No More School Officers?

This comment appeared after the School Officers got bitten late last week:
  • Last week the schools opted to remove officers all together here in 11 and the powers that be decided the schools that do have officers still do this... one inside officer and one officer outside in a squad car the outside Guy is to patrol the area and take jobs (not school jobs) close to the area
Makes perfect sense to....wait Aw F it im going back to bed

We made a few calls and it appears to be true.

What seems to have happened is that the school principals were offered a choice:

  1. Keep your assigned school officers or
  2. give them up and we'll give you a portion of the money spent on their salaries.

Evidently, the CPS would reimburse the CPD for the salaries of officers assigned to the school. If the principals see dollar signs and can get a few grand to spend on their own pet projects, well....

And if a few officers get bit during the course of the day? Well, we'll be out of the school business shortly.

Top three schools for calls for service x 2 assigned officers in a roaming vehicle per school (assist Beat car and join the wealth in answering calls for service until dismissal times). No need for a school Sgt. Waste of talent!!! Beat Sgt + Caps Sgt is enough.

No need for assigned officers and two roaming 10-4 manned vehicles. That's equal to rapid response!!

In some Districts that can be the difference of 3-4 vehicles free for jobs and assist.

And, anyway:

MANY cars are down for school dismissals!!!

It is CPS responsibility to provide security including safe passage for students in, out, and around schools. Right?!!

It's all about the money baby!

Just a few short weeks ago the State of Illinois implemented that rear seat belt law too. The political apparatus granted the CPD the ability to extract fines and fees from the easy marks of the sanctuary city. The middle class working joe.

The political apparatus told us that the new seat belt law would not apply to school buses because the school bus companies would not stand for it -- and it would hurt profits. It was just to expensive.

(Anyone else see through this: "it's for the safety of the children and if it saves just one live then it's worth it" b.s. when it comes to more speed cameras.?

Anyways. I digress.

Today a school bus rolled over in Naperville sending a bunch of kids to the E.R. and guess what?

Do you see one word in the press about the kids not wearing their seat belts because there are no seat belts to wear?

Nope! Not one So much for the safety of the children -- no-one is outraged that they dodged a bullet and apparently no-one was seriously hurt as far as we know.

See if you pull a school bus over you can't write tickets on the kids. The kids have no money to pay the fines. You have to go after the people trying to earn a living. They're the ones with the money. Pass another "law' and find another scam to take it away 'legally' -- the moral bankrupt bastards. Vote them out!

Dumb-ass politicians creating their election drama. Don't let 'em distract us. We have enough laws. There's enough laws on the books that they do not enforce. That they pick and choose when it's convenient to maintaining their social status.

Seriously this is a HUGE safety issue. A lot of these high schools are like zoos. No way in hell a solo officer should be assigned to work inside. The department needs to tell CPS it's either 2 officers or none. 1 is simply not an option. If need be then FOP needs to step in because there otherwise there will be more instances of officers being surrounded and attacked.

If the department goes with this idiotic idea of having one officer in the school and one outside to basically patrol and answer calls-leaves the inside officer to deal with these honor students, is a huge safety issue. I for one would not want to be inside by myself to break up a fight! Doesn't anyone think that there aren't any honor students who are chomping at the bit to take a cheap shot at a P.O. especially when there is a melee? Here's how it works. The school principal had 3 choices: leave both school officers inside the school and get NO $$$, kick ONE school officer out and get a one-time only $45,000 check or kick them both out and get a one-time only check for like 50k.
Alot of schools (like Chicago Academy) opted for the single buy-out assuming that for "safety reasons" the commander would still keep the 2nd officer in the school on "his dime". That way they get to keep BOTH officers AND get a nice little check to misappropriate.
In the case of Chicago Academy, the (former) Commander pulled the 2nd officer out and the principal has a FIT. She screamed to the CPS that her school was abandoned by 016 and that "kids are going to get killed" because of the commanders decisions.

This is a HUGE cutback; what, was it part of the G8 planning? Christ, in this town leftover Daley PR flacks and whores are given huge projects they can't handle, and then they scoff at any emergency plans as "doomsday thinking."

What, have they already freaked and locked those ambos away somewhere so Occupy won't turn them over in the street and light them?

What,

What,

What the f__k planet are we on?

Meanwhile, down in Rio de Janeiro, a ten-story high-rise tipped over and hit a fifteen-story high-rise which hit a twenty-story high rise. (Something like that.)

"All fall down!"

Attributed to "shoddy construction." No kidding.

...and they've got an Olympics coming, and are using the Brazilian Army as cheap slave labor to build the "infrastructure."

