Drinking is OK Again

Bulls game:

So were these tickets a gift? Because those seats are usually owned by ultra rich bigwigs and corporations. And the Ethics Test we're all required to take has pretty strict limits on gifts over $50.

We noticed a few extra streetlights seemed to be out on Madison Street the other night, too.

That is sufficient evidence for termination according to the ethics ordinance. Maybe some should motion the FOP to call the inspector general for a investigation to be opened up. Maybe McCarthy wants to get fired before the G8 fiasco.

Im a working guy... i work to pay for those that are less fortunate....people need help that's fine. but i don't need to be risking my life for people that have zero disregard for human life...tax payers should be out raged that their hard earned money is being spent trying to prevent violence in districts that are notorious for having little regard to human life. while good honest tax payers hope that police can make it to them in time while violet crimes are in progress. example 5800 n Oconto. we need to stand up and demand that we the tax payer be represented. we pay the bills. our safety first

Right about now, McBustedOnLiveTv is writing a post-dated check payable to some Emanuel lackey who 'owns' those season tickets. Said check to be returned to him in cash down the road a bit when this incident, like all others, is eventually forgotten about. Don't forget to write something clever on the 'memo' line, Gare.

You guys are missing the point. While its true that it is just "a" beer, remember the general orders state that we shall refrain from being intoxicated in public. If you get in any trouble which some assume is the equivalent of stepping on your dick you're going to have to blow. This is where you are wrong. We would have to blow even if its not stepping on your dick. What if you witness something and act within your duties? You run the risk of being ordered to blow. Sure if you're on the right side with your actions you will most likely be ok, but technically speaking, there is a possibility of having to blow. Now we all know that Illinois considers intoxicated to operate a motor vehicle to be .08 which is less than one drink for a lot of people. So to clarify we are bound to adhere to the standards that the rest of the state follows to operate a vehicle. Is this right? Hell no, but this is our "leader" who is supposed to lead by example which this guy doesn't get. Previous bosses knew this and refrained from drinking in public because of the example it set. Sure we all know about the bosses night at certain bars but they aren't rubbing the troops' faces in it.

I DVRd that game, during which cameras panned past McSuds at least 8-10 times.

On every instance he could be seen leaning forward smelling the hair of that blonde sportscaster in the next row, then recoiling when he sensed the camera was nearby.

The first couple of times he tried to play it off like he was talking to her. The next few times be made it look like he was reacting to a questionable foul against the Bulls. But there was no disguising the last time - he unbuttoned and reached into his shirt near his waist. Emerging with the lint from his belly button, he flicked it onto her left shoulder and then used it as an excuse to once again lean forward and put his beak in her lockes.

What a weirdo.

Are we honoring those who came before us and teaching those who came after us? No matter what the media says, no matter what some of the public says, no matter what some of us say, this in an honorable profession. The silent majority in this department agrees. A regular blue shirt has certain worries and concerns every time he steps out his door. Exempts should incur the same worries, concerns and the aggravation that comes with them.

But they don't...

That's what has a lot of coppers bent out of shape about this... The whole "hooray for me & fuck you" attitude of the clouted and exempted.

G-mac is a high paid gold star gypsy who deserves all the scrutiny we can give him before he loads up his gaudily painted Compstat wagon and takes his "smartest police ceo ever" sideshow elsewhere to inflict chaos, affliction and misery.

The blue shirt will keep rolling from call to call and trying to survive.

Nice to see G-mac's loyal followers here in sizeable numbers to shout everybody down on this topic.

9.5 taught him well...

The gold stars owing allegiance to the people pimp-walking this formerly great organization to a stand-still would have to have THEIR lives and careers destroyed on a pretext(the dreaded fate of the blue shirt) before a cease-fire in the war against the cares and concerns of regular Coppers is called.

War is only fun for the people who feel above any collateral damage or casualties. They'll sue for terms when enough of THEIR cares and concerns are seen rotting in the sun...(Vicious analogy but so be it.)

