Hiring Wave!

  • Chicago will hire 50 more police officers and keep 20,000 more young people occupied this summer, thanks to what Mayor Rahm Emanuel called a “safety surplus:” the first $8.5 million in city debt siphoned from the state income tax refunds of chronic scofflaws.

“I cannot have a system that tilts toward the deadbeats and the cheaters,” the mayor told a news conference at Harris Park, 6200 S. Drexel.

...said the man who made a quick $11 million in questionable short term business deals. Can you smell the bullshit already?

  • On Monday, Emanuel unveiled plans to use the first $8.5 million as a “safety surplus” to provide sorely-needed police manpower and keep kids occupied and off the streets this summer. The spending includes:

    • $2 million to hire 50 more police officers. The mayor’s budget already includes funding for 100 new officers. Now, the cadet class expected to enter the police academy in June will double — to 100 recruits. Another class of 50 will start this fall.

And that will just barely cover the retirement numbers - from November of 2009. Honest to pete, does anyone in the media ever listen to what Rahm is saying, read it back to themselves and compare it to reality?

Hey guess what?

The new Food Stamp Caseload numbers are in. The March 2012 report is for the Dec. 2011 numbers.

Record Participation Continues

SNAP national participation in December 2011 rose to a record 46,514,238 people, an over-the month increase of 227,922 people but an increase of 2.4 million people compared with December 2010. More than one in seven Americans receives SNAP.

The number of people participating in SNAP in December 2011 was nearly 29.6 million more persons than in July 2000, when program participation nationally reached its lowest point in the prior decade (16.9 million individuals). On the federal level the program was renamed SNAP pursuant to the 2008 Farm Bill

[...]

Still Missing Eligible People at a Time of Food Hardship

Nonetheless, gaps in participation remain. Three in ten people eligible for SNAP go unserved.

---------------------

All through the Bush years food stamp caseloads increased and they continue to do so under Obama. Those damn liberals!

----------

Guess what else??

We're number two -- we're number two!!!

Looking at the Nov 2011 data compared to the Dec 2011 data Illinois ranks number two in the percentage increase in food stamp participants.

Illinois

Nov -- 2011 -- 1,850,593
Dec -- 2011 -- 1,879,585

A 1.6% increase, roughly 29,000 people. Alaska was number one with a December increase of 2.1%

Woo-hoo!

---------------------------

You would think that with all these so-called new jobs being created in the sanctuary city that these numbers would be going down and not up.

Heh..they tell us how they created over 122,900 NEW jobs in Illinois since January 2010 yet the food stamp caseloads in Illinois are 49.5% higher then they were in 2006!

GO tell it to the sweeney!

AARP -- Illinois Finishes LAST in the US as Place to Retire

....

Here is what is coming.

More fees than can be born by any human or dog: red light speeding cameras everywhere and big fees just for having Spot.

Lord Rahm latching onto meager Illinois state tax returns for non-payment of fines to fund jobs --let's here it now-- for da children.

And...those sinking houses: The state oligarchy of RahmMadiQuinn is busy about the task of forcing all funding of school pensions down to the local level. For those who went to the government schools, it works out like this: House is valued at $100,000 and the property taxes will escalate to $15-20 thousand per year. Unless you know Lords RahmMadiQuinn personally. Then you will be exempt.

Running right behind grannie in her scoot-mobile are the many businesses that cannot afford the corporate tax, fees and graft that is part of doing business in the Land of Obama.

The guy who is selling the "Illinois -- A Great Place to be FROM" bumper sticker is making a fortune, and Lords RahmMadiQuinn were greedily eyeing his newly amased fortune, but I understand he lives in Wisconsin---this [] far away from the Illinois State line.

-----------------

Politicians picking and choosing the winners and the losers, redistributing that wealth, but it's not to who you think it is.

Well, got some news for ya there buckeroo!

The Chicago Police Department as it is barely existing now will be completely gone within 5 years.

