Businesses On Their Own

  • Stores on State Street and North Michigan Avenue should have security outside their doors during the NATO and G-8 Summits — and downtown companies should offer their employees the option of working from home — to avoid conflicts with thousands of protesters, a business leader warned Tuesday.

Jerry Roper, president of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, said businesses need to plan ahead and prepare for the worst in the event the demonstrations turn ugly during the summits May 19-21.

And Andrew Breitbart's Big Government website links the Occupy people to this summer's events:

  • While many laughed off Occupy Wall Street and predicted it would not last, the puppet masters have made their next move. We now have the evidence to prove that the early phase of the movement was nothing more than a staging period to build an infrastructure that will culminate in a massive occupation of Chicago this May. The strategy to descend upon Chicago’s NATO/G8 Summits has now been made loud and clear, as evidenced from a recent call to arms for revolutionaries around the world to flock to Chicago in May, as well as details regarding Occupy Chicago’s internal communications
The bad vibes just keep growing.

I remember, years ago when a white family was brutally beaten almost in front of the 009th Dist by a violent man, who was motivated by hate for white people. The offender was black and he beat the dad to death, and brain damaged the daughter. Her boyfriend was also struck but ran away. Roeper went out of his way to make this incident NOT APPEAR to be a hate crime. In other instances he has shown his dissdain for police and love for the impoverished. His ego has become so huge that it is shocking to some of his closest people at FOP even though none of them would say anything. Some of his team members at FOP are becoming more and more divided over there at the FOP Hall and it is going to cost Mikey in the next election. Watch someone he brought over to run against him.

More spin-doctoring. The real dates are as follows:

19-20 May - G8
15-22 May - Nato

The SIMULTANEOUS dates are the three-day weekend, but the whole thing goes on much longer than that weekend (a full week).

Also, most delegates and their entourages spend more time than that, visiting, touring and conducting other business. This translates to the protestors spending more time here, too. Setting up, planning, entrenching, well, they all take a few days of prep work beforehand.

Buckle in. And, don't buy the three-day hype. WAY more than three, folks.

In the meantime what if some of these people get hurt? Who pays for their treatment when they have no benefits, i.e., medical, etc.

The big word you left out is: LEGALLY!

That’s right, Legally. Who’s going to cover the Vet that fucks up one of these stinky hippy protesters? The Vet knocks the ever lovin’ shit out of the protester, do you think that The Gap is going to cover that kids ass when it comes to court? The Apple Store is going to pay for the Lawyer for the former Marine who tosses the anaconda on an anarchist and chokes the shit out of him? F-U-C-K N-O! That Vet will be hung out to dry. And the way this county is, Anita “Beady Eyes” Alverez will hit them with Agg Batt charges.

One guy on here asked “Will they be armed”? Oh, you better hope not! You can’t go shooting into a crowd of UN ARMED people! This is Chicago, kid. The Politicians don’t want you to win. Its all a write-off for them. The Government is picking up the tab; Chicago is going to bill the hell out of Uncle Sam. After all, who is signing the check?

1. You are a idiot and I hope you are not the police and if you are I hope you don't work the street.

2. Protesters will start to arrive late April early May to set up, dig in and get the lay of the land. There is only so much you can gain by looking at videos of the city. Half to 3/4 of the protesters will be professionals. Thats right PROFESSIONAL. From around the world. Plan for 50 to 100,000 people minimum. Do the math.

3. The City better give the protesters a area to protest in and a route to march which is the only area they can LAWFULLY GATHER in and march. Keep the time frame window wide and open, example 10am 10pm. Work the logistics out, if not then Chicago will be torn apart. Can you think of riots except not in the ghetto ala LA Both times.

4. If you must give them grant park to hold everyone and if you do; and you should; then you have outside sworn law enforcement agencies country wide supplement CPD and deploy them on the routes the protesters MUST take and any and everywhere else they may be needed. They are the police. If the protesters deviate from the route then arrest them. Keep it simple. Keep order. No Breech of the peace while hiding behind first amendment rights.

5. Im for first amendment rights except when they infringe on others first amendments rights and if your first amendment rights infringe, depress/suppresses others thats when "YOU GET ARRESTED."

5. Expect chaos and be ready to deal with it. Have first aid triage area(s) set up for the first responders along with relief areas and ready stations for a rapid deployment strike force whose job is to clear space. If goes without saying that there will be minimum 2 staging areas for mass arrests and a convoy to move them out to a large lockup.

Its going to be rough and the thinking and planning of it should reflect that and if doesnt get out of hand then we dodged the bullet. Plan for it to get out of hand and get outside agencies in here to help.

6. Everyone have a contingency plan for on and off the job during this time. Stay safe.

Breitbart is an idiot.

Rahmbo is an idiot for agreeing to have these conferences in Chicago.

The potential downside is bigger than the potential upside.

I'm not worried about the OWS types. They're about as dangerous as the antiwar protesters in 2003. If the exempts don't herd them on to Lake Shore Drive and then detain/arrest them for being on Lake Shore Drive they will be little more than an annoyance. Of course maybe one of them will try to hold a press conference without Rahmbo's permission and then all hell may break lose.

