Too Little Too Late
- The Obama administration on Tuesday removed or reassigned the top officials involved in a widely criticized U.S. operation to trace the flow of illegal guns into Mexico.
"Fast and Furious" was intended to gather information on how Mexican drug cartels use operatives in the U.S. to buy and smuggle guns across the border. Federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents were instructed to watch — but not to stop — the illegal sales in the hope of gathering intelligence on how the smugglers worked. But in the process, hundreds of guns wound up in the hands of Mexican drug gangs. Two of the weapons turned up at the scene where a U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed in a shootout.
The acting director of ATF, Kenneth Melson, has been reassigned to a Justice Department policy office. And Dennis Burke, the U.S. attorney in Arizona who approved the "Fast and Furious" operation, resigned Tuesday. A senior Justice Department official said Attorney General Eric Holder had lost confidence in them and that ATF needed "a fresh start."
In true Chicago fashion though, the acting director of ATF was "reassigned." Not unlike certain Chicago exempts who can't stop stepping in shit and continuously coming up smelling like a rose. Nice to see our complete lack of responsibility spreading its tentacles into the national consciousness.

Anyone else think that Rahm maybe posturing to cut public safety to get Quinn to sign the casino bill? Just a thought
Don't any of these connected useless rats ever get fired and thrown on the street to look for a real job? Just move these mutts around to another high paying useless job somewhere in government. The Chicago Way has become the American Way. But with Billy Daley in the Oval Office giving Barry foot rubs all day what do you expect.
" A fresh start "? Holder is so full of shit, I can smell him from here.
" Federal prosecutors are opposing crime victim status for the family of slain USBP Agent Brian Terry ...victim status among other things, gives family members the right to be notified of court proceedings in the case, confer w/ prosecutors on matters related to the case, testify at sentencing or parole hearings & receive restitution ...operation " Fast & Furious " was ended after Terry's death in 2010...still Federal prosecutors urged a judge not to confer victim status on the Terry family arguing that the Agent, ( now get ready for some DOJ/Holder un-fuckin-real ) was not " directly & proximately harmed " ( gee, I wonder who was buried? )..." the victim of the offense is not any particular person, but society in general " prosecutors said in court documents "
Well, I'm part of society in general & I didn't bury husband/father but the Terry Family did.
Eric Holder, appointed by the Anointed One as part of his " hope & change "
Outraged doesn't even begin to describe it.
"...One of his last acts? Opposing the request of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's family to qualify as crime victims in a court case against the thug who bought the Fast and Furious guns used in Terry's murder."

Melson has been kicked back to DOJ's main office in a flabbergasting new slot as "senior adviser on forensic science in the department's Office of Legal Policy." He may have been "sick to his stomach," but the federal careerist apparently has no intention of quitting an administration with blood on its hands. And now he'll be advising others on how to track and handle evidence. Nice make-work if you can get it.
Others on the Fast and Furious dance card of lemons:
- Assistant U.S. Attorney Emory Hurley in Phoenix, who helped oversee the straw gun purchase disaster. He's being transferred out of the U.S. attorney's office's criminal division and into the civil division.
- Assistant ATF Special Agents in Charge George Gillett and Jim Needles moved to other positions.
- ATF deputy director of operations in the West, William McMahon was promoted to ATF headquarters.
- ATF Phoenix field supervisors William Newell and David Voth were promoted to new management positions in Washington.
Keep your friends close and your henchmen on the verge of spilling all the beans closer.
There's been only one visible Fast and Furious resignation: U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke in Phoenix, who quietly stepped down on Tuesday.
One of his last acts? Opposing the request of murdered Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's family to qualify as crime victims in a court case against the thug who bought the Fast and Furious guns used in Terry's murder.
The fish rots from the head down, of course. DOJ is run by Eric Holder, the Beltway swamp creature who won bipartisan approval for his nomination - even after putting political interests ahead of security interests at the Clinton Justice Department in both the Marc Rich pardon scandal and the Puerto Rican FALN terrorist debacle. Remember: Holder won over the Senate by arguing that his poor judgment made him more qualified for the job.
Screw up, move up, cover up: It's the Holder way, the Obama way, the Washington way. And innocent Americans pay.

