Brilliant!

This is a great idea:
  • Expect to see the junker cars in your district to disappear real soon.

EMMD is compiling a list of crap vehicles, they plan on using the junkers during G8 in the hopes that vehicles will be damaged and claim damage and replacement by fed.

McJersey is trying to put a spin on it that he is pulling crap cars from districts because he cares about the equipment that patrol needs to do their job. Only thing is he doesn't have any replacement vehicles right now, so expect to have to wait for cars coming out of roll call.

We heard about this method of thinking once. Something along the lines of "never let a crisis go to waste." This is inspired thinking. This is...

Oh wait a minute...damnit

I wish they would take all of the junker cars, because how many would that leave on average in each district? This may be our opportunity to be more like the fire department. We sit at the station and wait for a call, then when we are done with the call we give the car to another officer waiting at the station to go on their call.

I'll tell you what we do.

We declare the 7,000 dignitaries a parade by themselves, require each of them to obtain a parade permit to speak at the G8/NATO with insurance of $1 mil. dollars each for protection of the city and it's residents!

That would be $7 billion dollars of insurance coverage.

Hey. It's their shin-dig not the taxpayers. Let THEM pay for it NOT US.

What benefit are any of US getting out of this deal to put lives and property on the line?

We've all just be too conditioned to accept this stuff as the status quo business as usual.

Make 'em park at one of those parking meters owned by that infamous city clouted contractor friends and when the meter expires tow their cars using the HIGHLY clouted city towing contractor and auto pound.

Demand two grand a pop to get their cars back. There's another $14 million in revenue if we tow all their cars JUST ONCE -- and they are here for several days..

Oh man the money that can be made here eh?

This is...this is...this sounds like little more than government sponsored (ring a bell, does it, McHangover?) insurance fraud.

Once these vehicles are completely destroyed and/or rendered unsafe (which describes 80% of the CURRENT fleet being used daily by CPDs frontline) by the powers that be, inflated bids for new squads will be submitted by the likes of Vanecko Motors and Christie Weber Ford.

"Expect to have to wait for cars coming out of roll call"?

Oh no, young grasshopper. Expect more foot posts and stationary assignments in an effort to bring back Beat Integrity. If you think being confined to a little box in select prototype districts is some flash in the pan, you'd better drag your head out of your ass. This method will eventually be implemented city-wide. You WILL be "on your beat on your feet". You will maintain visibility in an effort to rebuild a repoire and dissolve any mistrust with a disillusioned and callous public. Unfortunately, you will reap the problems sowed by your predecessors whom the majority public hates.

You see, the plan is to not only eliminate manpower, it's to create the illusion of adequate staffing via the public being able to see the same officers every day. By being less mobile, you're also more visible. Smoke and mirrors courtesy of a bastardized version of "what's old is new again".

The devil is in the details. And this devil is just getting underway as we speak. This idea has been kicked around for some time now, and has gained considerable traction once the Brassholes figured out that the Crystal Ball Unit wasn't quite cutting the mustard.

The districts (7 & 11, I believe) starting this latest Hail Mary in fuckery ( tip of the hat to you, BCP, sir) are just the tip of the iceberg. Those at CPDs helm know the ship is sinking fast and are implementing 11th Hour band aids in a desperate attempt to save their own asses. This is from a very reliable source who just put his/her papers in this past week.

Like the Costa Concordia run aground in waters off the Italian coast, expect our 'Captains' to abandon this lost cause come May when they're revealed the useless hacks and cowards they truly are.

Illinois attorney general's office plans to sue Westwood College

Among the complaints against the for-profit school are poor job-placement rates, high-pressure sales tactics, low graduation rates, excessive profit margins and the burdening of students with crushing debt

The Illinois attorney general's office is lashing out at Westwood College, which has four Chicago-area campuses, claiming the institution misleads students enrolled in its criminal justice program, putting them deep in debt and saddling them with a nearly worthless degree for pursuing careers in Illinois law enforcement.

[;;;]

The attorney general's office also objects to the cost of a Westwood degree. Tuition to complete a degree in criminal justice totals $71,610, compared with $12,672 from the College of DuPage, which is regionally accredited and is located less than 10 miles from Westwood's DuPage campus, the suit says. It claims Westwood misled students "about the magnitude of the financial burden associated with obtaining their degrees, engaging in a pattern and practice of downplaying the burdens of student loans they advised students to take out."

