Crime Blog
A helpful reader or ten pointed us in the direction of a blog we had been meaning to bookmark but lost track of:
They peg the current number of homicides in Chicago at 171 (way low?) and the shootings at 1,132 (also low?) through 23 July. They also have a running total of persons killed by Off Duty Clowns (1 - and still our favorite crime story of the year). They post up lots of the CLEARMAP stuff so you can get a feel for the other neighborhood mayhem surrounding a lot of these shooting scenes.
In any event, we understated the number of people walking around with extra holes in them by a few hundred by this blog's unofficial count.

Did anyone see the "show" about Internal Affairs on Lifetime on Sunday? First storyline out of box is female bartender beaten by male cop. Seems female lead has three brothers and her dad who are police. Typical reaction by brothers and dad when they find out she has been promoted to detective and decides to go to I A. Show ended when she responds to police shooting and cop involved is her brother. She wants to go comfort him and her partner says. We can't talk to him..Homicide gets him first!!! Who is writing this stuff? Did I mention based upon Chicago! Next show...next Sunday!
That's not fair, the clown was 'on duty' as a clown, not the police

the shooting number is correct. the homicide number is incorrect.
Price tag is $35,000 a ticket.

Seriously? there's plenty to bitch about with obama, but claiming that tax dollars paid for a birthday party? uh, no. he's got plenty of rich friends (and has some pretty good money himself from his books) to rent out the place and jennifer hudson probably did the show for free.
Thanks for the plug. As pointed out by one of your “in the know readers” the Red Eye listed the homicide totals as 230. Knowing that the media would never lie and raise the numbers higher to make the city look bad, we are revising our homicide totals. Although our main focus is on the actual number of people shot in Chicago, (we think our numbers are pretty accurate) since no one will report the number of people shot, not just the shootings. After all we’re stuck here with all the CPD in the “Wild Mid-West” too.

In the past the redeye has also counted homicides in Riverdale and surrounding suburbs as being a "Chicago" homicide. Obviously an unreliable source since the people keeping tabs for the redeye don't know the boundaries of the City.

How do you think Obama is getting to Chicago? Your tax dollars. Who do you think is paying for his security while he is here? Your tax dollars

He lives here, dipshit, he's allowed to visit his home from time to time. Or have you forgotten all the Dem whining about Bush spending too much time on his ranch? How you think he got there?

Well, dipshit, one would think that he would be working on the debt since he claimed the economy was going to shut down. Just because a bill was passed doesn't mean everything is ok. Obviously you've drank the kool-aid.
