We're unable to confirm as we aren't available at the moment, but rumor has it that the Department removed the POWER Test requirement for the MFF eligibility list. That tells us one thing:
- Reverse seniority is about to be used
They can't draft you into an "assignment" and then have everyone who doesn't want to be there tank the test so they don't qualify for it.

I think all of you guys have it wrong. I am newer to the job and believe this type of Unit and experience will be a stepping stone to a future promotion. I know there are a lot of disgruntled officers but I have never been screwed by this Department and I am still open-minded that this is still a great job and I may be able to make a difference. The exact reasons that I took this job. Everyone should at least give this unit a chance. If you don't want to do anything with your career, that's your choice ! But stop beating up people that still have some drive and self motivation.

Yes. You are correct. This department, unfortunately, is not using the talent available. The positions are manned by people who have clout. I have seen instructors who have trouble reading and writing. Believe it or not, also, I have seen instructors who do not understand the concepts that they are trying to teach. (Yes. The end result is that people leave the academy with bad information.) Even more disturbing, there are lawyers who cannot grasp simple legal concepts; and they are trying to teach these concepts. These highly trained intellectuals cannot interpret a simple legal case. (A few, lawyers, cannot read a simple case.) Related to all of this, and just as disturbing, is the fact that there are people, including supervisors, who are impressed—swindled might be a better word, by these intellectuals. But some of the supervisors are even dumber. So, the lesson here is that this job is not about aptitude.

You can bid all you want IF there's an opening, but you've already signed away your rights and you'll never get them back.

If anyone is still onthis thread know this. Georgas and Williams have already discussed long term plans for MFF (and have run it through ONeil already). Obviously the MFF will be down at G8 that's a given. The part that they ARENT telling you (but have approval to do) is use the MFF "certified" officers for "other acts of civil disobedience"
Let me give you the exact example EW and SG ran past mlas:
2-3 shot in englewood on a Thursday night, info received from GEU that retaliation is set for the weekend. CAN EW mobilize the MFF (in uniform not bdu's) to saturate the area as a precaution?? For a day? For a weekend? For a month? For the summer?
The answer from the Commander MLAS was a resounding "YES to all". They were told that as long as they could justify the "crisis still exists" they have justification to keep MFF deployed there.

I am on the ILEAS MFF and was wiling to assist my brothers if the City asked for the help. As of this moment, they have not. I am getting a real bad feeling from reading all of this that CPD is not going to ask for help until the last minute, and it will be a major cluster fuck and Officers will get hurt. I am starting to make other plans in May and so are some of my team members. Dont bite your nose off just to spite your face.

Early in my career I dismissed the advice of older officers as paranoia or stupidity. Years later all I can say is I was the fool for this dismissal. Listen to the old timers. Much of what they said is very correct. Guys on this job get sucked into units and task forces by the lure of take home cars and federal prosecutions of their cases. In the end its all BS. The US attorney will fuck you in a minute. In his Ivy League mind you are a POS. Old time sergeant told me as a young cop to never trust a fed. I finally took his advice and later learned from a federal law enforcement officer that the AUSA lied to me about a promise he made in a long interview. Listening to old timer in that situation saved me a lot of trouble.
