Another Bright Idea

  • In Egypt, cell phones, text messages and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter were such powerful protest organizing tools, they helped topple a government.

Ald. Ricardo Munoz (22nd) wants to make certain the same tools are available to Chicago protesters during the May 19-21 NATO and G-8 summits.

At the Feb. 15 City Council meeting, Munoz plans to introduce legislation that would prohibit the Chicago Police Department from attempting to cut off access to social networking sites and cell phone networks during the back-to-back summits at McCormick Place — even though Chicago Police say they have no such plans.

Newsflash for Munoz - Egypt was and continues to be a totalitarian regime. They can shut down networks and the infrastructure easily. Not so much here in the U.S. But hey, he wouldn't be a Crook County democrat if he wasn't trying to tell everyone exactly how to live their lives.

There is technology to block cell phones but it isn’t like you can just point it at the demonstrators. You can jam the radio signal but that would affect everyone – police included.

They can block websites too by redirecting the DNS but you can’t do that easily so it will only affect certain IP addresses. They would need the cooperation of the Internet service providers and even that isn’t a sure thing if the user makes use of a proxy server, which is quite easy to do. The best way to block a domain name is at the root of the Internet the way the (in)Justice Department does it – but that blocks it for everyone.

Wouldn’t it be a gas if they compelled the local service providers to block facebook. Liberals love their social networks and they’d cry like school girls if they were cut off.

I find it absolutely shocking that leftist politicians such as our president, mayor, or aldermen would support violent communist movements such as these. For those that still don't get it, the government that we work for supports the movement that we are expected to police as they destroy our city. Do you honestly believe that anyone will have your back if you use necessary force to defend private property, other officers, or yourself? Think about it. Let this city burn.

One endorsing group, which calls itself the Committee to Stop FBI Repression, is also a main organizer of the protests being scheduled for Chicago’s NATO and G-8 summits in May.

The anti-FBI Committee is led by Tom Burke. It has been seeking to lead activism against the FBI’s reported ongoing terror probes of Chicago and Minnesota anti-war groups.

Burke, a former school custodian-turned-stay-at-home-father, belongs to the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, a group mentioned in subpoenas and search warrants issued in the same FBI terror probe.

WND previously reported Obama has ties to the Chicago anti-war activists and groups being probed by the FBI, including Hatem Abudayyeh, the executive director of the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN.

WND was first to report that Obama, while serving as a paid director of the far-left nonprofit Chicago Woods Fund, provided two grants to the AAAN.

Obama served at the Woods Fund alongside Weather Underground terrorist-group founder Bill Ayers.

AAAN was founded by a longtime Obama associate, Columbia University Professor Rashid Khalidi. Khalidi’s wife, Mona, is president of the Arab American Action Network.

Yes, the Munoz family , at least the father, was an illegal immigrant and ran a business making conterfeit ID for other illegal immigrants. The other half of the story is that the commanders of 010 and the tactical lieutenants and many of the tact guys and other knew about this business for years. The commanders and the tact lieutenants and at least one watch commander refused to do a damn thing about it. They also refused to touch the many nightclubs, bars and taverns who sold to minors because many of the local politicians owned pieces of these clubs. The corruption wass everywhere.

Well first of all there is a federal law to prevent just that. Only the President of the U.S. can give such an order. This power was recently given to him by a majority vote in congress. There is no way the City of Chicago can shut down the cell sites.

Oh wait, I forgot the Mayor of Chicago is exempt from federal laws.

As far as defending myself and others officers you can count on it no matter what the city says.

Regarding private property unless it is mine they can do what ever they want to it. They can steal it, break, crush or smash it. they can tag it, paint it, piss on it and even burn it if they wish.