What we need to worry about is the few hundred professional anarchists who will show up. Those idiots follow these types of conferences around the world and damage property at every one.

They need to be dealt with like the Europeans dealt with soccer hooligans who traveled around for games and then rioted. Investigated, followed, and barred from traveling during the games.

The ones that do make it here need to be immediately grabbed and thumped appropriately. That means thousands of riot trained cops or National Guardsman from throughout the country young enough, tough enough and fast enough to go toe to toe with the few hundred assholes.

They throw a brick through a window they get grabbed. They try to throw a molotov cocktail they get the Blucher treatment.

See this at 5:13.

Security for business in the soon to be Combat-Zone of downtown Chicago should be hired from private Security Firms, via FOP # 7, not use the active on-duty CPD, who will be undermanned, and on 12+ hour days anyway depending on circumstances. There are plenty of Cops from the burbs, and retired CPD Cops, who would be able to work these Security jobs and appreciate a few extra bucks temporarily. FOP should be doing something to see that dues paying CPD Lodge members, both Active AND Retired, get first crack at any of this, then suburban FOP members, etc. Crook County Cops and Troopers could continue to man the Jails and be Traffic Nazis...

Ok this brings up a great point. Those meters screwed our city. They were brought to us by the evil 1%'er Banksters of Morgan Stanley.

If you read enough of #OWS, you learn that they spawned from Adbusters. Adbusters gets money from George Soros, an evil 0.1%'er (yes, I just coined that term!). Rahm Emanuel (a 1%'er too) loves Soros so much he praised him in open Congress.

Conspire this:

The Democrat Media Complex is finally reporting that liberal billionaire and Obama’s best friend, George Soros, is funding the Occupy Wall Street protests.

Additionally, the Soros funded Working Families Party, is running a jobs ad on Craig’s list for activists to help fight Wall Street.

George Soros has been a supporter of Obama since he decided to run for president in 2007.

I don't know where you guys are getting this info on Roeper but he is a huge supporter of the Chicago Police. Has come out and supported us at many of our events for the Memorial Foundation..

Are you freakin' joking? In reality, Roeper is a liberal.

Being a liberal and being a police supporter may actually be the original situation for which the term "mutually exclusive" was coined.

What liberals support, by definition, precludes them from supporting law enforcement, at least actual police officers.

We already knew that Congressman Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts) and other lawmakers such as Representative Rahm Emanuel (D-Illinois) have been close to liberal philanthropist George Soros for years, but a Sept. 7, 2004 letter on Frank’s website shows just how close.

Here is one passage from the incredibly solicitous letter (available as a PDF file here) signed by Frank and 10 other lawmakers:

We have been particularly troubled by the McCarthyite attacks that have been made on you by some American politicians, including colleagues of ours, who have gone far beyond the reasonable bounds of civil discourse in their efforts to discredit you.

Roeper is a cop hating Liberal from way back. Remember he spends much of his time in Hollywood dealing with Rahm's brother out there. Roe is pro-police, but putting Roeper on that show was a big mistake,

C'mon "Dave". Please.

Don't mean "slavish devotion"...just mean on the same page most of the time.

Libs support what libs support. And that, regardless of how you want to spin it, ain't the police. Unless of course your definition of support is "don't throw 'em under the bus until they actually have to crack somebody".

If you wanna be a lib, fine, be one. Just don't pretend you support traditional american values, the military or law enforcement, because you don't.

As a copper, I resent your fake agenda more than those that just admit they hate me. At least I know where I stand.

What about Bill Cozzi, "Dave"? Didn't he get outright fucked? What about profiling, "Dave"? That's a lib agenda item, your leader Obamao himself passed that bag of shit. What about affirmative action, "Dave"? That's done more to shitterize CPD than the political kow-towing to the revs and the entitlement guzzling non-working masses...well, maybe about the same.

Admit it, "Dave". Either you aren't pro-cop or you aren't a lib.

1-"Dave" is my actual name, no need for scare quotes.

2-I am definitely a liberal by the lights of anyone here, and I am generally very much pro-police unless I see a good reason not to be in favor of an INDIVIDUAL officer for his or her actions.

3- "If you wanna be a lib, fine, be one. Just don't pretend you support traditional american values, the military or law enforcement, because you don't. "

But the fact is I do, as do all of my liberal friends. The scary, evil all-powerful liberal that so many here fear is almost non-existant.

I don't hate you, or cops, or soldiers, or conservatives, or anyone, simply for being that. My very liberal core value is that I must take each individual as I find them.

We probably differ a LOT of our definition of "traditional American values," though.

Not really *scare* quotes, more like a play on the joke of using the name of one who in actuality remains cloaked in anonymity...there are a whole lot of Dave's in Chicago...but I certainly believe that is your name, so I won't use the scare quotes again.

2-I am definitely a liberal by the lights of anyone here, and I am generally very much pro-police unless I see a good reason not to be in favor of an INDIVIDUAL officer for his or her actions.

So like a liberal. You are qualified to excoriate those that don't live up to your liberal values...for example using force to effect an arrest...when you in actuality have absolutely no idea just how difficult it is to take a a resisting subject into custody.