When is that incompetent racist holder being fired???
I heard the goal was to weaken the zetas by arming their enimies in Mexico and reinstate the assault weapons ban in the USA.
I applaud the BATFE guys who exposed this unpatriotic operation.
I guess barry/barrak.....whatever, will just have to find another way to keep his promise to sara brady of backdooring gun ledgislation.
Somebody in WH had to approve of "Fast and Furious", who?
Burke the U.S. attorney who has prosecuted many cops and considered himself a "tough" guy became physically ill when confronted by Congressional Investigators. I guess he was not so tough when facing the possibility of being locked up with some of his victims.Or maybe the realization that his stupidity has lead to dozens of deaths on both sides of the Border. Don't forget your history, The Attorney General of the U.S., John Mitchell actually went to prison during the Nixon Administration. I wonder how tough these prosecutors can be when they go to prison and have to face being humiliated and butt raped. They need to throw in some judges as well.
Reassigned = Clout
Resigned = No Clout
'nuf said.
Same old song and dance. Nobody lost a job or pension for 9/11 either.
Move along sheeple.
Supposedly the Zetas cartel is plotting to over throw the Mex gov for their 2012 election. CIA is involved trying to protect the Mex pres.
I've read it was nearly 2,600 guns were allowed to "walk", IN PHOENIX ALONE! Not to mention allegations that fast & furious style tactics were used all along the US-Mexican borders. Criminal negligence charges need to be brought against these bureaucrats, this makes Water Gate look like jay walking!
They should be indicted! They sent rifles to grug cartels in order to create a crisis so they could enact anti-second amendment laws here. Conspiracy to deprive us of our constitutionally enumerated rights. Life in prison, in Guantanimo.
how's that hope and change workin' out now?

You could say the same thing about many CPD officers.
It's not unlike the military, when you reach flag rank, especially two star and above, and you fuck up, your "punishment" is a promotion and reassignment.
Generals must be protected at all costs. And none of them ever wants to judge another, lest the same fate befall them.
The way these things work is someone has to take the fall, and Holder is too close to Obama.
It is almost certain Holder gave the order. But he is too close to the throne to go down for it.
Senior civil service people know the drill when they accept the position. Part of the deal is they get to fall on their sword to protect the political types. The back end of the deal is no one gets any serious punishment as long as they go along.
No one ever gets arrested, indicted or fired! Typical "ChicagoStyle" behavior! But if you are on the bottom of the totem pole, bye bye!

What is your point? 9/11 was a terrorist attack on the US. Are you trying to say that it was our ATF's fault that the terrorists got US jets to fly into buildings? That's ridiculous. Fast and Furious is our ATF handing guns over to criminals to see how they use them. Not even close to the same thing.
@ 9/01/2011 04:56:00 PM...
Jeez! Know your history!
The original poster was no doubt referring to the Feds sitting on and trying to quash actionable intel as to who the 9-11 terrorists actually were, where they were and what flight schools they were attending.
Special Agent Wright is a true American hero for trying to sound the alarm.
The former CPD stupidintendent j-fled while still employed with the FBI was a principal in not only suppressing the intel, but also mounting a vicious smear & retaliation campaign against Wright for refusing to shut up and going "whistle-blower" with the info he had. Agent Wright was fired from FBI much to j-fled's glee.
A very quiet congressional inquiry resulted in Wright being reinstated eventually.
3000 American citizens died...
j-fled should have been dangled from a scaffold for Treason and 3000 counts of accessory to Murder.
These idiot civilians have chosen not to educate themselves about this shit.
"You Coppers are mad because he is a true law enforcement professional and he's cracking the whip on you guys."
No... We refused to acknowledge a cowardly, traitorous sub-human who by all rights should have been crow food but he was able to parlay his treachery into 3 yrs of affliction for CPD because he really wanted a CPD leather so he can look cool "tooling" around on his Harley.
(Cut the patches off, you rotten, coward, traitor muthafuckah!)
j-fled has blood on his hands...
Know the story... Get educated...
Good luck finding much. A lot of stuff has been "scrubbed."
The feebs burn their fuck-ups, bury their fuck-ups, hide their fuck-ups and pay their fuck-ups to go away...
The Police are the enemy...
Viva Hate.

My point being that FBI Agents who tried to warn their superiors about these guys taking flying lessons were ignored, and then punished when they went to the media afterwords. Jamie Gorelick making sure intelligence agencies couldn't share information which would have raised red flags PRIOR to the "event." So yes, other than the ATF being involved, it IS close to the same thing.

Congress is not done with fast and furious....
Close down the them down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Biggest crime ever perpetrated against the american people with the relaxation of lending standards that led to the mortgage crisis. Unprecidented amounts of money stolen and nobody goes to jail. Fuck them all and NObama NOmo.
nothing will "change" until Obama is out of DC
The federal officials involved in this case knowingly violated the US Neutrality laws. This case morphed into something totally different from its original intent when it was begun by the Bush administration. These jokers can go away for an very long time and they know it.That's why they are scrambling and lying their asses off. This case goes all the way up to Obama. He changed the original intent and approved it after consulting with Holder and other top officials in his administration. If this case really sees the light of day,he can be impeached because of it. That's what's got them so worried.
