What a waste of Money. We are way too top heavy on this Dept. The Inspector is a redundant job. We already have Sgts and Lts. Correct me if I am wrong but approx 15 yrs ago the booz allen report on the CPD recommended getting rid of Inspectors for the reasons I stated above.
And if White is made a street Inspector it just shows it doesn't matter who the supe is. And that troop morale is unimportant.

Please, for the life of you, if somebody announces over the p.a. that some inspector loser is in the building,....don't freak out. I've seen tough men and women run for cover when they were reported in the district like they were the Nazis invading Poland. News Flash! They are not that big of a deal! Whoa! Scary! They can write you up if you don't have a name tag.....shudder! Who gives a fuck about them? I've never heard of an inspector writing somebody up into callback. And even if they did, so what? A lot of 1990's dreams have been shattered. That list of inspectors includes several "rising stars" from the 90's who will now retire without a gold braid pension. How unfortunate. In one case I know as a fact, the guy's clout really did die! Remember, Booze Allen the report commissioned by King DickII eliminated Captains for several years. This new rank will eliminate them again, only this time without a buy-out. And clout still matters, because somebody like Henny-Penny should be left in the ghetto where she can dance around with the revends. Instead she is sent to a white yuppie district, what happened there?

It seems to me that many of you are confusing the "new" XO position with that of District Commander. The XO serves under the DC and runs district operations most likely on 3rd Watch since they are not supposed to work the same shift. There are not glorified Watch Commanders as those duties will be assumed by a Watch Lt., if one is available or by the Desk Sgt.
This is a major transition and if you don't fight it too hard may actually turn out to simplify operations. Unfortunately, it will also overwork the desk crew and put an extra decision-making layer between the PO and the persons actually responsible for final decision-making. This can and will create serious problems for young and inexperienced police officers. Its a frightening prospect and points up the need for a better educated more experienced supervisor at the Sgt. level.

This is down right scary Scc. This is a prime example on how the mayor and city can do whatever it wants contract or not. Basically the city made the Co position to circumvent the Cpt contract. They were now able to create a new position, change the job requirements around, and put people in there spots with no compensation or any type of vote.
This is also what is going to happen with station supervisors........Again the fop, pba and cpt union better step up and start filing injunctions. This is absurd. I didn't see any apps for all these newly created positions................they just do what they will at any cost.

This is complete nonsense and a total smoke and mirrors move end run around the contract.
Basically the addition of the inspectors was a way to add more command staff to places that should have a commander without actually making them commanders and giving them the benefits. Since when are inspectors assigned anywhere but IAD? I mean now wehabe inspectors assigned to specific units, what are we MI6.
THe whole XO order was generated to stop paying the LT's overtime for having to work all over the city due to manpower shortages. Rather then promoting LTs which in turn promotes Sgt's,which in turn promotes P.O.'s which in turn higher's recruits the just change the name, the job description, and fill one to a district.
Now they just fill that spot with rotating sgt's who have no where near the training required to do what WC's do. Spare me the WC duties are not that much different bullshit. A Wc's accountability is much higher than the Sgt. Basically they are really writting what the Sgt's duties are to be without writing it in the Act's contract. Anyone who says Sgt's don't do shit now are full of shit. The amount of reports, paperwork, and not to mention reviewing reports is a lot also then logging every car twice a tour with GPS. While in some cases in slow districts it may not be that much in fast places its hard to keep up. Especially when there are only one or two on the street.
I am surrender I will get flamed, but same people bitching about eggs making too much are same people that are bitching about themselves making too little. They are also bitching thatvthe manpower shortage leaves them running from job to job.....Shut the fuck up. This whole thing isn't about what they make and what you make..........its about the city saying fuck you we will just do what we want when we want and the fact our contracts mean Jack shit. Its not about duties.......I am sure 99% of the Sgts who took the test would still take it with station supervisor orders in there, its the fact none of those duties were incorporated in there when they previously did. What if they told us blue shirts you now have one blue shiirt per sector that is required to log all cars on your watch and now approve the reorts from cars in your sector? What if they told you you now have to then go in and write bonds for any car in your sector that needs one all at your current salary..................I guarantee you every dam one of us would be up in arms screaming. We all need to band together and fight this bullshit

Looking at the rank and file these days is an embarrassment. Half of you look like homeless people or thugs. It is about time they brought back the Inspectors. Having said that, I will agree that half of those names are head cases. It will be interesting.
Not having a Captain running a Watch was and will be a mistake. A Watch cannot be run by several people, much less, several people with different ranks. The City won't burn, but the Watch's effectiveness will be diminished. Nothing you can measure, but it will be severely diminished in many ways. Suffer the citizen.

