John A. Logan Monument in Grant Park today.
According to J.R. Davis, Chairman and President of the Chicago Cultural Mile Association, "former Chicago Police Superintendent Jody ("J-Fled") Weis laid a wreath in memory of those who died in the service and protection of our communities."
The WMAQ-Channel 5 News at 10:00 PM just showed tape of various local Memorial Day remembrances and gatherings. Some were of wreath layings and in one of them, J-FLED was walking, or lumbering along, with a wreath! Apparently he has yet to get out of town!
Obama Under Fire For Eyeing Gun Control 'Under The Radar' Last updated at 9:19 PM on 29th May 2011
The Obama administration is exploring tighter regulation on gun policy that can be secured through an executive order, bypassing congressional approval, officials have confirmed.
The potential crackdown has prompted concern among gun rights groups in the ongoing debate surrounding gun control and Second Amendment rights.

Okay, this is a new one on me. I have never heard of flying the flag at half-staff on Memorial Day.
So, I looked it up. Wiki quotes USC 4 U.S.C. ยง 7(m) saying the flag is to be flown at half-staff on Memorial Day until NOON. Interesting. Marking the sacrifice, but celebrating the spirit.
Also, all day on Peace Officers Memorial Day 15 May, Pearl Harbor Day 07 Dec and Patriot Day, 11 Sept.

I bet he bought the wreath and begged City Hall to let him place it somewhere, anywhere. Seriously, he should just go on Dancing with the Stars, with all the other has-beens. GO AWAY, JODY. Or don't they even want you back at the family grocery store business?

That asshole is still hanging around in hopes that the Machine will offer him some sort of consolation Pity Job, like they did Masters with Preckwinkle. But it won't happen, everyone knows Weis is a bum who should have never even been offered the opportunity to almost completely dismantle a large FORMERLY FUNCTIONAL Metropolitan PD with the assistance of 3M. Just leave, asshole! Rent out your terribly decorated tomb of a condo and just GO.
IL HOUSE PASSES DREAM ACT FOR UNDOCUMENTED IN IL TO RECEIVE IN STATE TUITION AND PAY INTO IL COLLEGE FUND WHILE THEY GIVE LIP SERVICE TO VETERANS WTF thanks Quinn is a sellout if he signs this Where is our pension funding???? ViVa La Revolution
Happy Memorial Day to all. I hope everyone had the opportunity to attend the parades in their area. Big thanks to all the Vets for their sacrifices, past present and future. God Bless.
Do not forget the WWII war workers here at home. Mother, in her overalls and photo badge and unfamilar work boots, was a young girl when she got a job inspecting rifle receivers -- when things started looking a little better after the Depression.
She slipped and fell on an oily metal factory stairway, fracturing her coccyx.
It still bothers her today. She's 87.
God bless all who served -- some of whom still suffer today.

I served and know some who didn't make it back from the Middle East. This is their day. We honor their sacrifice this day. God bless you all.
The Flag does not fly at half staff on Memorial Day. And it's "troops" not "troups." Stick to drinking your beer.

A shameless coward laying a wreath for fallen heroes on Memorial Day. What will it take to run J-Fled out of town?

Sid Davis used to do that. He is retired now but is still the FOP Recording Secretary. Drop Sid an email. And tell him to stand up!

RIP to my uncle, WW II vet who gave his life.
...IF YOU GOOGLE "WEIS" and "COWARD".
And they have J-Fled place a wreath honoring our fallen HEROES. Isn't that special?
GOTTA RUN!