A mere blue shirt would be very loudly & very PUBLICLY (hello anal-whore local media) lynched from the Picasso for this or any other seeming impropriety caught on tape or film.

He serves a mayor and administration that believes we should earn less than an employee from McDonald's and would abolish every benefit we earn if that meant putting more money in their pockets. We don't have "private" lives- we are agents of the public trust, like elected officials, and are subject to public scrutiny. However, unlike elected officials, e.g. McCarthy, we are crucified and demonized because it is easier, more newsworthy, and do not have allegiances with those in power. You can bet that he was drinking more than one beer AND was carrying his weapon AND had another officer driving him around, on OUR tax dollar. If it was average Joe Copper out watching a game and having a drink and some sh*thead attacked him on his way home and the media got a hold of it, you can bet your balls McCarthy would be on the 6pm news advocating a full investigation reciting all those holier than thou dept. orders about sobriety on/off duty. I guess I would be too if he wasn't kissing ass with all the radical Father Hypocrits out there, helping to stir the pot, throwing coppers in front of the bus for bullshit.... I'm not talking the ones I'd throw to the wolves, they are few and far between.

Time will tell, his boozing and skirt chasing will blow up one day... remember you heard it hear first.

This site sometimes really makes me wonder what coppers are all about, since when is it a crime to be seen with a beer inyour hand at a sports event, big deal the camera panned in on him because he is the Supt. of Police. He does have a private life to some extent, would you like it if a camera saw you at an event and you were drinking, your first thought is so what I'm not doing anything wrong. I'm not a fan of his ,but he does have a whole lot of personalities to deal with each day and I bet he never thoguht that this job was that tough, and we Chicago Coppers can be quite tough on others when things don't go exactly as planned. He is working for every dime that he is being paid trust me.

off topic, a 3rd watch sgt (deep voice) from 017 Pat E. is telling third watch officers to check off at 0020 hrs because he is scared of the new inspectors. is this going on elsewhere?

I Think you have won the douche bag of the year award!
Congrats. Your prize is everyone thinks you are the dumbest officer on the watch and everyone now hates you for this moronic comment.

He is OFF DUTY! Give him a break.
You guys don't ever stop for just ONE?
This is only shows him drinking ONE beer. He's not in uniform either.
This is his PRIVATE life. Can't he just be allowed to relax after work.
At the end of the day, he's just a cop like us. He deserves to UNWIND after a stressful day of dealing with the public.
...and Rham.

1/30/2012 12:23:00 AM

No! No break. He was driving a city car with alcohol on board. Pull a CR number. And you can go to hell.

See the problem is, most to all us officers have no problem with super enjoying a bulls game with a couple of beers, I'm getting the impression from actually meeting him and what others have told me is he's a real person, and a cop. Our focus should be on IPRA and city hall, they hate us and it's not ok to them. The low moral, being fucked with, stress, this job going to shit, g8, low manpower is all the city 's mismanagement and liberal infrastructure who view the police as a expendable dumb racist worth nothing servant, ready to be fired on a whim,, that's are problem.

Right, at a minimum of $500 a ticket for a Pacers game.

You think McCarthy is going to lay out at least $500 for those? Per seat.

Question about the seat gift issue: my Cubs season tickets (yeah, I'm an idiot, blah blah blah) have many dates where the cost of the seat is over $50. If I bring one of my cop relatives or buddies with me to the game, on me, do they have to report it as a gift? Just wondering.

I hate to break it to you but...

No one cares about 005. No one has since about '78.

No, they don't. It's not a gift in the course of their employment.

ETHICS VIOLATION....

1/30/2012 02:33:00 PM
You can say this is an ethics violation along with the complimentary box seats at the major ball parks, but read the city ethics ordinances. You will not find anything in there that points to these as ethics violations. Then, look at what the ethics board has done in the past 15 years: nothing ! Truth be told, the oridinance needs to be rewritten with some teeth in it. But, don't hold your breath. And, dont expect any ethiics laws to apply to the alderman and city elected officials.
