Stop Shooting Criminals! (UPDATED)

  • An organizer of a downtown protest against police brutality Saturday said Flint Farmer’s death in June was “just another case of a young black man shot to death by police for no reason.”

Farmer, 29, was fatally shot by police June 7 in the 6200 block of South Wolcott. Police have defended the shooting, saying he “aggressively came at” an officer responding to a domestic battery call.

But protest organizer Grant Neuberger, reading from a letter from Farmer’s father, said the younger Farmer carried a cell phone, not a weapon, when he was shot.

Hey Grant? Too fucking bad. Daddy Farmer wasn't there and neither were you. And even if Flint was unarmed, he advances on an armed man and somehow wrestles the gun away? Now we have a big fucking problem. In our book (and fortunately in the laws on the books), the officer is given plenty of leeway to eliminate the threat and protect him/herself from great bodily harm and harm to others.

When it comes down to it, and the choice is between a cop going home in one piece and an ignorant piece of garbage with no impulse control advancing in an attempt to take a cop's gun, we're going to support the cop every time.

UPDATE: We've seen the video referenced in some of the comments. A few points for the armchair quarterbacks and civilian trolls popping up:
  • Have you ever seen muzzle flashes at night? It lights up pretty much the entire area around - trees, grass, sidewalks, buildings. We don't see that in the video, so the conclusion drawn from the video is suspect at best;
  • Police are completely within their rights, and we could argue, expected by law to shoot unarmed people in close quarters, because the minute they get hold of our gun, they're not unarmed anymore. In fact, a sizable percentage of officers murdered are killed with their own weapon. So the safest course of action for anyone in a high-stress close encounter is TO DO EXACTLY WHAT THE POLICE TELL YOU TO DO! No ifs ands or buts. If you want to go home in one piece, shut the fuck up and listen to the police and comply. You want to motherfuck the police, flap your gums and get a payday, then you do that at Civil Court, not on the street. And believe us, there are plenty of scumbag bottom-feeding lawyers more than willing to take your case on a contingency basis.
  • And who the hell leaked the video to the media? Someone ought to see who benefits directly and indirectly from this piece of evidence being in the public realm. This is an ongoing investigation and guess who else in involved? J-Fled's very own feeb buddies. McCarthy ought to shut his mouth and start looking inward at what this mess means to the integrity of countless criminal investigations instead of saying there's a "problem." No shit Sherlock - there's enough problems here to fill a book. You aren't helping.
And to a couple of the unpublished trolls, you weren't there at all, but you're eating up the media reports littered with quotes from people WHO WEREN'T THERE EITHER and by people with an axe to grind. If we were there, we wouldn't admit it here, but obviously, we have more access to people who were present. But in your tiny agenda-driven minds, the police are always in the wrong regardless. So go fuck yourselves and go troll somewhere else. Your crap isn't seeing the light of day here. Go post some more drivel at the Tribune site - they seem to love that sort of thing.

Most people who "protest" against police shootings have never been to the scene of a shooting, either when it is happening, or immediately afterward. If they think they are so smart, as arm-chair critics, let them be deputized by the Department and drive a squad car with a star and a gun, and see how easy it is to handle confrontation with a violent offender, either armed, or unarmed with the intention of disarming an officer and killing him. These critics are moral and spiritual COWARDS. Take the police exam, go through the academy, and do the job first, before you ever criticize what a police officer did as his sworn duty, and to go home at night, safely, to take care of his beloved family. The majority of citizens, even in this piss-poor economy, do not have the guts to sign up with the CPD and work the streets as a beat cop, not knowing from one moment to the next when such a situation will arise out of the blue.

When I first came on the job in 1998, investigating burglaries, I used to tell citizens in the Lincoln Park neighborhood that, even despite the un-Constitutional Chicago gun-ban (later, appropriately, overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court), that they could purchase a gun and keep it in their home for self-protection, because it was their 2nd Amendment right, no matter what the Constitution-hating, stupid Mayor Daley said. They all looked at me like they were scared rabbits, and refused to entertain the thought of owning a gun and defending themselves.

It is the same with "brutality" critics. They love to criticize, but REFUSE to step up to the plate, buy a gun, and do their duty to themselves and to God to make an honest effort to protect themselves in this very violent City of Chicago.

You think this asshole has your back. He does not. He is working hard to put his first patrolman's head in his trophy case.

Who leaked this to the media, you ask? The good super did is who.

Beware.

Stop anyone and your ass is in the wind. McCarthy wants ten POs in County by 2014. Stop anyone and you deserve what you get.