See should-a went for that Welding training at the City colleges where you can MAYBE land a part-time temporary shovel-ready min-wage $30,000 a year gig and collect food stamps.

Man...can you say rip off...

======

"Many Illinois students who tried to better themselves through a criminal justice education at Westwood now find themselves saddled with more than $50,000 in student loans, and no way to pursue a law enforcement job because their Westwood education was not regionally accredited and therefore was not recognized by other regionally accredited colleges or law enforcement employers, such as the Chicago Police Department, the Illinois State Police and many suburban police departments," the attorney general's office said in the draft of the lawsuit.

The beat car was maintained by the beat cop who gave a shit and kept it clean and running. Now the cars get turns with the asshats that just don't give a shit and leave their trash behind (ie. greasy lunch bags, bags of chips, drink cans/bottles, spit cups from chewing etc.). And don't forget the smokers also get a turn in every car leaving that nasty stench to linger.

wrt: "...anyone noticing the ramping up of the rhetoric regarding g8/nato--...'

----------------------------

I just love how the Chicago Tribune spins the parade permit law changes as though they are isolated to only the G8/NATO Summits.

Look at this story headline, the way it's worded

"Chicago aldermen approve Emanuel's G-8, NATO protest crackdown"

It's not a crackdown that ends when the summits end like the headline implies. It's misleading. It's not only for the G8/NATO. It's a permanent change with no sunset provision.

It's a permanent restriction being placed upon freedom of speech and right to assemble.

The people that are most likely to protest, the unemployed, the homeless, people with no access to health care, people being mistreated by the corporations and the political apparatus like the OEMC layoffs and the people affected by the upcoming union pension changes are having walls constructed around them to prevent any future protesting by making it financially and bureaucratically impossible to do.

This is how Ralm uses a crisis.

It's a crisis just like the 9/11 crisis that has worked oh so well.

Look at all the rights we have given up over the last 11 years from all this fear as a motivator krap. Wiretaps without a warrant, ability to imprison citizens indefinitely without a trial, etc..

The propaganda in the Tribune sets the mindset of: " Oh don't worry about that -- that's some temporary G8 stuff" that's needed to protect us from those violent protestors.

The headline would be more accurate if if read :

Chicago aldermen approve Emanuel's Permanent Free Speech Democracy crackdown.

Let's be serious here who we kidding.

What a surprise that the City council rubber stamped it too by nearly a unanimous margin. We should not forget this come election time.

The corporations political puppet leadership needs to go.

at saying " never let a crisis go to waste" before? Oh yeah that's right it's Rahm's mantra. It's his world afterall and us pawns are merely allowed to exist in it

======================

I call it a mayoral Fatwa. Pawns, chattel also describes it well.

We need to throw these people that think we are here to work for THEM out of office. THEY work for us and it's time they start listening instead of going off on their own little tangents to enrich their friends and comrades.

Vote the incumbents out. From the president down to the alderman we are on the wrong track.

"save our pension Rahm
get rid of gold braid now

1/18/2012 04:15:00 PM"

You are so full of crap that you could never pass a promotion exam with any question beyond, "What is your name?".

How about RAHM, SAVE OUR PENSION PAY THE CITY'S BILLS?

Gold Braid: if a there are patrolmen (D-1s) who have 20 years or more and pay 9% of their base pay into the fund they get their pension based on the last best 4 out of ten years pay. (I think that is right but close enough for this discussion.)

A good portion will make Detective, FTO, or other D-2 position and again pay 9% in and after four years get a pension based that base pay.

A few will work to make Sergeant (D-3) and have more responsibility and pay 9% of that base pay and after four years of that get a pension based on what they earned.

A fewer amount will make Lieutenant (D-4) and take on more responsibility for what they earn and pay 9% of their base pay and a pension based on that after four years.

The same is true with the very few that are appointed Captain, D-5 and pay 9% of that base salary, maybe for ten or more years and get a pension based on what they earned.

Only a very very few will become exempt rank (Gold Braid) personnel and get a paycheck that if you compare it with that of a high level manager of a Fortune 500 Company of similar size is not as great as that sounds. They will pay 9% of that pay with all that added responsibility. There is no Golden Parachute here; they just get what they pay for.

If you start telling people, you earned this, your paid for this but we will not give you what you earned you set up something where something can be taken away for you. Just like what Dan Rostenkowski did with our Social Security.

P.S. I am not a Gold Braid, but I do believe that if you earn something, pay for it, it's yours.

