Maybe we missed the local coverage on this, but someone was helpful enough to forward us a link to the St. Louis Today website:
- The Illinois Senate today confirmed a nominee to a high-paying state panel whose political connections are a virtual trifecta: Her mother is a state Supreme Court justice, her father is a powerful Chicago alderman, and her uncle is a state legislator.
Gov. Pat Quinn's nomination of Jennifer A. Burke to the state's Pollution Control Board passed 43-11. She is the daughter of Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke and Chicago Ald. Ed Burke. State Rep. Dan Burke, D-Chicago, is Ald. Burke's brother.
Jennifer Burke, previously assistant corporation counsel supervisor for Chicago, will make $117,043 annually on board.
Was this covered locally? Regardless, it sure is amazing how the connected few keep managing to land on these $120,000 a year gigs while the rest of society struggles through the double dip recession.

Burke does it again! Like with brother danny burke when he was "deputy Chicago city clerk," and a state legislator at the same time,but now is collecting a big city pension and getting a huge salary as state legislator. Oily eddie also has a large law firm that does millions of business with city contracts! Just like when potatoe head quinn gave zalewskis daughter in law a $120,000 yearly job,and helped his kid get elected in the state also, what else is new? Like the criminal daley giving vanecko our pension fund monies to squander hell vaneko even KILLED an innocent kid and got away with another bonus more money to invest. Patrick "batters" daley beat a kid with baseball bat then all the cab contracts to the Russian mob in shitcago. It goes on and on!

Everyone knows the Burke family has an expertise in controlling pollution. This is a natural fit and we should be happy that such a talented family as the Burke's are available to take care of us poor incompetent citizens.
Lord knows Quinn could have appointed someone from the Carothers family to this post, and then where would we be? I'll bet NO ONE in the Carothers clan knows ANYTHING about controlling pollution! We should thank our lucky stars!

FOP president says officers should have a say in remapping of police beats and districts
The president of the Fraternal Order of Police said Monday the union plans to try to intervene in a recent lawsuit that alleges inequalities in how Chicago police deploy officers in minority neighborhoods.
In a speech hosted by the City Club of Chicago, Michael Shields said remapping police beats and districts should be decided by city officials, the unions and the community, not the American Civil Liberties Union, which filed the suit last month, "and a single Cook County judge."
Shields, 34, a patrol officer who was elected to the union post this year and is also a trustee on the police pension board, also alleged that the pensions of Chicago police officers are "under attack" by politicians.
"It's tough when all the stories are about bigwigs and the clouted doing what they can to milk every dollar out of the system for themselves," Shields said. "I wish the pension debate would focus on the hardworking police officers who had a calling for public service.

What bullshit I get in response to complaints I make to the news media: We checked the facts and stand by our story; The story was not reported because it was not newsworthy; etc., etc.
The media does not get it. The public is beginning to see through their bullshit, more and more. Independent news sources, blogs, social networks, etc. are getting the facts out there more accurately, maybe not without bias, but if any reader of the above has half a brain, they can leave the bias to the side and at least get the facts.

I'm gonna defend Jennifer Burke here. I've worked with her. She's a very sharp and capable lawyer whose practice has been concentrated in environmental law. She's totally well qualified for the job.
She's also a very unpretentious, nice person.
There's all kinds of garbage going on, but this doesn't qualify.
A paycheck to a burke is stolen money.

yes, it was covered locally about a month or 2 ago(I think channel 7). they even interviewed daddy burke who expressed how proud he was of his daughter and how educationally trained she is for the job. oh, he even claimed he didnt know she even applied or was in the running for that job.