If what I see in the actual order,
(not what is posted here), is correct and follows past practices all of those "Captains" except the District XO's will have a comfy unit job with a TAKE HOME CAR.
The President of the Captain's Association got the Public Transportation Unit and I doubt he will ever take the EL to work.
The Unit 126 Inspectors will get TAKE HOME CARS and will be on the clock as soon as they leave home.
District Commanders will probably be phased out and Captains will run districts like they run precints in the NYPD at less money.
The Captains sold out because they had nothing to gain, no pay upgrades or other perks.
The Lieutenants are a different story as they have a great deal to loose. The District Watch Lieutenants shoulder all the responsibility of the Captain and McJersey wants them to do that without the OUT OF GRADE pay upgrade.
This sucks for everyone, why have promotions when you can just pull the work and responsibility down to a lower level.

It's pretty obvious that the egocentric people (select captains) who voted for the XO change were rewarded with Unit positions. Hoot was pushing it like a whore in a rock house and look- he got a good; do-nothing spot with a good boss. Voulgaris; same story as Hoot in as much as a do-nothing spot with the addition of another unnecessary level of supervision, and Wysinger isn’t a bad guy at all personally. He’s just doing what’s necessary to keep his current salary. I’d almost guarantee he’s not on board with McGoofy and his puppet master Rahm. But, the sellouts got decent spots; Goofy Lemmer, clouted Williams and Ryczek, etc., a few didn’t get hurt but were left in patrol because they are operationally incompetent and the rest got chumped.
Capt Joe Boisso was only made an inspector because they are forcing him out in April, and as good as he was as a watch commander in patrol, no commander wanted to pick him up because that would mean in April they would be getting one of the City’s clout appointed XOs. I can’t blame them for not picking him up. Boisso is a great guy and would like to have seen him be able to stay on as an inspector; he’ll be the inspector that writes guys up who need to get written up, and the kind who will also send through an inspector’s observation award when he sees some good police work. I know not many people know about those, but they do exist. They are like honorables from the inspectors. No, it’s not much, but positive none the less. I don’t see them from many of the others; some who you know will be getting their hit early and hiding in fear the rest of the tour. Most I’ll bet will be getting guys on their response time to jobs based on monitoring the GPS (HINT to you guys and girls out there).
I can’t wait to see the Capts, I mean XO’s who want to relinquish the spot after they figure it was only a ploy by the City and Department management to screw them while they try to get free work out of Lts, Sgts and Pos. I’ll guarantee this is going to cost the City more money than they ever thought they were going to save. OT out the ass baby! Long lines at the watch commander’s door! Long lines at the lockup!! Bring coffee in with your arrests and maybe a portable stadium chair to hold your spot in line. They’ll have to invest in ropes and railings like the ride lines at Disneyland. HA!!! Fools. No OT for the XOs though, and no out of grade to do the work of the commanders. Good thinking Capt—way to plan. Wait, the Kool-Aid tastes like shit after a while, you’ll just have to wait until they’re done fucking you before you get to taste it. Just remember to lick the drip off the tip before you swallow.

I saw that last night while watching the ball drop. The reporter said time square filled with 1500 brand new police recruits fresh from the academy. They actually count real new bodies, not reshuffled ones in their equation.
To understand the new XO order you would have to understand the mindset of the "CIVILIAN CONTRACTORS" who made these suggestions. I know one of them, she is a truly a "Badge bunny/groupie" who managed to land a year long contract with the city to fuck us over. Yet she wil say how she is a "friend to the police" and cares deeply about us. When tragedy stikes one of us due to the cuts and other recommendations I surely hope she sleeps good at night knowing that her recommendations may be responsible for a tragedy. Who is she you ask? Geezze don't you know anything about these Captains. Some of them are maxed out pension wise and will be aged out soon. With no promotions time and the Grim Reaper will cut down the herd.
I haven't looked close at one of those new calendars, somebody goofed or Rahm wants to cut back on everything so he made the calendars smaller. Next he will tell them the print is too dark, don't use so much ink next time. Look close at one of them is there a Union Printing Bug? From where?
If Rahm want to cut back some more then his moyal should cut him back some more.

It seems to me that many of you are confusing the "new" XO position with that of District Commander. The XO serves under the DC and runs district operations most likely on 3rd Watch since they are not supposed to work the same shift. There are not glorified Watch Commanders as those duties will be assumed by a Watch Lt., if one is available or by the Desk Sgt.
This is a major transition and if you don't fight it too hard may actually turn out to simplify operations. Unfortunately, it will also overwork the desk crew and put an extra decision-making layer between the PO and the persons actually responsible for final decision-making. This can and will create serious problems for young and inexperienced police officers. Its a frightening prospect and points up the need for a better educated more experienced supervisor at the Sgt. level.

Baloney. There is nothing this new rank will simplify. I didn't know that Commander's were so busy they needed an asst. I know they are busy but an asst to run the district? Its sounds sort of like a district manager to me but I digress. It will not simplify things. Desk personnel will have to work harder than before with fewer people and without the pay for the jobs they are doing. We don't need a better educated, more experienced Sgt for the desk, what we need is what we already have which is Captains, Lts and Sgts working the watch and handling the watch for the salaries they are paid for their experience and responsibility.
Captains pay for doing work of a Lt. Mcgoof is dumber than he looks.
He made up for that loss by having Lts. do the work of Captain and Desk Sgt. for Lt. pay .