With all due respect to the Deputy Chief, he was a great boss and a great person. I have very personal stories that are strictly professional. I just have an issue with our Superintendent doing that, and in that manner. This is not a common thing, an Exempt member dying while still on the job, so I know we don't have a lot of history with this, but I really think that he took a tragic thing and tried to use it for self gain, He knows we love the Deputy Chief, now he jumping on the band wagon to show us he is doing something for him after death! I guess so -- since people like CPS "liberals" did so much to destroy not only the extended, then the nuclear family and the manufacturing base which gave it life, but also wiped away morality, decency, and civilized behavior in general.

YEAAAAAAAAAH! WHOOPEE!

De-police the schools! Fascist pig oppressors out of the People's Multicultural Academy!

Thank God.

You motherf__ers in there deal with the screaming and stink and wild animals throwing s__t.

800 of em tryin to jam through the doors of one bus at the same time, like an asteroid was going to hit or something. Complete mass panic every single day, like they'd never gone home before. Don't look for your pass until you are actually on the steps, blocking them.

Of course they ran right past the school "facilities" two minutes ago -- too busy hitting each other in the head -- and NOW everyone suddenly needs a bathroom.

It must be the excitement.

Someone tell that disgusting fat parasite who looks like she has stuff living in her hair to get on the horn and agitate for her precious teachers to be issued with body armor and put in Plexiglas boxes at the front of the classroom, with an armored pass-through thing for the "students" to turn in their homework.

After all, isn't a teacher's life worth as much as that of a cab driver or liquor store clerk?

It is demonstrably true, from looking at simple retail stores in some areas, that school security is almost nonexistent compared to what they have at a hamburger joint or gas station. This situation should be remedied before teachers begin to sue for damages when they are injured.

Where will the money come from? I dunno. Use those new Daley-meters to raise ghetto parking to $100/hour "to fairly distribute costs, reflecting local demand for programs and services."

People who can afford cell phones, moon shoes, designer jackets, $100 weaves, gold chains, and nail art for nine-year-olds can freaking well pay to get them into school every day. Put turnstiles at the door.

Maybe teaching should be done by volunteers -- since they affect to believe so fervently in the poison they dish out along with ABCs.

Here -- look. Look at the results of "do your own thing."

Simpson Clinic Opens to Help Pregnant CPS Students

FOX Chicago News

"Chicago - Chicago Public School students who are pregnant have a new resource to help them stay in school.

"CPS officials cut the ribbon Friday on a new health clinic connected to the Simpson Academy for Young Women. Simpson is a school for pregnant teens and young mothers."

"The new on-site clinic wil be run by the Rush University College of Nursing..."

Unbelievable. Complete, slide-in, lateral replacement for the family. Click!

Of course, the cost of this will not be added to innocent people's already-unbelievable hospital bills.

*

Perhaps, in the same spirit, Wackenhut or some other huge outfit can provide "free" security guards to the schools, to replace police.

TANSTAAFL. Ultimately, there's some poor son-of-a-bitch somewhere shoveling coal to pay for someone else's ice cream -- whether they even belong in the country or not is immaterial -- being taxed to death and stolen from by banks with their "below minimum deposit" fees designed to clean out the working poor, by supermarkets with their not-so-gradually shrinking package sizes...

Things can't go on like this. As they blab today, there is no "robustness," no "sustainability."

What will be the final solution?

We got a real drama going here, huh?

...and you can make that $200 an hour around St. Sabina's and other megachurches. All the fantastic Hollywood sound systems and lighting, all the Escalades and fine new suits -- all that cash money in the collection plate that disappears through the door to the back office -- should soothe anyone's qualms about "grinding the poor."

The revs got bank. This is where all the marching and chanting and yelling come from -- all the endless, impossible demands, more and more and more in the middle of a depression when working people are getting thrown into the street and are literally going crazy from the strain of day-to-day survival -- so this is logically where we should start hittin around with a stick to pay for it all.

They have done this before. The schools who opted to take the cash still expected CPD to come and handle every little thing for them. And when we did not respond quickly enough or handle the situation the way they thought is should be handled they file complaints. The administration of the schools who kept the money have the same entitlement mentality of those they are tasked to educate. Bottom line is that you can't educate those who do not wish to be educated. The parents of these animals are the problems. Animals beget animals.

CPS hamstrings the Public School Security Officers, and in a lot of the schools the Principals prevent the security guards from doing anything more than Operate the Metal Detectors and check doors.

The other half of the CPS Security problem is that SEIU (their union) doesn't push for more enforcement powers inside.

School Security in some states are allowed to Carry on Duty/In Uniform and are deputized by the City Police so that they don't have to do anything other than send a bus to pick up the criminal
(juvenile delinquent is such a BS term)

PLEASE guys and gals, equip yourselves with a tourniquet, Emergency Battle Dressing, Hemostatic Agent (Quikclot or Celox), and some other inexpensive supplies, learn how to use them (see Spartan Tactical's website), and be prepared to self-evacuate a wounded PO. Ask an Iraq or Afghanistan vet to help you learn some basic lifesaving skills!

