I remember Rich as my wagon guy when I worked in the projects there in 019.He was always one of the first guys there when things started going south. One time I had 8 latched up for pcs and pulled up in the wagon, leaned out the window smiling and said"Cleanin up the jets?" I replied "one family at a time" which got a chuckle out of him. The man was a good one..when I heard that he was shot and killed my heart sank and for a long time it was hard for me to get past the tiny sign on the spot where he fell. Each time I had Court at Br 29 I would always pay my respects to that sign.
Rich,you are missed Brother.
See you soon.

Lathrop One.

Paul & Joes or The Blue Light are the two sites that come to mind for the memorial. Both are on Western north of Belmont.

Miss you, Rick. I married some one you knew. We bought in your neighborhood. We have two boys now. They will go to St. Monica. I can't go by there without thinking of all the goofy times we had together. You thought me a lot in the short time were rode together.

RIP

Never forget. Officer Francis would be alive today if he was not working 99. Don't let his death mean nothing.

Absolutely, positively, REFUSE to work 99 on 1st and 3rd watch! Especially for those of you in the war zones.

I don't think a bar is appropriate. And a plaque on the bridge upright is pointless, because the bridge is about to be torn down. How about a metal plaque embedded in the sidewalk?

The silence of the cowards at F.O.P. in regards to the CRITICAL manpower shortage is disgusting. We are 4,500 officers short and Officer Francis is dead because of it. God Bless he and his family.

He was a good friend to me. Met him about 1985. He had some great one liners and was fun to be around. I loved to ride with him on our bikes and go to the places.

In 1989 he ran into me at a place and after talking for a little while I went to leave and he followed me out. I was really having trouble at the time; things were really goofed up for me but I didn;t tell him that, keeping it all inside, you know how that can be sometimes. He talked to me for about 20 minutes and I really felt good. The next time I saw him he said: "Hey you don't have that thousand yard stare" and that's the last we ever mentioned it. I think I would have been embarrassed with alot of other guys.
I wish I could have been there this morning.
