Joke Hits the Big Time
Evidently, it's another slow news day - aside from the warm weather, multiple shootings, a school stabbing, and someone shooting at the police:
- For rent: Large office space available complete with “cheesy 1960’s-style neckties, old sport jackets and rusty file cabinets.”
The ad, posted on Craigslist, apparently is poking fun at the recent closure of the Harrison Area Detective Division, police said. That station, at Harrison Street and Kedzie Avenue, was one of two detective bureaus that were shuttered Sunday as part of Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s cost-cutting plans to ease a $636 million budget gap.
"The Area 4 Detective Division has been evicted due to a haphazzard re-structuring plan. ... If interested call Gary @ 312-746-6000."
The advertisement appears to say the 50,000-square-foot space is available for $50.
We guess this is easier to cover than to actually ask Rahm and Garry about manpower shortages, lack of training, non-existent equipment and other things that might require actual effort to follow up on.

Truly a very sad day watching this great organization destroyed.
I have seen a few legendary stations close that contained many memories some funny, some sad and most pretty damn awesome. I know most PO's feel the pain too.
In a few more years it will all just be memories, now I know how the old timer retirees feel.
Where is Jane Byrne, Harold Washington or Eugene Sawyer? There has to be a viable candidate somewhere out there.

I was kinda surprised that the Trib picked up on this the same day. Yeah, it must be a REALLY slow news day.
Save money. Bullshit! There are as many now as their was a week ago. The buildings still need heat, hot and cold running water, air conditioning [summer], some type of security and policemen to handle that as well as plumbers and h/ac people. This is just fluff and the assholes who make up stories in the papers apparently miss this. I guess they want to stay on the good side of the "little dancer" who is close to "Barry from Kenya". Can you imagine these two assholes advising each other. All we need now is Mac Arthy to squeeze in between the two.

How many chiefs in international relations, XO s and Commanders needed to run districts, use to only be Commanders. XO s needed to help area chiefs when the area chiefs use to run the areas alone. XO s getting Commanders pay?

Harold and Eugene are dead and Jane is tottering. I still have my Gery Chico for Mayor cap. This is shaping up to be like when Daley was elected. No one wanted to go through the bullshit just to have the election stolen and lose anyway.
Daley changed the system from a primary system to one that always favors the incumbent. The best that can happen is a challenger can make it to a runoff. If there is a strong challenger we will see all the usual Democratic Machine dirty tricks and the challenger will lose anyway.
We are fucked. Rahm will be mayor for as long as he wants. All we can do is buy good anal lube for the ride.
Besides, with barely 28% of the sheep/voters bothering to even vote we can expect nothing different. We would need an 80% turnout to unseat 9.5 and that will not happen here.
We need to live in a participatory democracy for that to happen. In Chicago they tell us what we need and then they give it to us, good and hard.

Now when we have to transport a juvie we have to brink them to one place for procesing and then drive them to another to see the Dicks just to drive them home with no court date..Theres noo F*kin way your getin a west side auntie or granny to drive alll the way to central to pick up the shit head..DONT LOCK UP JUVIES FOR STUPID BULLSHIT..REMEMBER THERE IS NO COMPLAINTS....

The desk in old 019 is staying open for walk ins who want a report. A Sgt. is on duty too to run things. They need a booking officer because the lockup is still open for the new 019, females from A3 and now old A4 and A5.
Just don't try to call them on the phone. Old phone number shut off with a recorded message that 019 is closed.
And the brand spanking new lockup in new 019? Closed of course. Money saving so Rahm can entertain NATO and build a new Malcolm X College.

So when a detective has to go on a homicide or shooting he/she will be coming from Belmont/Western to Area 4 or 5. Half hour instead of 5 or 10 minutes. What's the matter with that?
"We will solve no crime before it's time." OT heaven, I can smell it. Sure saved a lot there.
Might as well shift all detective areas to Hegewisch. Slap some cheap metal industrial buildings on top of a toxic slag heap. Detectives solve crimes, not buildings. And as for cars for them, give them all bus passes. Gas is too expensive.

This is completely true and fucked up. Don't know where the savings are and the extra bodies on the street cause the entire building is full of inside coppers 24hrs a day. Same utility bills, same people working inside. The only difference is the coppers that were on the street everyday now have lockers in another building. The media should go over there and do a story and out the lie. Then go to the old 023(now 019 east) and ask why the new lock-up is closed? Just because these bosses tell you a lie doesn't mean you have to believe it.