No more benefits. You have been warned.

I was not there and have no idea what happened but if indeed someone attempted a felony against a law abiding citizen (which presumably the cop was at the time), self defense is a human right and the criminal needs to be put down.

Not a cop

Just watched the video and those absolutely are not muzzle flashes. When was the last time this M.E. seen muzzle flashes first hand? My bet is never. Hey Doc, stick to dealing with dead people and keep your opinions about things which you know nothing of to yourself.

Boys and girls stop being proactive it will only get you in big trouble as this case proves. It is just not worth it. If someone is going to run, let them run.

Mctool says he has our backs, he is full of shit. Instead of giving the officer the benefit of the doubt until the investigation is completed, he has already thrown the officer under the bus.

The Sunday Tribune Article Does Not Portray This Officer In The Best Light. Let's hope he gets a fair shake from the people that will be investigating his shootings. I question the superintendents remarks. The CPD does not have a way to monitor Officers involved in shootings. I suspect they do monitor, and have always monitored officers, that have been involved in shooting incidents.

Hey McCarthey, thanks for throwing a policeman under the bus. Rather than saying that this is a pending investigation you state to the media that this officer shouldn't be on the street. Go back to where you came from. This is Chicago, not New York.

And furthermore, the msm, is managing to divide the police. I heard a few black officers call this an execution. Thank G-D, now I know which "officers" not to work with. Obviously, some officers are not BLUE and must've been trained by that goofy bitch that was pres. of the african police league.

The dash cam does NOT show muzzle flashes it shows the light from a flashlight that got turned square on the camera lens and then flashed on something else.

Come on now,how could the Tribune sell its rag if it actually reported the whole story without bias against the police?
Dont know the whole story and only heard one side. Waiting for the other 2 sides.

The police story
The Witness story
The truth.

And true, most armchair rambo's have no clue what it feels like to have a human lined up in the front site.
Thats about all you remember until the sirens jolt you back to reality.
Then comes empty numbness.
Then you go home.

At my first shoot, didnt feel anything. No remorse,no guilt.Just hollow and hungry.
It passes.
Those that have been there(along with me) know the feeling.
It doesnt make you a hero or a killer.
IT DOES change you.Sometimes in visible ways sometimes not visible but it does change you.
You begin to second guess your actions, and if religious, talk to your priest. That too passes.
But what it clearly does is this:

a. Makes you aware more than before
b. Makes you more cautious
c. Makes you appreciate your partner more than the day before.
d. Makes the next days cup of coffee and/or smoke taste especially good.
e. Kills a little part inside of you labled "fear" to a certain degree.
f. makes you hug your kids a little harder the next day and the wife/hubby too.

There will always be those that criticize a police shooting. But these are also the people that enjoy the blanket of protection we provide. The contradict themselves but cling to the liberal mindset of screw the police, but are the first ones to frantically dial 9-11 when their poodle comes up missing.

There are others that will get involved in the shooting as well.
We are the ones that stand behind the Officer involved and walk with him during the aftermath.
While taking a life is always the last resort, when it has to be done,it is never an easy task either right before, during,or after.
Lets hope the investigation clears this officer and those that base judgement solely upon a one sided video posted by a paper with ulterior motives learn to get the whole story before running at the mouth.

Thanks for your time SCC

If MacGoofy, the crime dog, wants to remove dangerous officers from the streets, here's a simple test: Show every police officer the video from this in-car camera.

Have everyone who thinks that the light that is shown is muzzle flash raise there hands and keep them up. Take down their names.

Never let them work the street again.

Why? Because these are the cops who are going to shoot someone holding a flashlight.

P.S. And McGoofy? If YOU think that is muzzle flash, you should simply immediately resign. Please don't attempt law enforcement again until you have completed certified police training.

Obviously, the training you got in New York City didn't take.

We did watch it and anyone who claims those are muzzle flashes has never shot a gun in the dark. Muzzle flashes are sloppy explosions, streaks of fire and in an urban environment, light up everything for yards around, even 9mm stuff.

The case of the man shot by the PO and the case the other day of the woman who stated cops beat the shit out of her when she was a passenger in a car the cops were chasing. Get the story on tv and you will collect some big bucks. The lawyers who represent these "clients" push these cases on tv to make headlines and create anti police feelings. The problem we have today is people believe anything they see on tv or read in the press. Doesn't matter if it is true, half true, or even a complete lie. The lawyers will be there to collect their 40 to 50 % of the proceeds of the lawsuits.