I'm sure you believe that you do. I can also say that I take everyone at face value and only let their actions dictate my reaction. The truth is I don't just stumble around the city with hairy knuckles dragging in the dirt as I look for minorities to plant evidence on, or innocent teenagers just turning their lives around to gleefully execute. I am around hipsters and left wingers constantly and most don't ever know what I believe, but I do listen to their day to day ranting and they do not, emphatically DO NOT support the police or the military. I actually believe you may be a rare one that actually thinks you do, but sorry, don't believe there is any way that "all your friends" (a quote not a scary highlight) that are libs are police and military supporters.

We probably differ a LOT of our definition of "traditional American values," though.

I'm sure we do...I'm very sure we do.

Officer, I will give you fifty bucks if the moderator here on SCC can dig up one comment by me wherein I "excoriate those who don't live up to my liberal values." If SCC finds it I will send him the check and trust him to get it to you. If the case is iffy I will let SCC be the judge as to whether you won the bet.

If I win, you post here the simple admission that "liberal" does not automatically or always mean bad, evil, stupid or un-american.

I know that I could NEVER face what cops face all the time. Or firefighters. Or EMTs. Or soldiers. My life has been relatively safe, in large measure thanks to people who CAN face this shit, and I freely admit it. My admiration for first-responders of all types is real, and I have no problem at all with cops using all necessary force to apprehend a suspect who resists. I have seen cops on the street in Chicago being nicer to assholes than I would be in their shoes.

And in AP I think Jose is a lot more common a name than Dave....

you obviously do NOT listen to them. Roe Conn is very supportive of ALL police and has donated money to our memorial foundation. Both he and Roeper, and the show in general, are supportive of our military and their causes, especially the Wounded Warrior Project, Heart of a Marine, and Toys for Tots. I haven't listened to Meier much, so I will not comment on his support. A lesson maybe you should learn.

You know Dave, I believe you probably have a good heart and mean well. I don't despise liberals necessarily, I do despise liberals that who are so stuck in their hipster cocoon of cool that they riducule all that don't agree. And that partner, is a lot of libs...a very lot. The patronizing tone and assumption of correctness in any of a plethora of unsettled theories is infuriating to me. I do feel liberalism is destroying the nation, one example is the outright, explosive, blinding in it's shining glory failure of the "great society". We've enslaved generations and created a huge underclass of entitlement that only sticks out hands and demands more. I just heard that in a very short time the tipping point of voters will be reached where those that receive government largesse outnumber those that contribute. I'm no genius but I have to believe that when the voters with no incentive but to take more are in full charge the nation is fully doomed.

Anyway, in short, I don't despise you, but I can't wrap my mind around smart people believing lib ideals anymore...I almost have to believe there is a hidden agenda... that they are planning ot overwhelm the system because it is so clear to me that its a completely failed system...that the pathetic underclass is being used as a tool for democratic power.

As well, you said this before:

I am definitely a liberal by the lights of anyone here, and I am generally very much pro-police unless I see a good reason not to be in favor of an INDIVIDUAL officer for his or her actions.

See Dave, we don't need your support in the obvious cases. Its the ones that you "think" are wrong, that you "think" the officer was brutal, where we need faith and support. You've never been there, running out of gas after a full minute of all out fighting as a shitbird's hand slides down your side and you just KNOW he is reaching for your gun. You have to bust him up to stop him...or when you have tried for the sixth or seventh time to get the mutt to stay on the ground as he wiggles, worms and tries again to get up. You have a gun on him, you don't see a gun in his hand, aren't sure what he's doing, adrenaline is jacked and his homies are down the block. Does he have his shit on him? Will they see him and come to his aid? Should I holster and try again, knock him out, hope for a taser, what? But after the fact, after 599 iterations of video and dissection by a thousand libs that have never had to fight for more than a better spot at Ravinia...then I'm judged and you decide if you see a "good reason" not to support me. To lock me up, sue me, take my job, screw my kids future and with all due respect, Dave, you aren't in the least qualified to judge that, because you have never been there and have no idea what it's like to have a rabid human animal trying to burn you down.

I've been a copper for 20 years, I've worked a beat, been a dick, worked a homicide unit, been a boss. What you don't understand is that the coppers are the good guys, and that MOST liberals have turned this around with the assumption that they are the enemy. It plays well with minority voters that are so fucked up by the entitlement culture they have become like savages, but it isn't true. Yes there are bad coppers, and the vast majority of coppers want nothing to do with the truly bad ones, and treat them like lepers. But when I sit at a roll call now I see a ton of young, wonderful people that took on a tough job to try to make a difference and are treated like shit by not only the liberal media, but the liberal government, the liberal citizenry, and what makes me sicker than anything, used by a lot of bosses like stepping stones to greatness.

Enough rant Dave. When you agree it was ok to lump a shitbird, great. When you don't hopefully I was there to help with the scene or guide the copper in writing an honest, descriptive report that fully justifies his actions for those that have never faced the wolf but feel compelled to judge the sheepdog.

Good luck Dave. Hope you are able to stay safe and hope that maybe you think twice when judging those cops that don't deserve your favor.
