Troopers Save Drunk Woman

  • When State Trooper Jacqueline Del Villar arrived at a crash scene early Sunday morning, she knew the situation was dire.

The sport utility vehicle near the Bishop Ford Freeway ramp by Dolton had run head-on into a tree and its crumpled hood was engulfed in flames. The driver, who was leaning out of the front seat, was stuck, her legs pinned beneath the dashboard.

Del Villar ran to the woman and grabbed her arm, and an unidentified bystander pulled the other.

  • The driver, Tamara Jackson, 34, of Chicago, suffered several cuts, abrasions and burns and later was charged with driving under the influence, police said. A passenger, who exited the car before police arrived at about 4 a.m., refused medical attention at the scene, Spight added.
Good job by the troopers.

I always feel safe knowing that EVERY CPD UNIT is equipped with a fire extinguisher for just such emergencies.

An even BETTER job by the bystander. When's the last
time a citizen rushed up to actually help out the police?

Concur on praising the bystander, a living exemplar of Robert Peel's dictum that "the police are the people, and the people are the police."

Saw this on TV - it strikes me that we could do an awful lot better regarding fire-resistant materials in cars.

Both troopers said they got burns on their hands from "burning material dripping down." Blazing Chinese plastic. You know what a burned-out looks like -- nothing but blackened tin, nothing left.

Good thing the government banned Halon, huh? Could have had auto-interior fire suppression systems.

The illegals tearing up old air conditioners for scrap and venting all the Freon outstripped any life-saving fire extinguisher releases 10000x a long time ago.

Obvious this woman cares nothing about herself or others. I noted her "passenger" got their ass out of the burning car. True friends are hard to find.

Halon was banned because it displaces oxygen... So you will not be on fire, but suffocate