Now an Alderman or other elected official who gets a pension after one or two terms, that's a different story.

Question what's the city do when all is said and done with NATO and g8 and due to the cities lack of preperation for those events a large number of police officers are iod from sustaining injuries from fighting with these jagoffs how in the world will the continue to fully staff the beat cars and keep those cars within the newly formed violence zones within the007th and 11th districts. That's right they won't be able to expect the fall out to continue after the NATO and g8 u think were short on street now just wait for weeks to follow the great dog and pony show that are genius leaders think they can put on

They cant disarm police officers working the Summit you idiot. So If somebody pulls a knife out or a gun and plans to use it against an officer or officers, are we supposed to run and hide or stop him with harsh words? How about somebody throwing fire bombs trying to kill a group of officers, should I scream at him to drop the bomb and when he doesn't listen, I'll have to stand by and watch him murder a dozen or so officers?

MUST READ

There is an email going around from the old timers (relics) who worked the 68 democratic convention.

It displays an official list of pos injured during the "riots" of 68. The list and numbers of pos injured are incredible. Even though some were listed as minor cuts or sprains etc it was not a matter for dismissal.

The list was compiled from IOD records submitted by the injured pos.

One interesting thing to note for all current pos is:

During their tenures on the job after the riots most, not all, of the injured (iod'd) patrolmen listed on record became bosses.

lesson learned:
fill out the iod !!!
then...
insist on your supervisor signed copy and
obtain counsel to sue city for lack of training, proper equipment,
lack of preemptive administrative
support that endangered the safety / lives of the pos assigned.

avoid class action, pay the money and wait

you'll win.

They are telling their employees to be prepared to spend the entire week inside the building as they may not be able to get out. They are stocking up on survival items such as food, water etc. in case it does happen. Management there CANNOT believe the spin City Hall is putting on this.

-------------------

If they really thought there was going to be a significant problem you would think they would minimize the number of people in those buildings during the riots. Probably a good idea in any case, even if there are no riots. It will be a big mess even if the violence is limited.

Other cities in the US have handled it pretty well, mostly. No reason Chicago has to mess it up. but the limited training of CPD on crowd control, coupled with the generally bad supervision and leadership of the department does not give me much hope. It is very hard to stop a riot once it starts. It is also not all that easy to keep one from starting. It can be done, but requires some foresight on the part of the city. That has been in very short supply in this city.

Heard a rumor at work that the brainiacs located at 35th & Michigan are considering the idea of disarming the police working the NATO & G8.
---------------
It might actually be safer for those who are actively engaging rioters. Probably would not be a real popular decision though.

Illinois tax breaks for Jobs b.s.

----

Boeing Job Grab Shows Peril of States Offering Tax Dollars to Spur Growth

Using $43 million in taxpayer money to build a training center for aerospace workers was a good idea for Wichita, Kansas, the self-styled “Aviation Capital of the World,” said Dave Unruh, a Sedgwick County commissioner.

It remains money well-spent, Unruh said, even after Boeing Co. (BA)’s Jan. 4 decision to close its 2,160-employee plant in Wichita, the county seat. Hundreds of those jobs will move to Texas and Oklahoma. He favors putting up as much as $100 million more as a “closing fund” to draw new employers.

“We ought to be run out of office if we don’t respond,” said the Republican, a commissioner since 2003. “We have a community DNA for aviation assets and we’re going to compete.” Still, Unruh didn’t know where the money would come from.
-----

Hahaha..damn straight! Money well spent?? Run them out of office for throwing good money after bad. Trying to cover up the mistakes. They still don't get it do they? The cover-up is always worse then the initial act.

story continues as it points to Illinois...

---------

llinois, which Moody’s Investors Service rates lower than any other state, agreed in May to provide $100 million in payroll credits to Motorola Mobility Inc. over the next decade to keep the company based in the state. Last month, lawmakers guaranteed $15 million in state tax breaks for Sears Holdings Inc. to retain its headquarters. Sears subsequently announced plans to shut in more than 100 locations.

[...]

Illinois lawmakers last January approved record increases in personal and corporate-income taxes. On Dec. 13, they passed rate rollbacks for exchange operators CME Group Inc. (CME) and CBOE Holdings Inc. (CBOE), both based in Chicago, after threats of relocations. A study by Bloomberg Rankings said the state’s pension system had assets to cover just 45 percent of promised benefits in 2010, less than the median of almost 75 percent.