The current thinktank wisdom being applied silently throughout the entire country amongst all the wannabe knowitall police chiefs is what's been told to them as the last final frontier for law enforcement, by who else other than a bunch of fucking civilian never-been-a-cop little punktards who're controlled by big money in this country.

That's right kids.... City based, municipally financed policing is going away in just a few years.

It's replacement? Glad you asked! None other than a plan similar to Obama's dream of a "civilian brown shirt" police department.

See, CRIME will never again go down in this country, rather ESCALATE as time goes by. This means local governments will soon never be able to afford to pay enough salary to police their own municipality. THAT means, a new branch of "paramilitary service" will come into being. One that applies FEDERAL TAXES to policing the entire country.

Basically slave wages near that of what current military members get, but they'll get the free house as well.

Get used to losing that job about as soon as you get it, because you're NOT gonna be on the new FEDERAL POLICING list when it happens kid.

I've NEVER understood the YIPPEE, I'm getting a tax refund mentality.

If you get a tax refund, you've stupidly given the government an interest-free loan of your own money for a year.

Adjust your 'dependents' number on your withholding documents at work and take more cash home in each paycheck. If you do it properly, you should be writing the State or the Fed a check for less than a hundred dollars each time you file.

And, yes, it's legal to declare six dependents for withholding purposes if you only have two dependents. The purpose of it is to estimate the amount of tax that should be withheld from your paycheck, not to verify how many children are in your household.

When you fill out your tax FILING forms, you, of course, fill out the accurate number, along with the ss# of each dependent.

That way, no free money to Rahm, or anyone else. See how easy it can be?

Yes, lets drop the college. You must not be educated. It's bad enough we have some officers that should not be on the job and now you would like to drop the college so we could hire more officers. That is stupid. If the city wants to get quality officers we need to keep the college.

On the other hand the city really needs to stop telling the citizens that we have enough officer on the street. The rest Obama isn't allowing the G8 Summit in Chicago is because we don't have enough officer.

2:58 pm. The college requirement is just fine. Its just a different generation. The generation brought up ready to dial 911, whenever you tried to provide some much needed disipline. Also lets not forget the clout babies, seems every boss, gang leader and politician has a shit load of family members in the department. Try telling any of those know nothings, vélez, killackey, johnson, byrne, beavers there are shitloads more, what to do, not happening. This department has become of reflection of the society, cultivated by the criminal chicago machine. Po's like you should be the norm and believe me over 90% are. Hang in there. We know who you are. March 6, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) --

"A pregnant student was stabbed Tuesday at a high school on the city's South Side then transported to a hospital in critical condition.

"Students tell ABC 7 that two teenage girls, one of them pregnant, began fighting. Then things got heated.

"Chicago Police say the 15-year-old student was stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors inside a classroom."

There is no big secret about how many po's are on the job. Pension board knows exactly how many are paying into the pension, you can't mess with that and you can go on clear and get alpha listing, seniority listing and it will tell you the totals including bosses.

3/06/2012 04:18:00 PM

You probably (1) have no college or (2) earned your Master’s degree at Calumet College. But do not flatter yourself, if you have a Master’s degree from a diploma mill; I have seen the aptitude of these degree holders—I am more impressed with someone who earned 60 hours at a community college. I have seen the assignments from these diploma mills; and, yes, a community college education has more substance. But, speaking of education, some college should be required. By the way, the college educated officers are going to outscore you on the promotional exams. Additionally, the college educated officers probably grasp the law better than you ever will.

I was looking around at roll call in Area 3 (north) with the influx of new people. Most of us are pretty long in the tooth. What is the city planning to do w/in the next several years when many of those det's have pulled the plug? Just like the mass hiring they had to do in '86, now they will have mass retirements. About half of those from '86 are gone already. What's going to happen by 2015 when the rest are maxed out? Many, many people in A3 pulling the pin shortly, especially those who are 55.