1/28/2012 12:17:00 AM

Amazon has some good basic equipment and supplies. A good tourniquet and quick clot, dressings, bandages, scissors and tape. Enough to get to an ER or an ALS ambulance

North American Rescue Products and Chinook Medical are also good places to get gear. The military has been using the IFAK with excellent sucess for the past 10 years. A combat tourniquet, a good pressure dressing, gauze, tape, gloves, and a nasal airway cover all the things you can do to save those who can be saved.
Just remember, the best gear is useless unless you know how to use it. There are several local companies that provide good training. If you don't want to spend the money, find an officer with military or civilian medical training. There are a lot of officers who have worked on an ambulance or been downrange to Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan. Get the training on the gear you buy and be careful out there.

How the fuck would you know unless you of course, being a sergeant, went to a school to log said officers and found this to be true and you in turn DID YOUR JOB AND WROTE A SPAR ON THE OFFICERS. STFU about shit you dont know nothing about but have to make up....bitch!!!

Blair Holt, 16 was shot to death on a CTA bus at 103rd Lowe on Thursday-10 MAY 07 after classes ended for the day at Julian High School.

Derrion Albert, 16 was beaten to death with a wood 2X6 board on Thursday-24 SEP 09 in the area of Fenger High School, after classes ended for the day.

"...the school principals were offered a choice: Keep your assigned school officers or give them up and we'll give you a portion of the money spent on their salaries."

Whoa.

REALITY CHECK

I myself am a product of the Chicago Public Schools. I went K-through-8 AND ONLY SAW A POLICEMAN IN THE SCHOOL ONCE DURING MY ENTIRE EDUCATION THERE.

...and he was just a kindly railroad copper, come to show us kids a safety film, the message of which was to stay off the tracks.

Things sure have changed. Today, a half-dozen officers are needed merely to keep the doors from being torn from their hinges at starting and dismissal times -- and it's not as if anyone inside that building even notices anything that's directed at them through the whole intervening school day. Too busy acting the fool.

Now, you tell me exactly who it is who has engineered a society in which a child kills people with a gun -- and has a "pastor" who comes to help him turn himself in, but no father.

A society in which motherf__ers be duct-taping babies and putting it up on the World Wide Web.

Proof positive that you can have a computer but no brain.

"Digital divide" -- get real. Handing out "free" laptops won't change a thing.

Like a stolen bike or empty plastic cup, like textbooks and fresh fruit pushed on you by well-meaning people who don't get it -- like everything else you didn't work for and don't understand or care about, there goes that laptop and all its alleged "career opportunities" and "bright future," busted on the cement with the cracked screen all bluish-greenish-grayish, while its former owner goes running off shouting nonsense -- running, running like crazy down the gangway after something no normal person can ever quite see.

I never seen it, and I been watchin real close for a lot longer than I like to admit. I bet you never seen it either.

It's always just out of sight, around the corner where you hear the bottles breaking.

Don't run up on it too fast yourself. The whole crew you're chasin always gets by it, but it will stop and be there waiting for your a__ in particular.

Just looked up at TV news, winter sports -- Skokie PD out hunting burglars at night. Stocking caps, M4s, dogs. Movin two by two. Mind the ice. You go around one side of that big pine bush and I take the other, workin between the houses...glaring yard light in your eyes/black shadow, light/shadow...

Mm. Someone around, someone dropped a work glove in the snow...

Take a second. Clear your mind. Look at partner. Both on same page? Loose and low and slow. Look lots. Stay safe.

God bless all here.

"Do you see one word in the press about the kids not wearing their seat belts because there are no seat belts to wear? "

The reasons why the kids don't wear seatbelts on buses are as follows:

1. the kids would just smack each other with them.
2. the seats are high enough, and soft enough, that they're not getting hurt.
and
3. In the event of a really nasty accident, it enables them to get off the bus quickly. those buses fill up with smoke very quickly, padding burns very nasty black smoke, and the bus design is such that the smoke and fire fill that bus fast.

The westside is not what it use to be so enough with the typical westside tuff guy talk. It gets pretty annoying. Ive worked recently in places much harder and tougher than the "wild wild westside". I'm assuming you're about 40 or so. We had metal detectors, on-duty CPD, off duty CPD, and off-duty COs from 26th and Cal...and I went to a good school that sent kids to Northwestern, U of C, Dartmouth, Oxford and so on. It's still CPS though so we had our fair share of gang fights, guns at the school, murdered and incarcerated classmates. That's generally public school for you in Chicago, maybe minus the academic and extracurricular programs we had.