This is all so frustrating. I am an officer at a department in the Chicago suburbs, and part of me wishes I had been hired in Chicago. I grew up surrounded by Chicago cops... Neighbors, friends, and family. As a kid, I looked up to those men and women as my heros. Now, as an officer myself, I see just how disfunctional the entire Chicago Police Department is, and it sickens me. I still know many, many great officers in Chicago. It is just a shame they work at a department tainted by moron bosses, clout babies, slugs and do-nothing's. All led by a jackass Superintendent. As I patrol my quiet area, I wish I could get involved in the city action, only because I'm a very aggressive officer. I just know I wouldn't survive with all the dumb BS, and lack of department support.

I wish you guys luck, and only hope someday a leader can come in and turn things around!

I've been telling people this for years. Growing up in the city, you see CPD as The Real Police and the suburbs are just places where you'll get a traffic citation for breathing wrong. While I waited 3-4 YEARS for the next test I kept finding these suburban departments that paid more, called you quicker, and actually gave you a chance to progress in your career. I got love for CPD b/c I'm a city boy at heart but the city asks too much in return for too little, which is why Chicagoans work in outside departments...30 miles from home.

Listen up, a college degree is not required to do this job. All you need is 60 hours of course work to be eligible to take the entrance exam. A degree from any college does not make you any smarter than the next man. It does however, make a statement about your character. I applaud any officer with an undergraduate degree. Officers with advanced degrees kudos to you, espesially if you are married with children and earned your MS while working this job full time while working a side job, being involved in scouting, baseball, basketball and hockey. Everyone stay united, work together as a team, call for back up if you think you might need it, you probably do. Trust your instincts, rely on your training, stay focused and succeed. At the end of your tour go home safe to your family.

The bottom line is this: if it's so horrible, just move on. A job should not be like a prison sentence: "I'm doing my time". Life's too short.

WE NEED TO DROP THE COLLEGE REQUIREMENT AND HIRE PEOPLE WHO WANT TO DO THE JOB. The generation of "college" kids we hiring now, all think there supposed to be the boss, not working Police Officers. That doesnt do any of us on the street any good. I have my college education, but still know what this job is all about. Its called good work ethic and law enforcement, not just report writing after the fact. Apparently, pride in ones career/job is not a class in any accredited college program. Never thought Id see the day the "dogs" would be the vast majority and the model Officers.....

Have been preaching this for years.. We have hired a generation of entitlement. They disobey direct orders, bypass the chain of command, and use their college education to hide from being the police. Don't get me wrong, not all of them are bad, but the vast majority would rather check my spelling and grammer, than put the bracelets on people.
We need more people that realize what a great job they have, take some of these problem kids and let them do construction work or dig ditches, then lets see if they appreciate this job.

I'm a recently-redeployed Army veteran of Afghanistan who has combat leadership experience, been engaged by Taliban insurgents on dozens of occasions, taught Afghan National Police how to be cops (which is impossible to do), and have expertise in firearms and Combatives (hand-to-hand combat). I applied and took the test for Chicago back in September. My lottery number was in the 5,000s out of 6200. I know other Army Soldiers and Marines who have low lottery numbers as well.

I endured stress in one year that most will never endure in a lifetime. I’ve dealt with the most hate-filled, destructive, and anti-American people that have ever walked this earth. Every day was spent dealing with snipers and IEDs while we taught Afghan police how to be cops, cordon off crime scenes, conduct counternarcotics and murder investigations, and above all, make it home alive. Yet, I'm not good enough to be hired by the CPD? Thanks but no thanks. What the news media or the department should do is a study on what kind of recruits you guys are actually getting. If you're getting military vets (which I doubt you are), you're getting all of the cooks, analysts, and dental assistant "veterans" who spent all day on the FOB drinking coffee and searching Facebook. Meanwhile, all the real, disciplined Soldiers who actually went outside the wire (Infantry, Military Police, etc.) like me are going to LAPD and other departments because CPD said “fuck you” to us.

All I can say is have fun with your new probationary officers who are all grocery store clerks and people who were Soldiers but really not Soldiers, because none of them have been shot at before or know what the hell they're doing.
